Cannot Complete Secondary Site Creation status stays pending SCCM 2012

I am having problems completing the creation of secondary sites.  All of the secondary sites are stuck in Pending status.
hman.log on both servers reports:

These new secondary sites are off of a new primary site in another region.  In region 1, secondary site creation had no issues. I am unsure where to go from here.  I have tried deleting the secondary sites and removing all installed applications
and running through creation again.  I have also tried recreating with different site codes.  Installation appears to complete successfully and I can see my sites in ADSIEdit.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hello All.
We are in the process of creating secondary sites using powershell in the environment.Need assistance in getting a powershell script to do so as I am novoice in Powershell.

There is a cmdlet New-CMSecondarySite that does exactly this for you, see:

  • Not liking Deployment Status Monitoring in SCCM 2012 - Not enough detail

I know SCCM 2012 has made some fantastic changes to offering tools for deploying packages.  I am using and learning a lot about deploying apps using the new features of SCCM 2012 Application Management.  I still have a few apps that I need to deploy
the old way using Packages.  With the old way, I liked using task sequences and conditions with WMI Queries.  One item I found out quickly is that I am having issues with SCCM 2012 recognizing some name spaces such as root\cimv2\sms.  I am still
researching why.  The other item is reporting of advertisements or what SCCM 2012 now calls Deployments.  I am unable to find a way to get more detailed reporting on deployments that I had with SCCM 2007 using the right click tools and advertisement
reports.  The details of these reports in SCCM 2007 was really good and I was able to troubleshoot each step of a task sequence.  All I can find with SCCM 2012 is a simple description that says the "Program completed with success" or the program
failed.  Is there a way to easily get more detailed reports much like I had with SCCM 2007?  I know I am missing something really simple.  Any insight would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    BJ

It's an old thread and all, but I'd like to add to the last post.
Pellewall has 400 application type deployments - I feel bad for him. We've converted almost all of ours into packages, because application deployment doesn't Work as reliably as packages. We can't get applications to install in task sequences, and sometimes
simple installs fail for wierd reasons when deployed as application, but perform fine using the same install string as a package launched thru cmd (both as system user).
We've been using sccm 2012 for 1½ years now roughly, and I'd discourage anyone from making application type programs if they don't want a headache.
As for reporting - the builtin reports need to be modified to become useful, but they're a nice extra to have. I find the old reporting system in 2007 was much simpler and faster than srs though, but that might just be my opinion.
As times change, so do people.

  • Cannot complete document due to status of preceding document

    Hi everyone,
    We encounter the following problem;
We have a grantor application and from there we create a grantor agreement via the copy control settings in customizing.
Both transaction types have their own status profile (user status).
Now, when we have created the agreement (as follow up document), we are missing some of the user statussses, for example 'CANCEL'.
This is simply not available to select.
Investigation turns out that this is due to the fact that the preceding document (grantor application) is not yet completed. After we manually change the status of the application to 'Completed', then in the agreement we can select the missing user status.
How can we fix this? It is not a workable solution to first create the follow up document, then go back to the preceding document to change the status of that document and then go back again to the follow up document and start processing that one.
I was told that it should be possible with normal customizing to make sure that the follow up document is "leading" and will not be affected by any status of the preceding document.
Another option would be to use some function modules and badi's to make sure that the status of the preceding document is automatically set to completed during the copy control.
But to be honest, we would prefer not to enhance any FM's and/or badi's but to use standard customizing.
Does anybody have some ideas how to solve this.
Thank you very much for your help.
    Regards,
    Pieter

  • Could not connect to a site which doesnt exist anymore (SCCM 2012)

    Hi,
I am running my SCCM in a hyper-V virtual environment and I
could no longer connect to a site (for eg. abc.def.com) when I start my Configuration Manager Console .
Firstly, when I previously configured SCCM during the installation process, I configured it to join a forest, which I created, called (for eg. abc.def.com). This computer is a domain controller. 'abc.def.com' does
    not have Internet connection.
I had some network problems and due to some project changes, I have to remove abc.def.com and
connect to another network which has Internet access because I want to use Windows Intune too. So, now when I start my ConfigMgr, I naturally could not connect to 'abc.def.com'.
The question now is: "what do I have to do now to allow me to use my SCCM again?"
    Thanks.

"I have to remove abc.def.com and connect to another network"
It is very obvious that you cannot connect to the previous network. You could have added another network adapter in your hyper-v for internet connectivity. If you have changed the domain then you need to install a new domain controller and install SCCM from
    scratch.

