Cannot choose port format XML

Hello MDMers,
I'm using MDM 5.5 SP06. I definen some Remote Systems and Inbound/Outbound ports.
As I define the ports, I cannot choose the XML format (it is grayed out).
Do you know a way out of it?
Thank you!
BR,
Mircea

Hi Mircea,
I am right now working on MDM 5.5 SP05 and the option of XML format in the port details in greyed out since SP05.
Actually this option was present in MDM 5.5 SP04, but now the only way out is to mention XML Schema in the port details.
1) Actually, now the port can only import XML file with the support of an XML Schema.
2) If you want to import an XML file ( without mentioning XML Schema) then you will have to take it from your harddisk.
3) But if you want to import an XML file though the Ready folder of a port, you will have to mention a Schema for that.
If you do not have an XML Schema, then you can create one with the help of Xomlite45 software.
Hope it helps.

  • TAGS WHICH CANNOT BE DISPLAYED IN XML ARE TO BE INCLUDED IN TEMPLATE

    Hi,
    Can I have some inputs to solve an issue that is haunting me ?
    I need to generate an XML with predefined tags and cant add any extra tags.
    Apart from that I also need to generate a pdf file using a rtf template. The issue I am facing is , there are various fields in the rtf template which are not there in XML.
    How do I display fields in the template where as I cant display or rather include them in the XML ?
    Or can we generate two XMLs and pass one of them for the generation of the pdf and the other be kept as it is ?
    Thanks
    Rajiv Sengupta

    Thank you very much for the suggestions.
    But the issue I am facing is, there are 140 Codes and Descriptions that can be picked up dynamically and display in a Field. Also the field should be able to display more than one codes and the Description of those Codes(if selected) I cannot hard code 140 Codes and their description in a field in rtf. That will take too much time in the generation of pdf from rtf . Also it will be difficult to clear the GSCC Errors when the same rtf will be used for the R12. So hardcoding the 140 Codes is doesnt seem to be a great option.
    The Code can be picked from the XML , which is in legislative format. But the XML will not contain the descriptions of the Code. I am archiving the Description of the Code, but cannot include it in XML.
    But I need to display the description of the particular code in the PDF. Please suggest.
    Thanks

  • Java.sql.SQLException:ORA-01407: cannot update ("WAVESET", "TASK", "XML")

    Hi,
    We are currently facing the above mentioned error while trying to install Sun IdM 7.1 in WebSphere 6.0. The same ear works fine in all my other environments (all are WebSphere 5). This is what we did
    1. Took a copy of the ear thats works.
    2. Extract.
    3. Modified the serverrepository.xml by using the lh command. Use the newly generated xml file in the extracted folder (WEB-INF), Pack it to a new EAR
    4. Configure the datasource that will be used to communicate with the Index repository.
    5. Deploy.
    Deployment completes successfully. However, when we try to run a task, or import file using IdM admin console, we get this error 'java.sql.SQLException:ORA-01407: cannot update ("WAVESET", "TASK", "XML") to NULL'. we even checked the user permissions on this db schema. they all look good.
    We also checked if we are using the right iiop port number in lh command.
    We arent sure what could be the issue. I am not able to simulate this issue in other environment, as they all turn out to be successful.
    any pointers?
    thanks.

    I still think it's a jdbc error.what is your DB platform?
    is you ServerRepository.xml configured with a jndi data source (and that's why you use iiop)? If so then try to create a new connection through a direct DB URL like:
    lh setRepo -tDBTYPE -uURL -Uusername -Ppassword -n -oServerRepository.xml
    and then try to re-run your update command. if it fails again then please post the complete error message.. hope this helps

    Technically speaking, a piece of text must be well-formed before it can be called an XML document. So you cannot yet say the returned text is XML.
    The first thing to do is to check whether it is. Use, for example, isXml(someString) to check whether someString is well-formed XML.
    There is no one standard way to convert text to well-formed XML. This is because there are infinitely many ways in which text can fail to be well-formed. The easiest solution for you will be to learn the rules for well-formed XML.
    Any elementary book on XML will teach you that. If you find books old-fashioned, then you could instead google well-formed xml .

    I have recently upgraded my MacBook to OSX Lion. Now I cannot get access to my windows-partition. I cannot choose booting from OSX Lion or Windows. Who can help???

    I believe that Lion and Mountian Lion use BootCamp 4.0 and earlier versions used 3.0. I don't use BootCamp but from reading The link below you need to get new drivers, burn a cd and install. Check out #20 on this page.

