Cannot Click on Links from Received Email

My mother-in-law sent me a few forwards with links (ironically, about how poor Leopard is with security and a few other Leopard issues). I installed, unfortunately, Leopard and since then, have not been able to click on links that are in email I received. It worked before with the Tiger version of Mail. Help anyone??

I recently installed Leopard and then upgraded to 10.5.1 - message reads Safari cannot be used on this system. The Safari is still version 2.0.4 despite this upgrade.
Consequently I am having to use Firefox.
As the default for opening hyperlinks in Mail is Safari - anyone have a solution?
Thanks.

  • How to execute a APEX process on click of link from a email message

I have a download procedure which will ask user wheather to save or open a file. This procedure uses standard "owa_util.mime_header","htp.p('Content-length" commands do do this. The procedure works fine. I'm sending a mail to user where this procedure is link to save or open a file. But for security reasons, I don't want to embed this procedure in the email, instead I want to redirect to APEX page. In the APEX page, I have put the procedure code in "onSubmit" process and it workd fine on clink of button. But I want to execute this process "Onload", so that user doesn't have click a button, all the user does click the link in email which will go to APEX page and ask wheather to save or open a file. any ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Surya

    Hi
Perhaps you could use an on-demand application process instead - you can specify these in the URL.
The URL syntax (for your link) would be like...
    f?p=application_id:page_id:session:APPLICATION_PROCESS=process_idIs this what you mean?

  • My published calendar is blank when I click the link from the email.  What am I missing?

I have published my calendar and sent an email with the info, but when I click on the link the calendar is blank.
Any ideas so that my husband can see my calendar at his work computer?

The problem with add-ons is, most work together without causing the user
too much trouble. But once in a while, someone discovers a problem. And its
hard to trace down because, as it turns out, two or more add-ons cause the
problem. That is why one of the first things a user can do is to
'''''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]'''''.
If the problem is gone that tells us something. If the problem is still there,
    that tells us something else.<BR><BR>
If you ever have a problem, and you think an add-on is the cause, the best
thing to do is to start disabling the add-ons one by one or five by five until
    the problem is gone.

  • Open a link from an email received ?

Have this problem for quite awhile, I cannot open a link from email received, what should I do, update or whatever etc., !

the Home button is the round indented button on the front of your iPad immediately above where the cable (to charge / sync) plugs in.  It has the symbol of a square with rounded corners on it.
A reset will fix somethings that a power off then on won't.
Before you do the reset you should probably quit Mail:  go to the multitasking screen  (press and hold the Home button until a screen appears with a row of preview windows for each open app, each with the apps icon underneath), then swipe the Mail preview screen (not the icon) up off the top of the screen.  (there must be no left-right motion for this to work).
As Jim said, do a reset by holding the Home button and the Power button down for 10+ seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Let go promptly when the Apple logo appears and wait 30+ seconds for your iPad to restart itself.

  • I clicked on a link from an email that may be spam/phishing.  How can I scan my mac book pro for any viruses?

I clicked on a link in an email that may be spam/phishing.  How can I scan my mac book pro for viruses?

You can just download the free ClamXav and scan your entire drive - but as there are no known viruses for OS X (although there is malware - see Thomas Reed's excellent Mac Malware Guide) it's very unlikely that you have a virus.
The best source against malware is OS X itself and common sense. Don't click on links in suspicious emails and be careful of anything that wants to install something on your computer that is not from a reputable source.

  • I don't want Firefox to be my main browser or automatically open when I click on a link from my emails, how do I disable this?

When I click on a link from my emails it opens automatically through firefox. I want to disable this feature as I would like to go back to Chrome. I don't want to uninstall Firefox all together but I don't want it to be my main browser either.
    Thank you

The only way to have such links not open Firefox is to set another browser the default browser.
That MozillaZine Knowledge Base article shows how to set another browser like IE as the default browser.

Every time I click on a link from my emails it opens two exact firefox browers to that link. Not two tabs, two browers. How can I prevent this from happening.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Click url links from email (thunderbird) don't work.

click url links embedded in email don't work. I tried the "fix" to go to thunderbird (email account) and follow tools-options-...but when I got to "advanced" it would not click. Clearing the "cache" seems to be important, but I'm not even sure that's the problem. It started to develop after I upgraded some add-on movie-audio feature to firefox. So, I suspect there is some incompatibility there. Please help.

Since posting, I figured it out with a google search - to simply find a way to identify firefox as my "Default browser" - apparently, any time you update windows or do add-ons from Bill Gates, he makes your computer take IE the default browser - so the clicking doesn't work from email on firefox. So, I went into the control panel for "default programs" and clicked again to make Firefox the one, re-booted and everything works fine now. I suspect that many people will find this approach very helpful when they get frustrated with the same problem. Thanks google!

  • Why I can't receive any verification link from my email. Thank you

Why I can't receive verification link from my email?

    Hi Brett,
I am experiencing the same problem as jhemils. Mine is a hotmail account and I have gone through every possible scenario presented by the link you provided. I have checked spam filters and spellings and everything checks out on my end. As far as I can tell, something seems to be wrong on the Apple side of things. Could you please look into this  and see what's up?
    Thanks,

  • Since the most recent Firefox update I have been unable to click through links from Windows Live to Firefox, but it works for Internet explorer?? Any explanations?

Firefox is my default browser and since the most recent Firefox update I have been unable to click through links I receive from Windows Live Email to the Firefox browser, but it works if my browser is set to IE9?? I have checked the defaults settings and both are fine, so Any explanations or ideas on how to solve this?

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 3
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 5
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 6
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 7
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • I can no longer open links from my email account into safari, how can I fix this?

I can no longer open links from my email account into safari, on my iphone 4.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Since the update I can no longer open a link from an email opened PDF file. I could prior to update

Since the update I can no longer open a link from an email opened PDF file. I could prior to update

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

I had the same problem after I gave my old iPad to my parents and tried to install Netflix. This is what you have to do:  Open iTunes on your computer, the one you sync your iPad to. Then go to iTunes Store and search for and download Netflix app. After you download it, if your iPad is set to download new purchases it may start downloading on your iPad. If so, tap and hold to delete the app (because it is trying to install the new version on the iPad) Next step, go to the App Store on your iPad and find Netflix and it should say install since you already purchased it on the computer. Tap to install, and it will say the version is not compatible, tap to download a previous version. Click that and it will install the older version!    One more thing, if and when you sync to your computer again it will say something like " Unable to install Netflix on your iPad" Just click the box to never remind you again, because it's trying to sync the newer Netflix app to your iPad, but it doesn't work so it displays the message. The old app will remain on the ipad. Hope this helps, good luck

  • I get a general failure when I click on links in my email. This happens more frequently now that I've downloaded the latest version of Firefox. Very annoying. Help!!!

I get a general failure when I click on links in my email. "General Failure" is followed by a link and I have to click ok to get rid of it. This happens every time I click on a link in my email. I've turned my computer on and off several times, but it persists. It's very annoying and I'm considering returning to Internet Explorer because of it.

This is a known bug, and has been for years. It occurs when Firefox is your default browser and some glitch (or program) changes that default. Thankfully, there's a fairly easy fix, though it does involve monkeying around in the Registry.
(Note: These instructions apply to Windows Vista and 7 only.)
    1. Click Start, type regedit, and then press Enter.
    2. Navigate to the following entry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\ddeexec
    3. In the center pane, double-click the Default entry, then remove whatever value is there (it'll probably be a weird string of numbers and commas).
    4. Click OK, then exit Regedit.
    5. If Outlook and/or Firefox are open, close them, then restart them.
