Cannot chat with more than one person.

Running iChat AV 2.1, only text chatting via Rendevous in OSX 10.3.9. I can't chat with any more than one person. It sure would be helpful.
I've tried selecting two people and opening a new chat--I get the error message "Could not create chat with these participants". When more than one person is selected, the A button at the bottom is grayed out.What do I need to do?

Bonjour in iChat require that ports 5297, 5298 and 5353 are open in your routing device (if you have one)
I have seen this problem reported before. I do not know that there is a specific fix for this.

I can normally text chat just fine, but when i try to invite more than one person to chat, i get the following error message
Couldn’t request chatroom “[screenname here] 619401”. (Your message is too long to be sent. Please shorten it.)
(obviously where it says screenname here, thats my screen. all lowercase letters, no spaces or weird characters.
the weird thing is if someone else invites me to a multi person text chat, it works just fine. i just cant initiate it. any suggestions???

Here is how I initiate a text chat.
(0) Click on one of my buddy names in my Buddy List to highlight it.
(1) ⌘ click on the next buddy I want to add to highlight him, too.
(2) Repeat the ⌘ clicks for all the other buddies I want in the chat.
(3) Click the "A" at the bottom of my buddy list to initiate the multiple-party chat.
Try that, and see if it works for you. If you can make it work for two, it should work for more.

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?
In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.
P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

Hi,
Check the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth setting.
iChat needs to see a Minimum of 128kbps to do 1-1 chats in Video
For 3 and 4 way chats it needs 384kbps
Set the Bandwidth to 500kbps if it is set lower.
Also check the speed you are getting from your Internet supplier.

The plus sign will only show like 2 names meanwhile there are other people on my buddy list that i want to add not the ones in the plus sign. I am trying to share a keynote presentation which I have already shared with a second person.
Every time I try I get the pop up asking me if I want to replace existing presentation, which I don't.

Simply wondering if a group of people can video-chat together at same time, or just one-on-one?

It is currently only possible to have a peer to peer connection with one other computer.
To connect with multiple computer you would have to connect via a dedicated server and that is currently not possible with WebRTC.

I just got Leopard installed into my Macbook. When I video chat, i have all the new options including the effects, except the ability to invite more than one person into the video chat. When i press the "+" button the only option i get is "share a file with ichat theater"

First have you set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to 500.
Restart iChat.
Also do a speed test and tell us the up and download speeds http://www.speedtest.net/

We want add a invoice with DI API, but the DI API provide only one costing center: CostingCode in Document_Lines Object. But we have two costing centers, one is department, the other is salesperson.
