Cannot clone my 750 GB HD - Pavillion Elite e9150t Desktop

I have an HP Pavilion Elite e9150t PC (from July 2009) with 12 GB of RAM and a Seagate Barracuda 750 GB hard drive running Windows Vista Home Premium. I want to clone my 750 GB hard drive onto a new 3 TB Seagate Barracuda SATA 3 6 GB/s drive. For 6 months I have been working with Symantec System recovery and Seagate Technical support. All the attempts to clone the drive have failed. I tried updating the Intel chipset, which now allows me to see the entire 3 TB. I have upgraded some drivers. I have backed up to another external drive and then restored form it (in both Seagate Disk Wizard and Symantec System Recovery (and Ghost). Nothing works. I had both drives connected to the motherboard and tried to format the 3 TB drive - it was proceeding and then triggers a blue screen of death.
I tried another 3 TB drive - no luck. I also tried cloning with a new 2 TB drive - same problem. Even a new 1 TB drive had the same problem.
I think it might be a motherboard problem, but the HP Diagnostic tests all indicate that that the hardware is running fine. More info: When I go onto HP's website for my model and tried to update the BIOS, I get a msg saying "Incorrect BIOS for my system (253). Please download patch again. if error continues, contact support." Coincidentally I replaced my motherboard back in 2011 under warranty for other reasons. Could it be that I need to replace it again? Or could it be that the issue is with the new 4k Sector hard drives are somehow not able to interact properly with my motherboard?
Any ideas ? I want to clone my drive to my new 3TB hard drive and then upgrade to Windows 7.

The first thing to do is to stop trying to clone your hard drive to 3 TB hard drive. You can use the 3TB hard drive only for data storage and not a boot drive as the BIOS in your PC will not support a boot hard drive over 2.2 TB. Mount the new hard drive and use the Seagate Wizard tool to format the hard drive. The below chart provided by Hitachi will show you what is possible for hard drives over 2.2TB.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't have another monitor to try, but the artifacts seem to sometimes move along with the mouse cursor. Sometimes I can scrill the artifacts away, other times the screen freezes.
I do have room for a double width card, but I was looking at the XFX R7 250E 800MHz 1GB DDR5 DP HDMI DVI Graphics Card, which seems to be a newer model of the XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 . Both are single wide and don't need an extra power connection.

Can I put a EVGA GeForce GTX 650 2GB in my HP Pavillion Elite 380t

I currently have ATI Radeon HD 5450 video card that came with my HP Pavillion Elite 380t when I bought it a few years ago. I am now using new Adobe Cloud 2014 products including Premiere Pro, After Effects , Audition. I have been getting messages saying the GPU requires approved NVIDIA graphics card and CUDA 5.0 or later, Mercury Playback Engine, etc. A friend suggested getting a EVGA GeForce GTX 650 2GB. I am trying to figure out if that is a good option and if I can put it into my current computer.

I have seen some posts out here where using the NVIDIA 650 was problematic.
I have the same motherboard in my HP e9280t and I was was successful with using the NVIDIA 460 and the 660. The 460 watt power supply in your PC should be enough for the NVIDIA GTX 660.

after i have upgraded to version 3.3, clone retouch feature cannot clone the selected source to the destination. the color tone and level is out of place. please help in this area.. is there any fixing? or is that a new feature or bug there? thank you..

Both cloning and repairing using the Retouch Brick work fine here.
Have you tried it on a few different Images (taken at different times, different formats, different cameras)?
It's a minor bit of voodoo, but you might reboot and see if the problem persists.

Hp Pavillion Elite m9040n-Computer turns on but nothing happens

I have an old Hp Pavillion Elite m9040n that runs Windows Vista home 64bit.
I'll try to recall what happened. I always had trouble with the computer running slow, but earlier this year I had some trouble with malware that started causing the computer to crash. I cleared the malware out and because I was still having problems with windows running slow I removed windows vista and installed an older version of Ubuntu(which was also acting funny as far as freezing up and refusing to run programs. One day I got another blue screen of death and it would do it every time I restarted the computer. Now when I start up the computer, the monitor immediately goes to sleep and the computer makes no noise except for the fans running.
Sorry if this isn't enough info, I'm in a rush right now. I'll answer any other questions about the problem if necessary.

Hi , Have you tried to reseat the RAM ( memory ) in your computer ? Let me know if you know how to do this if not i can talk you through it . If a memory module has failed it will stop the computer from starting . Could also be a failed power supply but checking the RAM first is the best way forward. Checkurtech

Should be ok to use 2TB HDD and lower. Anything bigger/larger (capacity) than 2.2TB you may get problem and have to do more work to be able to get it right.

Make sure that the power supply unit is powerful enough. It's a desktop so adding a 2 or even 3TB hdd shouldn't be a problem..

