Cannot complete form using Adobe Reader - Mac OS X 10.6.8

I have been using Adobe Reader to complete forms for my Bank for more than 9 months without any problems.  I'm using Adobe Reader 10.1.1 for Mac.  I recently upgraded my OS from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 and this is the first time I've tried to use Adobe Reader since the upgrade. Today when I opened my form using Adobe Reader I cannot select and type in any of the text fields.  Trying to click inside a text box simply seems to 'select' the entire page.
I checked online but could not find any compatibility issues.  I'm hoping that I've overlooked something very simple that I should have done but have no idea what that could be.
I would be very grateful if someone could advise me what my problem might be.
Cheers
Tricia

Thanks for responding Ankit.  No, I saved the form to a folder on my desktop and I open it using the Adobe Reader app.  It has always worked without a problem before.  I checked my husband's iMac (which has the same saved form on his Desktop).  He is also running OS X 10.6.8.  On his machine it opened without a hitch so I used his computer to fill in the form and print it out.  Obviously, if it works on his computer and he's also using 10.6.8 it's not related to the upgrade.
I trashed my copy of Adobe Reader and have re-downloaded the app.  Will install it and see whether it now works or if the problem persists.  Will post back the results.'

  • Barcoded forms using Adobe Reader

    Hi,
    As previous discussion started by me, we have developed a Barcoded form for our work process.
    It's use to be succesful filling & editing barcoded form with Adobe Acrobat reader 9.3 after we license the form in Livecycle.
    But just know the reader fails to read the barcoded form.
    After the user fills details on the form, the barcode field dissapear from the screen (blank grey spot).
    Is this because of another licensing process needed? Or it is only a technicality problem.
    Thanks & regards,
    Raja

    I have the same problem as Raja. And it does not help to reduce the amount of information in the barcode. The barode field stil turns gray in Adobe Reader 9.
    The strange thing is that there are no problems when I open and fill out the form in Adobe Reader 7.

  • I cannot complete installation of Adobe Reader to Read PDF

    I cannot complete the Adobe Reader Free installation to print or read documents, I get to the final install and the program does not install. it is in my downloads but I cannot finish the final steps? Help Please Jimbo4070

    I'm sure that folks will be able to assist with getting Adobe Reader installed.  However, I just wanted to first make sure that you realize that your Mac can natively view and print PDF file using the Preview application.  Just double-click any PDF and it should open just fine.
    Assuming that you already realize that, but still want Adobe's Reader, please post what happens when you run the installer that you have downloaded from the Adobe Reader page (http://get.adobe.com/reader/).  Do you get a specific error message?

  • Cannot submit form with Adobe Reader 7

    I have created a fillable form in Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and have enabled user user rights so that people using reader can save a copy of the PDF.
    On the form itself, there is a button that is of type submit that specifies a valid URL and submits the data as XDP.
    Whilst working in Lifecycle Designer or Adobe Professional, I am able to submit the form and its content. Once I open the PDF in Adobe Reader 7.0, when I try to submit the form I always get this error "cannot handle content type text/html; charset=utf-8".
    I have no idea what is the error and I am hoping some one can provide some guidance.
    Thanks

    It is certainly true that Adobe Reader can't handle text/html - it
    isn't a web browser and doesn't have HTML function - so what other
    content types have you tried? (I think some versions may give the
    error and others may fail silently). I don't think Adobe are ignoring
    the problem: the message is clear and Reader is working as designed. I
    imagine to work you need to return a suitable PDF or XML response.
    I agree it would be very helpful if Adobe provided accessible
    information on what they do expect. This may be a reflection of their
    wish to sell LiveCycle server products to handle your submission.
    Anyone out there with a working solution?

  • Automate Printing of a fillable form using Adobe reader

    I am working on a project to automate the reporting of enrollment confirmations, etc. in a national service.
    I have written a C# program that connectd to a national service organization from a client machine and enrolls people as needed.
    Occasionally , a list of names along with enrollment status, etc - is downloaded to the machine.
    I am using ES Desiner and Adobe pro 9.0 to maintain some simple PDF forms that a C# program is filling out as each form is inspected, etc.
    This currently works fine - printing one form on demand as needed.
    I would like to move ahead one step in the automation sequence and allow the user to select which files to print from a list of files available and allow the program to simply fill out the form as needed - (it is already doing this) and print to the current default printer.
    it is my understanding that this is possible using the SDK and the standard reader - but I am having some difficulty in finding out just how to go about it.
    Can you please direct me to where I would begin learning how to do this using the SDK and the adobe reader ?

    When i say : ("it is already doing this"), I mean that the C# program is already pre-filling a form - when the file is selected and the user loads the data to the form and it is being printed when the user decides to press the print button.
    I would like to automate this sequence for the user so he/she doesn't have to do it manually , and doesn't have to do it one at a time - as it is done now -
    I have been told that this is possible using the SDK and adobe reader but it is not exactly documented in a way that i can identify .
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Cannot access or use Adobe Reader.

    Hi.  I have a Dell PC running Windows 7 64 bit.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader.   I have deleted and reinstalled the application.  I have rebooted.  I have made sure my PDF's are associated with the program.  Every PDF on my computer won't open and I get the same error message.  It simply says Attempt to access invalid address.  How can I fix this?  The problem is not with the PDF file it is with the program.  I asked this question a week ago and it went unanswered.  I have since started using Foxit Reader to read my PDF files and it is working fine.  I would like to fix this problem with my Adobe Reader.  Can someone help?  Thanks.

