Cannot change settings from AAC to MP3 encoder although able to do so on another computer

I am frustrated as I am able to change my settings on ITunes 10 on my desktop computer, but when I downloaded ITunes10 on my notebook, I was not able to change the same settings from AAC to MP3 encoder although I clicked ok. It keeps reverting to AAC, and I am not able to rightclick my music file, as I can do on my desktop, to create a smaller mp3....
I also noticed that other checkmarks, i.e. checking "podcast" under general preferences under source revert back to unchecked when I get out.
What to do?

Cannot convert podcast from aac to mp3 in iTunes

I've downloaded the Mac Format podcast (auto link into iTunes) which is in acc format and right clicked it to select convert to mp3 as I want to burn to a disk (don't have an iPod - yes I know I'm the only one!) The progress bar shows the conversion taking place however once it has completed the file is still in acc format. How do I actually get it into mp3?

No, to nitpick, they are not in AIFF format but instead they are in Compact Disc Digital Audio format, aka "Red Book". When you put a CD into a Mac, it just shows them as AIFF files but they aren't until you actually copy them to your computer.

Why won't my playlists convert from aac to mp3

Hi,
Never had to use the forum before as I've always previosuly been able to figure most stuff out that I needed to do, but I recently converted my whole music library from AAC format to MP3 (so that I can burn an MP3 disc to play in my car) with no problem using the "Advanced" tab and "Convert to MP3 format" tab.
(I've also changed my settings now so that all downloads are set to MP3 as well to stop this happening ever again!.)
However, I then tried to do the same for my playlists, but it just doesn't work for those using the "Convert to MP3 format" facility - even though it doers actually give the impression of doing so. i.e. It appears to be converting the songs and I even get a confimation tone when it's suppossedly finished converting the playlist, but the playlist still shows it's "Kind" as AAC, and hasn't converted it at all!
The only way that I can find to do it is to delete the playlist (after printing out a copy of the playlist) and then manually re-creating the whole playlist again by dragging each song individually from the library! Which I obviously don't really want to do as I've got a lot of playlists and that would be very laborious and would quite frankly be a ridiclous thing to have to do again (especially after doing it already for the library).
Am I missing something here, expecting too much or just being thick?? Any one have a solution for this please?

It took me less than a minute to do this for the first playlist and I'll now easily be able to do the same for all the other playlists - saving me potentially hours if I'd had to do it using the other way.
In case anyone is unaware, there is one further little tip once you have converted the playlist from AAC to MP3 and sorted by "Date Added". Press and hold Shift, then highlight (the first song) and scroll to the last song (which will then highlight all the songs that you've just converted) and then simply drag them to a new playlist - voila, job done!

There is no option to convert from AAC to MP3. The files are encoded with iTunes 8.1 which does not offer an option to convert files.

How do i change songs from mp4 to mp3

Hi i hope some can help because i'm getting stressed out. I new to i tunes and have recently bought some music from i tunes store. I am trying to copy them to cd which as intrustions tell you how too, but when i try to play the cd it wont work beacuse its a mp4 file, i'm wondering how to change over my songs to mp3 format so they will work when copied to cd
any help will be greatful

Most music in the iTunes store is m4p - DRM protected. You cannot convert this but you can burn it to an *Audio CD* which can be used as you would any other.
iTunes plus tracks can be converted, but you would only want to do that if you want to play them on a player that will not play AAC.

Problems converting song from AAC to MP3 in iTunes

I have just downloaded some songs from the iTunes store and they download in the AAC format, I usually right hand click on a song and convert it to MP3 file, however I have one song "animal by neon trees" that it keeps coming up with an error but it says it is an unknown error. this is what it says
error occured while converting the file "animal". an unknown error occurred (-3)
has anyone else encountered this issue??
please help
ps. i have the latest version of itunes, i have also converted other songs today not a problem.

