Cannot close or open tabs successively by one middle click

Hello,
I cannot close, or open tabs by just one middle click on every tab. It is like if there is a timeout before it opens or close a new tab again, or I have to double click with middle button.
I have taken a look in about:config but found nothing that indicates such a feature.
Thank you

You should absolutely never get a pop-up for The Safe Mac or the AdwareMedic websites.s.
Tom,
After reading through what I presume is your website, which is highly informative and very well written by the way, I come away with the impression that you really have a firm understanding of the dirty things that can go on inside your machine and how they manage to exploit certain vulnerabilities.
With respect to pop-up ads and Safari, I have a question that you may able to answer. Three parts:
(1)  How are they managing to get around all reasonable methods to block pop-up ad scripts? One would think that your browser ought not perform automatic script functions (like opening a new page ... or several) without your doing anything.
By example, I'm on several forums and if I am sent a PM a notification pop-up will appear. Since I have Adblock software enabled, clicking OK will not send me directly to my inbox or open a new page as it would normally. In other words the software is actively blocking the re-direct script. Perfect. But if I go to some random website, especially ones that stream out of market Sports telecasts,  it turns into a pop-up festival.
(2) Not even blacklisting certain URLs in AdBlock or trying to wildcard a URL in the blacklist stops them. Is there another method or  tool you recommend?
(3) What is MacKeeper and why does 2 out of every 5 pop-up ads ask me to try MacKeeper. I swear, I'm surprised someone hasn't tired DDoS attack their website out of frustration from the way they invade your web experience.
Sidenote: Thank you creating AdWareMedic. I installed it this morning and ran a scan. Fortunately the report was clean, but I'll be adding this to my monthly system health check and clean-up.

I have the same problem and tested it in Safe Mode, and did the disable the add-ons thing. Everything went OK, even up to the last add-on. There wasn't a hint of the problem anymore, so I went back to regular use of FF (3.6.12) again. WELL, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!!! I agree with the person who said that your supposed troubleshooting is B.S. You blame the user instead of saying something useful like "OK, we heard you (and over two dozen others) and we know it's not your doing, and it's OUR PROBLEM, and we're going to look into it and figure out how to fix it, AND we'll get back to you when we do and tell you how to fix it too." THAT's the kind of answer we FF users want to hear, not some claptrap about how WE the users didn't try hard enough to fix it on our own!

  • IOS 8 - How to Close All Open Tabs in Safari?

ioS 8 - Is there a way to close all open tabs in Safari on the iPhone?  The workaround in iOS 7 was to hit the "Private" button and then click "Close All Tabs," but that no longer works with the revised private browsing method.  Clicking each tab to close multiple tabs is burdensome if there are a lot open.

Yes, this is VERY painful after a few days of using Safari: Having to close one window at a time. Ugh.

  • I want to use Control-W and Control-T to close and open tabs in OS X

On Windows, you can use Ctrl-W and Ctrl-T to close and open tabs. On OS X, you have to use Cmd-W and Cmd-T instead (this bothers me because it is asymmetric with using Ctrl-Tab and Shift-Ctrl-Tab to navigate between tabs). Ctrl-W and Ctrl-T don't seem to do anything by default, so it would be nice if both Cmd or Ctrl could be used as a modifier for closing and opening tabs. Is there a way to accomplish this?
I tried using the System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts tab to set Ctrl-W and Ctrl-T to operate the Close Tab and New Tab menu options, but, this does not work; when I press those key combinations, the File menu briefly flashes, but nothing else seems to happen.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • When i close an open tab, other tabs that are open unexpectedly close as well.

i often have many open tabs, which show below the quick-launch bar. when i attempt to close one [e.g., three mozilla tabs about different subjects] others close with only a warning, something like, "closing this tab will also close 6 other tabs."
another example: google calendar, which sometimes ends up with three open tabs below quick launch, even when i select google calendar from the bookmark toolbar.
i hope this is not convoluted. i tried my best to explain my dilemma.
    thanx.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Firefox29 cannot close or switch tabs on OSX10

clicking on a tab no longer switches to corresponding tab window
no way to close tab; the 'x' is gone and right clicking the tab just shows the customize menu for the browser
this rendered it unusable for me and I had to switch back to FF 28