  • Formatting XML written to a file

    Hi,
    I am trying to write runtime data (XML) to a file. I am doign the following to write to the file:
    public void saveFile() throws Exception {
    try {
    TransformerFactory transformerFactory =
    TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer transformer = transformerFactory.newTransformer();
    DOMSource source = new DOMSource(doc);
    OutputStream output = new FileOutputStream(XMLFile);
    StreamResult result = new StreamResult();
    transformer.transform(source, result);
    output.flush();
    output.close();
    } catch (Exception x) {
    throw x;
    The output from the above code is a clutter of elements. All the elements are on the same line some times.
    1) How can I format the output? (Indent the elements in the file)
    Is there a way to achieve this?
    Sometimes, I see a square character at the end of some lines. I thought the output file is corrupt because of this character. But it does not seem to be a problem.
    2) How do I avoid this character?

  • Using a CWM format XML as datastore; COM SDK to read the file and create Universe

    Hello everyone
    We are in the process of migrating from a metadata store to BusinessObjects Universe and the plan is to use Java/COM SDK to accomplish that. We have run into limitations with both the SDKs. Java SDK doesn't provide that facility and using COM SDK we are trying to read from a XML file (metadata in CWM format) and create the universe but so far haven't been successful. If the (Universe)Designer can read a CWM format xml file (say created from BODS) we are wondering why can't a customer made COM program do the same.
    Has anyone attempted this and been successful. Please acknowledge.
    Thanks

    I have written C#.NET code to build universes on the fly using the Designer SDK with no problems.  However, I wasn't using CWM formatted data to do this.
    I have two suggestions for you:
    1.  Since not all of the functionality in the Designer tool seems to be available through the SDK, can you parse the CWM xml file in your code and build the universe based on the data instead of trying have Designer build it?
    2.  Since you're using Java, you may get better answers by posting this question in the Java SDK Application Development space here:  http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/java-sdk

  • PO Line cannot choose other inv item

    Hi,
    I am using R12 PO module to create one PO, and on the PO line, After I choose the PO line type as Service, I cannot choose other item on the line even after I changed the PO line type to Goods. I am sure that many item assigned to this Org for I am using the M1 to test.
    Hope someone can give me a shed light about.it is a bug or something, I am wondering.
    David

    Hi,
    can you clarify?
    For what I understand you:
    1) Create a new line as service.
    In this case for what I know you will be able to select only the category and give a description. So is intended behavihour.
    2) Change the line from Service to Goods. In this case you would be able to select inventory items. I do not know if it helps but if you created a custom responsibility have you checked the 'Organization Access' in inventory?
    We are on R12 and I do not have any problem like yours.

  • How to send a Material Idoc in format XML to SQL Server DB?

    Hi,
    I am creating a Material Idoc in format XML and I need send the same to a SQL Server DB.
    In the transaction BD10 I create the XML Idoc, but the same is stored in the SAP Server and I need send this to an external SQL Server DB.
    Somebody knows how to send automatically the XML Idoc to a SQL Server DB?
    Thanks and regards!

    Hi,
    All your XML idoc will get store in App layer,you can ask your Unix expert to write the unix code to fetch these XML idoc files and transfer to destination based on time period set by conjob.
    This is simple & easy job for any UNIX expert.

  • How to change Un formatted XML to Formatted XML in SSRS ?

    Hi Friends,
    I have an issue with SSRS report when exporting it into xml , it's showing un formatted xml like below
    but my requirement is it has to show formatted xml like below
    Please help me with this issue,
    NOTE: here i am building reports on Cube.
    Thanks in advance.
    Naveen

    Hi NaveenMSBI,
    By default, the XML rendering extension does not display formatted textbox values. In this case, we can use the UseFormattedValue device information setting to make the XML rendering extension display textbox values formatted the same way they are formatted
    in report viewer or report designer preview.  When UseFormattedValue is set to true, the formatted value is used instead.
    You can specify UseFormattedValue directly on the URL against the ReportServer endpoint or in a SOAP request. This can also be configured as the default for all XML rendering extension by editing the RSReportServer.config file.
    For the details, please refer to the links as follows:
    Passing Device Information Settings to Rendering Extensions

    Hope this helps.

  • Port and XML Schema

    I wanted to configure the Port and XML schema for a repository.
    I followed the following steps.
    I have XML Schema file in my local disk. Then I created Port in the console.
    However I am not able to see any folder structure getting created on unix server. The port was saved successfuly.
    I can not see the Ready folder for this particular folder.
    Can you please help me?

    Hi SudhaViz,
    Firstly create a remote system and associate that with the port.
    You can find the port in the following path of that particular remote system.
    C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 7.1\Server\Distributions\HostName_DB\Repository Name\Inbound\Remote_System\Port\Ready,
    C being the drive where you have installed MDM Server
    Thank you,

    Use SQL/XML functions to build and serialize the document as CLOB in a single query :

    Then you can call DBMS_XSLPROCESSOR.CLOB2FILE to write the CLOB to a file, no need of an intermediate table.