  • Add site system role through automation, SCCM 2012 Sp1

    hi
Trying to add a reporting point through powershell or the SDK with no luck.
Does any out there have any idea how to do this? We are trying to automate the process of everything.
When adding through powershell its a sucess with the role itself, but when accessing the reporting node the console crashes and the links are missing.
    Any ideas or tips?

    This was finally fixed in
CU3 for SCCM 2012 R2 and I can confirm that it does work with CU4 for SCCM 2012 R2.
One note is that the cmdlet documentation is not 100% accurate.  For example, the example listed in get-help excludes required parameters.  Also, the parameter descriptions are not descriptive enough without knowing additional information
about the role/point.  Here is what worked for me:
    Add-CMReportingServicePoint-SiteCode$SiteCode-SiteSystemServerName$SCCMpriFQDN-DatabaseServerName$SCCMpriFQDN-DatabaseName"CM_$SiteCode"-ReportServerInstance$SCCMsqlDatabaseInstanceName -FolderName"ConfigMgr_$SiteCode"-UserName$CMAaccountConfiguredAsSSRSexecutionAccount

    Things I've tried:
    Different install folders
Using source files from the secondary site computer - got some error that the versions didn't match with the primary, even though I generated the files from the primary site.
    Pre-installing SQL 2008 R2 SP2 and SQL 2012 R2 SP1
    - With all SQL ports manually configured to 1433 - no errors on prereqs checks other than the warning about configuring minimum memory
Verified the computer account has full rights to System Management in Active Directory
    Removing all other SQL databases
Restarted the servers a million times.
Forgetting some stuff I tried I think, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion, the command runs fine in 2012 R2 as well, but where do I put the XXX.CT5 file? I did as suggested and put it in Install dir\inboxes\hman.box\ on the secondary site server but this didnt change the errors I got when retrying the
    install.
I've also created two new servers in the site, a plain as day 2012 R2 server and a plain as day 2008 R2 SP1 server (with the pre-req roles and features of course) and created new sites in SCCM and tried to setup on these new servers, I got the exact same
    problems.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Secondary site server will support the DMZ Zone?

We are planning for SCCM 2012 Migration, currently we have separate Primary server in DMZ.
Kindly suggest what is the best method to deploy in the DMZ (separate primary or secondary or DP) because we have only 500 Client in DMZ.

    Hi,
There is a blog talking about this error. You could try the method in the blog.
To summarise, when installing SCCM 2012 SP1 secondary site on a pre-configured SQL 2012 instance regardless which SQL edition is being used, “NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM” account needs to be given
securityadmin and sysadmin rights. If SQL Express is used, there are few additional steps need to be carried out to configure the SQL TCP connection as documented in my previous blog:
    http://blog.tyang.org/2012/04/09/installing-sccm-2012-rtm-secondary-site-using-a-pre-installed-sql-express-2008-r2-instance/
    Installing SCCM 2012 SP1 Secondary Site with a Pre-Configured SQL 2012 Instance

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Secondary Site SQL Express Prerequisites

Reading Microsoft's 2012 R2 Upgrade checklist (technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj822981.aspx#BKMK_UpgradeR2Checklist ) it says that Secondary Sites now require SQL Server Express 2012 CU2 for new site installs.  Is this also true for Secondary
sites prior to the upgrade from SP1 to R2?  Does a non R2 SCCM Seconday work with/support SQL Express 2012 CU1?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dave

According to the supported sql version list, a minimum of CU2 is required. See:

  • Satellite Z930-14F - cannot install Win 8.1 from SCCM 2012 R2 environment

    Dear all,
Sattelite Z series laptops cannot install OS (win 8.1) from our SCCM 2012 R2 environment.
Either no installation is starting, or pxe boot aborted error is showed.
The environment is used to successfully install OS (win 8.1) on different other vendor computers (dell) and virtual machines (hyper-v and vmware).
I've tried both UEFI and CMS boot options and tried to switch off the secure boot. Please advice.
Also, i've read about the "SCCM installation package for Toshiba". Will it help in my situation or is it just driver packages for SCCM?
    Best Regards, Evgeny.

I guess you are speaking about this Toshiba package:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/services/on-demand/business-computing/sdp120gs-v/
I dont have much experience using such SCCM drive package but it definitely compatible with the Toshiba business notebooks. The Satellite / Portege Z930 belong to the business range and I think the package should be compatible.
This package seems to be for all IT administrators who manage devices on the corporate network with SCCM 2012 R2. Toshiba offers with the new Toshiba SCCM package a solution to integrate other notebook into an existing IT infrastructure quickly and smoothly and all Toshiba Driver and application packages and a demonstration task sequence are integrated.
However, it seems that you could get more details about this package directly from Toshiba [email protected]
By the way: The Win 8.1 installation requires the UEFI mode (in case the UEFI BIOS is available). But booting from another, external source requires the disabled secure boot option.
So maybe you should use the UEFI mode but should disable the secure boot option in order to boot from LAN.

