Cannot choose "Import" on the file menu - not highlighted

trying to import bookmarks from IE - on the file menu of Firefox the "Import" choice is not highlighted and cannot be selected - why? This may be a basic error on my part somewhere .

Try importing them via the bookmarks organizer.

Does this give you the option to import from Internet Explorer?
If it does not, export the favorites in IE to an HTML file, and then import the HTML file into Firefox. This process is described in the [[Importing Internet Explorer Favorites from another computer]] article.

Short answer: They are not resizing, there is no quality lost. The dpi is only set when you decide what size you're printing at
Longer answer: Dpi means nothing in the digital world of your computer. There are no "inches" to have "dots per..." Size is measured in pixels. That's the same on your camera. It doesn't take 10 x 8 or 6 x 4 shots. It takes shots measured in megapixels. For instance 4,000 x 3,000 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Using that example, that shot from that camera has 12 million pixels. So that's how many "Dots" there are. To decide the ratio of dots per inch, you now need to decide the "inches" part. And that's printing. Print at 10 x 8 and the dpi will be 4,000/10 or about 400 dpi. At 6 x 4 then it's 4,000/6 or 660 dpi. Work the other way: Print at 300 dpi and the resulting image will be about 13 inches on the longer side.
So, your photo as a fixed number of pixels. Changing the dimensions of the print will vary the dpi, changing the dpi will vary the dimensions of the print.

To import bookmarks from Safari, Help says to select Import from the File menu, but there is no Import option there. What then is the first step to import Safari bookmarks?.

I was reading from the Help menu which does provide the warning that the material may be outdated since it is not supported.

The Import option has been moved from the File menu to the Library window; that article needs to be revised.

Bulk Insert Task Cannot bulk load because the file could not be opened.operating system error error code 3(The system cannot find the path specified.)

Following error i am getting after i chnaged the Path in Config File from
\\vs01\d$\\Deployment\Files\temp.txt
to
C:\Deployment\Files\temp.txt
[Bulk Insert Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Cannot bulk load because the file "C:\Deployment\Files\temp.txt" could not be opened. Operating system error code 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).".

I think i know whats going on. The Bulk Insert task runs by executing sql command (bulk insert) internally from the target sql server to load the file. This means that the SQL Server Agent of the target sql server should have permissions on the file you trying to load. This also means that you need to use UNC path instead to specify the file path (if the target server in on different machine)

To import bookmarks from Safari on a Mac following the instructions for the import wizard, I am to select "import" under the Firefox file menu, but "import" is grayed out, so I cannot select it.

Lightroom 3: images not imported because the files can not be read:

Nikon D700 NEF files are fine. I can copy them to a folder and work with them in Adobe Bridge and Camera Raw.
LR3 will not import them to the existing catalog from the CF Disk or from a folder on the c:\drive. I tried creating a new catalog -- the same problem occurs.
Suggestions are welcomed.

LR 3.4.1
Camera Raw 6.4.1
I created a new Catalog in c:\My Documents\LR2011\...
Running Windows 7 64 bit
Emptied the ReCycle bin
Have plenty of storage...
Now I'm getting the message: "Could not copy file to requested location"
Everything worked fine with LR 2 and the LR 3.0
Since upgrading I can't read NEF files from my D700 or copy to requested location. LR will display thumbnails, but I can not add to my now, non-existent Catalog...

This is an issue that just happened and I don't know if it is related to the upgrade to 4.3 or not. Can some one help me with this, please? This message comes up when I try to import to light room. A box comes up that says "Import Results" then the error message shows with a group of file numbers that wouldn't import. I have looked at everything I can think of to remedy this situation but I am not finding any thing.

Are you importing directly from a card or do you copy the files to your hard disk and then import them from there? I've found that the second method seems to be more reliable.

For Firefox I know I can go into about:config and set "browser.draw.tabs.defaultDrawInTitlebar" and "browser.draw.tabs.DrawInTitlebar" to false, but I have no idea about Thunderbird since I don't know how to access the about:config page or if there even is one.

You can access about:config from Options > Advanced > General > Config Editor.

Running AE CC 13.2 on iMac with Yosemite 10.10.2
I just started getting an error message when trying to import any number of ProRes 422 (HQ) files.
file ‘[file name].mov’ cannot be imported – this ‘MooV’ file is damaged or unsupported.
This happens approximately 90% of the time. There have been occasions where I can open and view files of this type.
I have gone through the various troubleshooting options here:

I reinstalled ProApps to no avail.
Permissions are fine.
Creative Cloud recently updated AE over the past few days. Perhaps this incremental update fouled something up? Last weekend, things worked perfectly fine.
I have also noticed that it takes a lot longer to load AE (since using last weekend). I have used Time Machine to roll the application back to last week's version to see if that helps.
Any insight is appreciated.

The update last week was just to Adobe Camera RAW and not really AE. It would be unlikely to cause the issues you describe. Have you tried turning your Mac all the way off and then back on again?

IPhoto says it cannot import my photos b/c they may be an unrecognized file or the file may not contain valid data. The operation could not be completed. Error code is: ImageCaptureCoreError-9905.

Unable to download photos from my camera. iPhoto returns an error message that states: The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file or the files may not contain valid data). Did not have a problem importing photos under the LEOPARD OS, however, now that I have upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 the iPHOTO app is not performing the imports.

Are you using Photos, or iPhoto? Maybe you've got a corrupt file on your camera. I would try using the image capture application to import the bad picture to my desktop. If it works and the picture looks ok, then delete that pic from the camera, then try to import into iphoto again. You can then import the pic it was saying was bad from your desktop.
Or, try downloading all the pics using image capture and then import from the download folder.
