  • Having a carriage jam with your Officejet 8600?

Gettting a carriage jam message and cannot get rid of it?
Sometimes the carraige gets locked because of a paper jam. You can unplug it, and move the carriage to the center. Look the right of it (the area where it came from), check for any paper. Alot of times paper is crumpled up, and stuck in that area, and the carriage cannot lock in, beacuse it blocked.
Here is a link that will assist with the carriage jam also.

  • Windows 2000 support/OfficeJet 7310 carriage jam

I have an OfficeJet 7310 that has run into a jammed carriage error. I think the sled below the carriage that caps the cartridges may not be retreating enough and causing the carriage to jam on the right. I've read some information, but has anyone run into this on this printer and have some clues about possibly fixing it?
I have one Win2K computer still in use that needs to print and scan. I know there is no official Win2K support for most newer printers, but are there any workarounds for some models that are either still available or still in stores? Maybe using a driver for a related model?
Otherewise, I may risk some money and buy a used one from eBay.

This 'Clear carriage jam and press OK to continue' Message Appears on the All-in-One document may offer some help, if you haven't tried all the solutions listed already.

  • Carriage Jam on C7180 All-In-One

I had a functioning all-in-one until I tried to clear a paper jam.  After removing most of the paper from the back as instructed I noticed a few bits under one of the rollers and had to use a tweezers to remove it from the front. I am stil getting a "clear carriage jam" message and the printer will not shut down properly. Prior to this the only snafu was that the printer would not always accept the command to print "fast draft" from some internet sites.
So far, I have tried disonnecting the printer and insepecting it from the back and the front. I cannot see any paper remnants inside. Any ideas on something else I might try?

    Success!
Following this document was the key. On one of the steps I saw the carriage return move freely left and then dock on the right. I then gently moved it left and voila a crunched up piece of paper became visible. I would NEVER  have been able to find it without moving the carriage return from its docked position on the right.

  • Officejet 7130 printer Carriage Jam

My Officejet 7130 All In One has experienced a jammed carriage. Yesterday when preparing to make some copies, I turned the unit on, as it went into the initializion process the carriage began to move and a grinding noise was heard. This was followed by a message on the display stating "Carriage Jam, open carriage door, clear jam, close door and press return." This was done. Now when trying to start the printer the carriage starts to move but when it gets almost to the right it is stopped again with the grinding sound.. The display now says "open door Latch the Carriage, close door and press return."  It appears that the carriage is blocked at about the location where the output tray guides are located and a white part just to its right.
How does one "Latch" the carriage?

    Hello,
If you see a belt out of its place, then its not a good sign. Hope it is not broken.
Is the belt translucent with lines on it ( similar to bar code lines ) ? if yes , then that could be a Encoder strip.
In either cases, the printer has to be serviced.
    I'd recommend 2 solutions ...

  • C4599 Install problem Cannot print alignment page, carriage jam message, says to remove cardboard

Just set up the printer but it will not print the alignment page because of a "carriage jam".  It says to remove the cardboard but there is no cardboard in the printer.  What should I do?

ok, when I thought the problem was resolved, it was temporary. The problem is back. I have searched the forums multiple times and can find no other problems or discussions similar to mine. I even went so far as to reload my machine from scratch. I have the exact same problem. I can reproduce it by creating a new blank project and adding a single empty report definition to the project. If I then try to go into the Page Setup dialog, i get the following error
    Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer
    Out of memory.
    OK
The dialog then appears but is empty. If I go to the preview of the report and select the Print Report button, VS2008 gets the following error
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program: ...(x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    OK
I get the same out of memory error in the standalone designer. I have DEP turned off at the BIOS level as well as via the following bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
I then went to my home machine which has VS2008 and Vista64 and installed Crystal12 and SP1 and had the exact same issue. Also when I run my app in debug mode from VS I cannot assign a printer to the report. It gives an exc eption that says that is an invalid printer. If I exit VS and run the same exe, I can assign a printer and run the report.
While I am developing with Vista64, I am targetting x86 machines, not 64bit machines. Am I really the only one with this problem on 2 boxes I tried it on? Is there any help?
I am creating a standard VB forms app nothing web related.
    Thank you

    Hi Randy3924 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with removing the ink cartridges again due to a Carriage Jam error message on the printer.
Try the following link that deals with A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays for HP Officejet 4400 (K410), Deskjet Ink Advantage (K209), and D....
If this does not resolve the issue because you are still not able to move the carriage, I suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • Carriage Jammed... sticky ink...error

I have an Officejet J5780. It started out as once every ten print jobs, now it's after every print job, I get the "Carriage Jammed, clear jam and press OK" It is stuck on the right side (not left as the HP support instructions state) I've read all the forums I could find similar to mine, I have looked at the clear strip (encoding strip) it is clean. I think I have narrowed it down to this...
there is an excess of dried ink all over the gears of that tray that slides forward when the cartridges are in the clean position (I guess[?]) and the little tab thingy that the carriage "snaps" on when it is all the way to the right side is connected to those gears also with springs and gears. They are so gummed up, I think, the carriage is sticking on that little tab thingy on it's way back to the left side (where it hangs out after a print job). does this make sense? what can I do to break up the dried (really gooey and sticky and thick, not really dried hard) ink?
The ink's not just in the "spit" area, but above where it should be in those gears and springs.(this theory also makes sense as to why it is getting worse with time)
Message Edited by railcrew on 06-08-2009 12:37 AM

WD-40 worked, and I cleaned the encoding strip just in case.