HP Pavilion Elite e9280t Desktop PC power on/start windows issue

HP Pavilion Elite e9280t Desktop PC, Windows 7 Pro. When powered on (using the power switch), the blue power light and amber hard drive lights on the front illuminate, but monitor shows no signal and the keyboard lights do not come on. F10 on the keyboard doesn't bring anything up on the screen either. Sounds like there is hard drive activity, but the amber light does not flash. If I put a bootable dvd in the drive, it appears to read the dvd, but does not boot from it (nothing appears on the monitor.) Monitor, keyboard and mouse have been verified operational. Hard drive data appears to be intact and have verified 12v and 5v operational from power supply. Haven't found a place to verify 3v power. Depressing the power switch does not turn the computer off, only way is to unplug the power cord. This sympton happened a couple of weeks ago, but after several power cycles, it booted fine and worked for a while. Not this time, though.

Pavillion Elite e9120y Hangs at HP splash screen, I've tried it all...

About a month ago I came home to find my PC stuck on the HP splash screen. After hours of trial and error I managed to repair the boot sectors by manually inputing codes into a command prompt. Unfortunately, I had to go to work immediatly after. When i returned, the screen was stuck at the splash screen again, and I haven't seen windows yet..
This desktop is about 2 years old now (no longer under warantee), although its relatively lightly used. At the time of failure it was running Vista 64 Bit. None of the hardware has been ugraded/modified in any way.
Only sometimes can I reach any of the splash screen menus (BIOS, Diagnostics, etc). These actions, and reaching the post screen, can only be executed by unplugging the power cord from the PSU for X amount of time (usually 5-10 mins, which is annoying to do EVERY time..)
Things I've tried:
-Removing all plugged in components except the stock keyboard and monitor
-Re-seating all of the components/wires
-Tested Mobo (removed memory, it beeped and made me happy ha)
-Individually seated each RAM stick in each slot.
-Repairing boot sectors
-Removing CMOS battery to reset
-Removing biult in media card reader (rare, yet prospectable issue)
-Many of the things in the recovery disk
-Removing USB ports from Mobo incase of short circuit (I think I did that correctly..)
Notes:
-Ever since I was able to first repair the boot sectors, my PC will NOT make it to the Windows Recovery Environment (The disk reading progress will freeze at a random spot on the progress bar and will not complete)
-Diagnostics froze after the Memory test completed
-*cringes* I have not backed up ANYTHING due to lack of funds for an external HD (though I've purchased one now incase I make it to my OS), so reformatting is really not an option.. Too many important school documents
-I have close to 10 years of intermediate software/hardware building/troubleshooting experience, but there are still many things that I do not know or may have overlooked! Any help is appreciated!
-*Sometimes* the post screen/BIOS does not display my 2 optical drives and/or my 1 hard drive device
-It's new favorite thing to do is say "Reboot and select proper media device," even though my boot order is correctly set in BIOS
Quick recap:
-HP Elite 9120y Vista 64 bit
-Cannot boot to Windows (most commonly hangs at splash screen)
-I've tried as much as I can think of/find online, and I'm tearing my hair out. Any help would be amazing!

Well I knew that there were quite a few problems with mobos used by HP, but I was unaware of the lawsuit. Unfortunately, its far past its warrantee. It's just unfortunate because all of the components are in great shape and it was treated very well. And aside from Windows Vista, it performed great all along until the day it decided to do this. I have literally tried everything, the next step is diagnosis from my computer engineering friends hah. You'd think being a student at a tech school would aid my effort. So far, no help..
There appear to be as many solutions to this problem as people walking the planet.. and none of them work!
Anyone who has fixed this problem please leave any information. Even if I have already tried that and it didn't solve my problem, it's worth a second shot. This computer was not cheap!

Cannot clone Double?

Can anyone kindly point out why the code cannot compile? (Double as a subclass of Object has a clone() method.)

Please notice that Object's clone() method is protected. This means it is not part of the public interface of the class.
The only way this would be so is if someone overrides the clone() method to be public.
Also understand that an instance of the Double class is immutable. This means that you cannot change its state once it is instantiated. This also means that there is no need for 2 of the same Double object. You can use the same object as many times as you like, and nothing will be adversely affected. In other words, there is no need to clone an immutable object. Just assign the same object to another reference.
Double d1 = new Double("40");
Double d2 = d1; // this will work fine.

When I do the following manually the repo gets cloned perfectly:
git clone http://github.com/bbidulock/blackboxwm
I cannot just install blackbox from community repo since it does not contain "bt" library required by bbkeys.
Please help me

It seems you cannot clone objects with attributes using lazy loading in JPA

I have an entity with an attribute using lazy loading:
@Entity
public class B {

Assume the following code:
A a1 = new A();
A a2 = new A();
B b1 = EntityManager.find(B.class, ...);
b1.setA(a1);
B b2 = b1.clone();
b2.setA(a2);
Now with lazy loading enabled I get b1.getA() == a2 instead of b1.getA() == a1. Moreover, the debugger displays the same value holder in b1 and b2 for the attribute a. It appears as if cloning does not make a (deep) copy of the value holder managing the attribute a.
How can I create a copy b2 of b1, such that the value holder managing a in b1 is a different object as the value holder managing a in b2?

I have filed a bug to have this addressed in Oracle TopLink 11gR1. I would recommend you file a bug against TopLink Essentials in GlassFish or if you have a support contract report the issue to metalink to have the issue resolved.
If this is urgent I did try fixing the issue with a small helper method using some reflection. This method is simplified through its throwing of Exception. If you wish to use something like this I would recommend proper error handling.