  • SCCM 2012 Clients at Secondary Site don't update and shows status as INACTIVE

I have 1 Primary site and 1 Secondary sites. I have setup Secondary site Boundaries using IP subnet.  I see that the systems from secondary
site show in the console and they all have clients installed but however 60% of the system shows client activity as INACTIVE and not receiving any heartbeat DDR none of the system showing hardware inventory.   I am not positive
where to look as far as logs are concerned.  I think the clients aren't receiving policy like they should.
Just to give a brief idea, Secondary Site server crashed and we had to rebuild the server and re install secondary site after rebuilding all the
problem. Everything is working fine in Primary site.
Secondary site is communicating with primary site MP and DP
I have checked MPcontrol.log it shows status as OK
I am able to install client through console but yes when I check the configuration manager properties it shows CCM Notification Agent as DISSABLED
and in the Action Tab Machine and User policy are the only cycles showing.
Checked replmgr.log and rclctrl.log but it’s not showing any error
Only log file which shows error is bgdserver.log  ( pasting log errors )

Help me resolve this issue as I am struggling to resolve this for almost 2 weeks.
Please let me know which logs are helpful and I'll try to add it to replies.

    Hi,
Quote:"see that the systems from secondary site show in the console and they all have clients installed but however 60% of the system shows client activity as INACTIVE and not receiving any heartbeat DDR none of the system showing hardware inventory. "
So not all the clients show inactive? Have you checked the logs in an inactive client? Such as ClientIDManagerStartup.log.
Have you checked Secondary Site server's computer name from SQL logins? You could try to remove this account, wait a while, recreate the same computeraccount login with sysadmin access. (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d5383c23-6b71-47cc-9fad-fda82a44a3aa/secondary-site-showing-inactive-clients?forum=configmanagerdeployment)
You could use Configuration Analyzer for System Center 2012 R2 to troubleshoot issues.

  • "Site System Status Summarizer still cannot access storage object" after DB Move

After our SCCM server was up and running, the DBAs moved the SQL Site Database to a new drive which is a supported SQL Operation according to this Support document:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2709082
Using the methods described by the above document we were able to restore functionality to SCCM but I am still seeing Informational messages in the SMS_SITE_SYSTEM_STATUS_SUMMARIZER component.
Site System Status Summarizer still cannot access storage object "\\<SQLServer>\S$\SMS_<SQLServer>" on site system "\\<SQLServer>". The operating system reported error 67: The network name cannot be found.
Possible cause: The site system is turned off, not connected to the network, or not functioning properly.
Solution: Verify that the site system is turned on, connected to the network, and functioning properly.
Possible cause: Site System Status Summarizer does not have sufficient access rights to connect to the site system and access the storage object.
Solution: Verify that the accounts are properly configured to allow the site to connect to the site system and access the storage object.
Possible cause: Network problems are preventing Site System Status Summarizer from connecting to the site system.
Solution: Investigate and correct any problems on your network.
Possible cause: You took the site system out of service and do not intend on using it as a site system any more.
Solution: Remove the site system from the list of site systems used by this site; this list appears under Site Systems in the Configuration Manager Console.
Possible cause: You accidentally deleted the storage object or took the storage object out of service.
Solution: The components will eventually detect that the storage object no longer exists on the site system and will either recreate it or choose a new storage object. Monitor the status messages reported by other site components to verify that this
    occurs properly.
The storage object has been inaccessible since "14/03/2015 1:23:20 AM". When you correct the problem and Site System Status Summarizer successfully accesses the storage object, Site System Status Summarizer will set the storage object's status
to OK, providing that the storage object has sufficient free space.
I have run a site reset to try and fix this but the site server still seems to be trying to access files on the old drive. Is there a method to get SCCM to start looking for these files on the NEW DB drive (H$) in my case?

Was a site reset performed at all yet? This has to be done.

Yes, I tried a site reset prior to making this post. I was sure I had read that this should resolve the issue but unfortunately it seems a site reset did not resolve the issue.
Since we are running a virtualized environment, is it possible the old drive has to still exist prior to running the site reset? If we add a small "S" drive back to the server and run the site reset again, might that help?