Problem with frozen / unselectable tabs applies to PCs as well, the extension that was affected by Firefox 29 is
<br>'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/how-many-times-can-i-back/ How Many Times Can I Back?]''' :: Add-ons for Firefox
You will have to disable the extension for now. I see you went back to Firefox 28 (a lot easier on your health). It was really a pain trying to switch tabs strictly through the "List all tabs" drop-down, and use Ctrl+T, and Ctrl+W (or for you with the Mac Cmd key ⌘ ).
I had the same problem, it is now reported in
<br>[http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.php?title=Problematic_extensions Problematic extensions - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
Firefox 29 made changes to Tabs, and removal of the Addons Bar. since you also show Status-4-Evar in your "MORE SYSTEM DETAILS" you use the Addons bar and have a problem there as well. You also have another extension one with the word "tab" in it "Old Firefox Tab 1.0" which could be affected as well.
Either of these extensions will restore the addons bar, I prefer
[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/ The Addon Bar (restored)] which I prefer because I have tabs on the bottom.
Those who can stand tabs on top and the hugh Firefox button may prefer <br>[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) :: Add-ons for Firefox]
<br>I see you did try that when you were on Firefox 29.
Both extensions preserve "Ctrl+/" shortcut to toggle the Add-ons bar.
To restore Tabs on the bottom (in Firefox 29)
<br>[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fdgueux-tabs-on-bottom/ Tabs on Bottom (Australis) :: Add-ons for Firefox]
If you look in your "'''MORE SYSTEM DETAILS'''" in the right hand panel you can see what see of the extensions and plugins that you have. For instance
<br>'''How Many Times Can I Back?''' 0.2.2011012001 ([email protected])
    <br>'''Old Firefox Tab 1.0''' ({b4b3e886-52d2-11e3-b4ad-f2ea6188709b})
    <br>'''Status-4-Evar''' 2013.10.31.22 ([email protected])
I'm working through my own problems and will be able to use Firefox 29 even though some of my toolbar buttons are almost invisible (only my own styles are affected by that).

  • If I cannot "go back" when using a website I cannot close that specific tab and have to close them all. I have had to restart from scratch several times today . Having a choice of closing the last tab only would be very useful. Why can't I?

After I browsed a page in a websit, I could not close that page by using the X in the rt. hand top corner as when I did this Firefox told me that it would close all tabs. It was the only way out so I closed them and started from scratch.

    mratlasdreamz,
which app are you running when you get the annoying chime as you try to correct a typo?
If you’re sure that you have a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and 2 GB of 667 MHz RAM, then what you have is not a MacBook Pro, but an Early 2008 MacBook (did it really cost £2000 then?) — and with that model of MacBook, you could upgrade to Lion. Whether you stay with Snow Leopard or upgrade to Lion, you might find that upgrading your RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB could be helpful.
You can confirm which model you have by selecting About This Mac on the Apple menu, clicking the “More Info…” button, then clicking on the “System Report…” button, and looking at the “Model Identifier” value in the Hardware Overview section. If you have an Early 2008 MacBook, then the model identifier will say “MacBook4,1”. If it gives a different model identifier, then include that model identifier in your reply, and we can determine which model you have, and which CPU and speed of RAM it uses.
Note that Firefox 26 still supports Snow Leopard, and that Mozilla makes no CPU recommendations for Firefox on OS X other than “an Intel x86 processor”.

  • How do you make sure internet is switched off with the new iso7. In iso6 you pressed the centre button twice and it allowed you to close down open tabs I want to do the same....or go back to is06

How do you close down the internet in ISO7

You do the same thing, but now your open apps are displayed in a window view. Swipe left/right to find the app you want to stop, then swipe the app up to remove it. By the way, this doesn't turn off the internet. It only removes the app from memory that may be accessing the internet.

  • When downloading, it does not finish the download. Firefox stops and closes all open tabs/windows

    no special webside or file

Is that Firefox safe mode or Windows safe mode?
If it does work in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
*Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
*Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • How to fix forgetting previously opened tabs when starting Firefox by clicking on a link in an external application?

Hello, I have the option Startup: "Show my windows and tabs from last time" enabled. Works fine, except when Firefox starts when I click a link in an external application (typically Thunderbird). Then, the new link gets opened in a new tab, Firefox remembers the number of tabs I had opened when I last closed it, but all the "old" tabs are blank. Can I somehow fix this behavior?
Disabling add-ons does not help. Clicking on a link in an external application when Firefox is already opened works OK. I have been using Firefox for quite a short time now (probably half a year) and this problem was always there (i.e. it is not due to a new update).
    Thank you.

If Firefox is closed and an external link opens Firefox, you need to go to History > Recently Closed Tabs and open those tabs before closing Firefox. If you don't the "previous session" will be gone and only the one page that the external program opened will be the new "previous session".
If that isn't satisfactory, you'll need to install a "session manager" type extension to remember more than "the last session" only.

  • Cannot close tabs as sites open, no 'X' in tabs. Each new site visited creates another, unclsable tab.

On all 4 betas, including RC, each time I visit a website, a new tab opens, which has no 'X' to close, thus it stays open until I close Firefox and restart. How do I close a tab to a visited site? It really clutters things.
Previous versions (3 series) have an 'X' which allows one to close an open tab. None of the betas or current RC have a close button.
Do I have to exit Firefox in order to get rid of a dozen unclosable tabs? Only way around I found so far is to disable tabs.

    cor-el,
The last time was a charm. I went in Safe mode, reset to defaults and viola, all is well! I had to re-sign in Last Pass & a few others, but not only do I have my 'Xs' back, but Firefox 4 now remembers my sign in, etc., just like the 'old days'.
Thanks for all the help everyone!