Yes, it can be done. First, go to iTunes preferences, choose "Advanced", click on the "Import" Tab and select "MP3 encoder" next to "Import Using". Close the window. Now select the files in questions, go to the "Advanced" menu and choose "Convert selection to MP3". However, if your files are already encoded to AAC this will not decrease the size of your library significantly AND you will lose sound quality. In addition, converting your library in one go might bring your computer to its knees risking data loss. So, I would recommend buying a bigger HD instead.

My problem is on webmail - when I open my email on iCloud I have the columns and cannot find where to change the view.

One axis of wave chart cannot change away from automatic formatting

Refer attached vi and picture. I can change the other two y axis to floating point, but I cannot change the "acceleration x,y,z" from automatic formating to floating point; whenever I click floating point, the highlight returns back to automatic formating.
Now why is that, some setting wrong some where?

Hello Sunflower2772,
I've opened your VI in both LabVIEW 8.6 and LabVIEW 2009, and could see the same behaviour in both versions.
After that, I tried a few things:
- I deleted all other scales except for the "acceleration x, y, z", but it was still the same.
- I duplicated the "acceleration x,y,z" scale, so now there are two scales - "acceleration x,y,z" and "acceleration x,y,z 2". I shifted all but 1 of the plots to use "acceleration x,y,z 2". The result was still the same.
It is really a strange behaviour, it looks to me like it could be a bug. Do you have the exact steps to replicate this problem?
Anyway, I managed to get a workaround. Using one of the normal scales "Heave, roll, pitch", I duplicated that scale by right-clicking on "Heave, roll, pitch" axis, and select "Duplicate Scale". This duplicated scale can be assigned to the individual plots again, and the display format will not be "fixed" to the automatic formatting option.
Please try it out and let me know how it goes.

Restore your iPod in iTunes for Mac. I am unable to send photos from iphoto via email as an attachment to be downloaded onto another computer. i thought e-mail would automatically pick up these photos if mailed out so they could be downloaded.

At one time I was able to send photos from i photo library and I assumed the receiver could open these and download them into their apple computer (family).
I have tried to send photos from library or folder as attachment but I am also unable to do this. How do I send pictures as e-mail attachments which can be opened up and downloaded to another computer?

I've managed to sort out my own problem!! Shall write it down in case there are others out there who have a similar problem. With iPhoto open, click on iPhoto on the top menu bar. Click on preferences. Then click on account. This let me change the details such as the user name and password. Luckily I played around with a couple of my usual passwords, and found one that worked. Have now written it down!!!!

How can I import CD's with differing custom settings? IWhen I want to change settings the AAC encoder window does not appear because Itunes has adopted the first custom settings as default.

I imported a CD with custom settings for stereo bit rate, sample rate and channels. When I tried to import a second CD with different settings I could not get to the AAc encoder window that gave the settings options. The custom settings I had chosen for the first CD had become the default "custom" settings.

"downgrade" iTunes software/change music from mp4 to mp3?!

I recently upgraded my iTunes software and all my music was changed from mp3 to mp4 format. That's great and all except for the fact that I just purchased a cell phone that has a music player that only supports mp3 files. I would really like to put some of my music on my phone. Is there any way that I could possibly "downgrade" my software or do anything else to turn my music back into mp3's?

The store has NEVER sold songs in mp3 format. The store files are in either protected AAC format or iTunes Plus format which is not protected. As Chris said, the only thing you can do with the protected format purchases is burn them to an audio CD. If you had purchased the iT Plus files, they can be changed to mp3 format. Just a suggestion, if you need mp3 format files, you may want to take a look at amazon.com, emusic.com, or audiolunchbox.com, just to name a few. The beauty of all of these sights is their downloads have no DRM.

How to change settings from CMYK to RGB in illustrator and photoshop

Everything is in CMYK and I need to change it to RGB for my M2 dtg garment printer, because my colors on shirts are not coming out right. My rip software for printer is in RGB. When I open new file in illustrator and click advanced to change to RGB I get a little warning saying; The chosen color mode is different from the color space defined by the Document Profile. Panel content may not match the new color mode.

First choose "Basic RGB" for Profile in the New Document Dialog, then adjust any advanced settings.
