Cannot close CC applications because they do not appear to be running - therefore cannot update to CC 2014 applications

Mac OS 10.9.4 . . . Trying to update my CC apps to latest versions of CC (2014) InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop (and even Bridge CC). I keep getting messages specific to each update –e.g. InDesign CC (2014) Update, Please close the following applications to continue: -Adobe InDesign C. ALL Adobe appear to be closed. None of the application icons are running. No Adobe apps are listed in Force Quit as running and none are listed in Activity Monitor as running. In Activity Monitor, I have tried quitting all Adobe related items: Adobe IPC Broker and Adobe CEF Helper (those were the only two items running that seemed related to Adobe), none of those steps helped me complete the updating process. How can I close apps that are not running? Where are they running? Should I try to uninstall them?

Hello, and thank you for your suggestion, Sarthak.
No luck with that either, evidently.
I restarted, then noticed in Activity Monitor that restarting my machine had also restarted several of the CC (2014) apps even though I did not launch them manually. I used force quit on them in Activity Monitor, then attempted to perform the updates in Creative Cloud. I started with InDesign CC (2014) Update and got the same instructions to –Please close the following applications to continue: - Adobe InDesign C