    Hi Lisa,
    Are you using EMET Antivirus? I have seen the issue caused due to this. Try disabling it and  check.
    I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
    The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
    Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
    In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
    The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
    Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.
    Regards,

  • Cannot print PDF using Adobe Reader XI on either laptop and two different printers.

    When attempting to print (as of today) I get two Adobe Reader windows that pop up 1) The document could not be printed. OK 2) There were no pages to be printed OK.  All help is appreciated.

    I apologize, but I don't know what other detail to provide except what I already did:
    'When attempting to print (as of today) I get two Adobe Reader windows that pop up 1) The document could not be printed. OK 2) There were no pages to be printed OK.'
    What information is needed? I truly need some help.

  • Submitting pdf form using Adobe Reader

    Using Acrobat 9 Pro I created a form to capture personal info from donors to our non-profit. When displayed in Acrobat 9 the SUBMIT button works as intended (brings up a message to send using my Email client with the pdf attached and addressed to the Email I have entered in the URL block.) Using the SUBMIT button while in Reader 9 on another PC I receive the error message that "this operation is not permitted". My preferred solution would be to enable Reader to do the same as Acrobat 9. I understand that Reader cannot save a form. Since I am only collecting at most 9 small fields I could live with just getting the data from the forms. Since the donors may have various versions of Reader, I need a solution that does not require the latest versions of Reader (8 or 9) to do these actions.
    crdever

    For your application, e-mail is probably a bad idea. However, if you insist you should have the form submit a FDF or XML data file, not the PDF. You can open the FDF and XML files in the original form to see the data if you desired. The data file submission is not limited to the 500 use limit of the form. Due to the nature of the material, I would think it is much safer to submit the data to a web server and not through e-mail that is typically not very secure.
    A last note it that e-mail submission requires the client machine to be using MAPI. If not, they will get an error and you will be blamed. Submitting to a web script avoids this issue.

  • Sumbitting Forms in Adobe Reader

    I am unable to submit my form using Adobe Reader.  When I hit the submit button, I am prompted to choose a desktop mail application or internet mail application.  I choose desktop and my Outlook account opens.  I see the file attached; however when I hit send, the message closes and I am returned to the original form.  I return to outlook but don't see anything in my sent file or my outbox.  The form owner has also told me that they have not received my responses.
    I tried uninstalling and reinstalling reader, and I also tried repairing reader.  My co-work who users reader only and outlook had no problems.
    Any ideas?

    Figured it out … something to do with having 2 Outlook profiles loaded on my computer.  Even though I was logged into my personal email profile, the file was being stored in the second profile’s outbox.  As soon as I logged into the alternate profile, the form was sent.
    I’m not sure how to change which profile forms will be sent from, but at least we know where the file went.
    Thanks again for your help!!

  • Hi, I was working on a PDF writing comments using Adobe Reader on a Mac.  I clicked save and got a 'cannot save' message.  I then clicked save as instead, Reader froze and my PDF disappeared.  The only version saved has only my first comment.  Does Adobe

    Hi, I was working on a PDF writing comments using Adobe Reader on a Mac.  I clicked save and got a 'cannot save' message.  I then clicked save as instead, Reader froze and my PDF disappeared.  The only version saved has only my first comment.  Does Adobe Reader save to temporary files that I can access in order to recover my work?  Is there any other way to recover it?  Thanks!

    Hi @Pat Willener,
    since I got the same problem as pdfprincess I hope you can help me. The 'Automatically save document changes to temporary file...' is enabled in my adobe reader.
    A file I worked (commented) on a lot crashed. When I reopened the file, adobe reader didn't ask if I want to restore my changes in this file, as it is written on the help.adobe.com page. Is there any possibility to restore the changes manually from the temporary file?
    Thanks in advance - it is really important for me to restore these changes!!

  • Adobe PDF Form (submission by email) - ok on desktop, but using Adobe Reader on iPhone cannot 'submit'

    I recently created an Adobe form (Adobe XI Pro) with a 'submit' button - submission by email (not using Forms Central).  The form works well on desktop (Outlook 2010), but when I open the same PDF on mobile (Adobe Reader installed), the 'submit' function is a dud - does nothing.  Any ideas for a fix?  Thanks.

    If your user is using Adobe Reader and wants to add an attachment to your PDF file... you need Adobe LiveCycle Designer Reader Extensions to do that...
    If your user is using Adobe Acrobat Pro then u can add attachments with this
    var myDoc = event.target;
    var sFile = "myFile" + NumericField1.rawValue;
    myDoc.importDataObject({cName: sFile});
    var myDataObject = myDoc.getDataObject(sFile);
    var sFileName = myDataObject.path;
    ListBox1.addItem(sFileName,sFile);
    NumericField1.rawValue = NumericField1.rawValue + 1;
    you can also remove the file
    myDoc.removeDataObject(sFile);
    you can also open the file
    myDoc.exportDataObject({ cName: sFile, nLaunch: 2 });

  • I have developed a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The form has several fields and some of the information is captured in a bar code. What programs must be used to open the form to properly fill the form out?  Adobe Reader, Adobe Xi, Ibook, etc.. I

    I have created a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro that contains several data fields with some feeding data to a barcode in the document.  I have a "button" set up to save and send the completed form one it is completed.  Some of the user are having troubles filling out the form as they are using various programs to do such as iBook, Adobe Reader, etc....  Sometimes the information is not transferred to the barcode and sometimes the "submittal button" doesn't function properly.
    Please provide a solution or give me a list of the programs that must be used to properly open and fill out the form.
    Greatly appreciated.

    Best option is to use Adobe Reader (or Acrobat, of course) on a desktop computer (ie, not on a mobile device). Any other configuration is likely to be problematic.
