Cannot change Compiz title bar on MATE Appearance

I've tried a lot of searching but I just can't find a solution...
I have MATE/GNOME 2 and Compiz worked pretty well on it.
However I can't seem to get GTK to change the title bar on any theme, and if Compiz is disabled, I get no title bar.
I even changed the window title font to show the problem.
I've tried reinstalling Compiz, the GTK decorator, changing to different themes, but nothing works.
Edit: gconftool-2 --set --type string /apps/metacity/general/theme "Theme"
changes the title bar, apparently

I think you are talking about the all-day event space at the top of each day. this is where all-day events are located, and unfortunately you cannot resize that space manually, it resizes itself automatically depending on the number of all-day events created, and yes the only way to view the text is to double click on that event.
however, when you publish a calendar you are given the option to publish titles and notes, check that option, then publish your calendar. The user viewing your published calendar will be able to click on that all-day event and view the entire title and/or notes associated with that event in a pop up window.

No option to change Window Title Bar Font in gnome-tweak-tool

Hey there,
did a fresh install today on a Haswell-PC. But there's no option to change Window Title Bar Font in gnome-tweak-tool anymore? All the other options are there.
Is there a way to set the Window Title Bar Font elsewhere? Does someone know why this option was removed or is it due to my system somehow? I also don't see this option in the dconf-editor.
Gnome 3.8, all the latest updates, Intel Core i5 with Intel HD 4600 Graphics

Working with a projector file. How can center it, not allow scaling and change the title bar?

I've tried using:

on frame 1, but they don't seem to work. I'm going to be putting this project on a CD and the client wants to make sure it will open centered on the user's screen, which has not been the case so far. It seems to open at different spots on different computers.
They also want the title bar changed from "Adobe Flash Player 10" to their own title.

My Title Bar is suddenly appearing in Chinese characters, what happened (and how do I fix it)?

The title bar on my browser is now appearing with some type of chinese characters. Nothing else has changed, but I would like to know what happended, why, and how to return my system to normal

That issue is caused by an extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and not by a plugin.
If you see CJK (Chinese/Japanese) characters on the Firefox title bar or the Windows Taskbar then that can happen if Firefox switches to UTF-16 encoding for some reason.
The ''RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin'' extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) has been reported to cause that issue.
Be sure not to get confused with the RealPlayer plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) that plays media files.
The extension adds some extra features like saving media files.
You can disable/remove the ''RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin'' extension in the RealPlayer Preferences (RealPlayer: Tools > Preferences > Download & Recording)

How to change the title bar wdith , scroll bar widths in tune with a 7" screen

can you please help me customize my user chrome section so that I can REDUCE the WIDTH of the scroll bar ( horizontal and vertical ) . That is , at max the scroll bar can be ___ pixels of __ % of total width. ( prefer the relative reference )
Also the title bar ( that black surrounding area that bears the minimize, maximize,close buttons ) needs its width reduced to half of what it is now. How do I do this ?

No. That doesn't work any more. In current Firefox versions native scroll bars are used and you can't do style those via userChrome.css (user interface; chrome windows) and userContent.css (websites). You can try a large theme if you do not want to make the changes via the Control Panel

i use an acer aspire one a110 with arch and lxde almost every day and i am really satisfied with it. But because every pixel count on such a screen if you're programming, editing xml files... i was wondering if I can change the size/height of the title bar of each window.

That depends on the openbox theme. Openbox is the window manager used by lxde.

Cannot Change Event Title

Greetings,
This seems a bit odd... but for an unknown reason I'm no longer able to edit the Event Title text. When I click on the field to change the event title, I see the field change to a text strip but without a cursor. I can however use the text field via 'search'.
I've tried restarting the application, mac... I've made plenty of events so far, this seems to be out of the blue.
Any ideas?

Cannot change Video Titles - Revert back to original

When I import my videos into iTunes they have incorrect titles and when I try to change them by using "Get Info" they don't change. Just seeing if there is something small I'm missing before I reinstall

I can not change the video name from their original titles. For example, VTS014 is the title I can not change. They are not read only and the videos play fine in iTunes and on my iPod.

AFAIK, you can't. I believe the title bar is rendered by the operating system, using the colors the user has chosen, consistently for all windows. Frankly, if your app could, it would annoy me, as I would still want all my windows to look consistent.

Openbox theme only changes title bar?

Hi! Couldn't find any answer on wiki or google. I don't know if I understand this right, but I installed openbox theme, selected it in configuration but the only thing that changed is title bar, and right click menu. Programs like thunar or leafpad still have gray interface with nice >Link to theme <. I'm guessing that installing theme and selecting it isn't all to it. So what is it?

Yes, you have to install the openbox theme to have the nice titlebar, but the gtk theme is the one that sets the "look"

HELP! Suddenly cannot change file names..

Last night after a brief power cut I found, inevitably, I had lost a photoshop image I hadn't saved, but everything else seemed OK. To be sure I checked Disk Utility. The HD was OK but some odd issues appeared in permissions which I told to repair. This then said all OK.
Whether my present problem is related to the power cut or repairing permissions I don't know, but -
Now I cannot change file titles. If I click on an icon title to bring up the normally re-typeable title pane, and try, nothing happens. I'm stuck with the existing name. Is there a simple way of rectifying this?

ITunes 9: "M:\" in the Title Bar

Before upgrading to iTunes 9, the title bar on the main iTunes simply said, "iTunes". However, after upgrading to iTunes 9, the title bar text has something different: "M:\"
I keep my iTunes library (and the associated database files) on a partition of an external hard drive, to which I assigned the drive letter M. (M = "music," get it?) Anyway, I just find it strange that the main iTunes window says "M:\". It would be totally confusing if you also had an Explorer window open to the M drive (the title bar of which would also show "M:\"). Is there any way to change the title bar back to showing "iTunes" before this "M:\" problem drives me crazy?

This looks like an intended new feature of iTunes 9.
The title shows the name of the folder containing your iTunes library. Presumably it is intedned to help people who use iTunes with different libraries to see which library they are currently using.
If you don't like the feature, you need to use the feedback option on the iTunes help menu.
I would guess that you can fix this if you don't like it by closing iTunes and then renaming the folder containing your library to iTunes. Then do a shift key start to tell iTunes the new location of the library.
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes,. keep holding the shift key until your are promoted to choose a library. Navigate to you newly named iTunes folder and choose iTunes library.itl.

Use an image for the Accordion Title bar

I have dowloaded the Muse 7.1 beta and I like what I have see so far. I do not have the option to change the title bar for the accordian panel to an image or make use of transparency like I seen in the video tutorial. I also have not figured out how to work the menu bar. Having said that I can see this replacing DreamWeaver for some of my clients needs. I can only image how powerfull this program will be in another 18 months from now.

After inserting the accordion from Object > Insert Panel > Accordion, select the first element and under the Fill panel you have the option to customize the image or transparency. Also double clicking on the name of the item will allow you to simply change his name. Regarding the menu bar, give us more details and we'll work it out. (If you don't see the Fill panel go to Window menu and click on Fill menu item.)

The Title Bar locks while surfing the web.

The Title Bar on my Firefox has started to lock during surfing. This has happened on both my home and work laptops. I cannot work any Title Bar controls nor can I right click on the Taskbar button to resize the window but can still work Menu Bar controls and continue surfing. Sometimes the Title Bar returns to normal. Many times it does not. Occasionally it locks Firefox and I have to close via the Task Manager.
