Cannot compose or reply to emails

I cannot compose or respond to emails on my iPhone 5c. I can read them. My iPad mini is working  fine but not my phone.

Hi JECofer,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're not able to compose or respond to email on your iPhone, first force the Mail app to close:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
These steps come from this article:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If the behavior continues, try these steps next:
Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
Add your account again.

  • I cannot compose or reply to email messages in gmail after upgrade to 3.6.12. Shows :Loading". Gmail works ok in IE.

After upgrade to 3.6.12 Firefox I cannot compose an email in Gmail. Shows that Gmail in "loading".
Gmail works in IE. No problems before upgrade.

Did check the pref dom.storage.enabled and make sure that the value is true?
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Cannot compose or reply to emails in Outlook

I can read email but get no response when I try to reply or compose a new e-mail on my Dell laptop.  My account works fine on my iPhone.
    Help please!

    Hi,
I suggest to open Outlook in application safe and check if the same issue persists.
Click Start and start typing ‘outlook /safe’ in search bar and hit
Enter. (Without the quotes and note the space in the command)
If you’re able to work with Outlook in safe mode, then follow the steps below to disable add-ins.
Click File menu, click Options > Add-in, click Go button in the Manage: Com-in Add.
Check if there is any add-in, clear the checkbox to disable it.
If the issue still persists, create new profile in Outlook, configure an email account and verify the status.
Refer to the article provided below on how to create new profile:

    Best Regards.

  • Cannot compose or reply email with outlook using Safari

cannot compose or reply email with outlook using Safari

Thanks Allstar! I have been trying for days to figure this out

  • Cannot compose or reply using yahoo mail with firefox

I have done everything Yahoo says to do which is FF's solution to my problem, but it does not solve the problem
Yahoo mail works fine with IE & CHROME but with FF 33 & 34 it will not allow me to compose or reply to an email!
And the checkboxes with the icons inside have been there for MANY versions.
Sad that I will have to switch to Chrome or IE

I am suddenly having this problem with not being able to
    reply/forward to (certain Gmail conversations).
Now using, Mac OS 10.5.8 and experienced the presence of this issue with Firefox 3.6.10. AND 3.6.13 but not with Beta 4.
I have used Safari and the error is not reproducible. This issue is exclusively present to Gmail in FF.
I can confirm that FF config is presently dom.storage.enabled.
I have started FF in safemode, disabled, updated and enabled all plugins and add-ons, restarted FF and desktop many times, the issue is still present in FF 3.6.10/3.6.13.
Only some conversations cause this error. When I click on particular conversations reply/forward tab, the page freezes and the only way to temporarily resolve this, is to click the refresh icon as F5 will not work.
It does not freeze the whole
FF browser, just the window with Gmail.
I need a fix as FF is my primary browser.
    Thanks in advance! :-)

  • Just upgraded and cannot send or reply to email

I just bought a MacBook Pro (15"/216gHz/2gig ram) and transfered everything via firewire from my old PowerBook G4. When I attempt to reply or forward email, I click on the button (or use the menu) and absolutely nothing happens. I can click compose and get a new email screen, but when I click to send nothing happens. I receive email without troubles from all my accounts. I have no problem sending and replying to email with my old G4 (and the other computers on my Airport network - so it's not the network) and all the preference settings for my accounts are identical. Any ideas or assistance?

In the other thread where you posted about this problem, I suggested you to reset Launch Services. Have you tried that or not?
I’ll repeat it here in case someone else having the same problem comes accross this thread. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services — the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:
    Resetting Launch Services
If you prefer using a cache cleaning utility instead of following the manual procedure described in the previous article, take a look at this other article for general troubleshooting and cache-cleaning procedures. Actually, you should also verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described there:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption
The most appropriate utility for this particular problem probably is Tiger Cache Cleaner, but you may also want to consider other utilities, such as OnyX, or Cache Out X, which are free. Whatever utility you choose, be sure to read this first:
Side effects of System cache cleaning
As an example, this is how you should proceed with OnyX:
    1. Quit all applications.
    2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.
    3. Go to Maintenance > Reset and check LaunchServices database.
    4. Un-check any other pre-checked options.
    5. Click the Execute button.
    6. Restart the computer.

  • I cannot send or reply to emails

I am having problems with my emails in that I now cannot send or reply, help?

    gillian
is this of sudden onset? Update of iOS perhaps?
I have seen several of this issue come through and I thought certain it had been answered definitively, but alas, I cannot find the thread I remember via search.
The one thread that has an official Apple employee participating is since the ios 8.1.2 upgrade my pop email account will not send - there are a couple of links provided for self help and a contact link if no joy.

  • How do I set Tbird 31.5 to show options for using italics, boldface, etc. in composing and replying to email? Have been using Tbird for years and can't get it.

I really have been using Tbird for years and I can't get the options for italics etc to show when composing or replying. I'm an editor looking for job so this is relevant. Please save me from Outlook. Thanks.

I believe you can specify italics by putting a slash before and after the text, bold is done using asterisks before and after text, and underline is done using the underline character before and after text.

  • When I open Compose Email Window, anything I type -- in any location -- pops open the Search box at the bottom of the screen and my text goes into that box -- therefore cannot compose or reply to an email.... Any suggestions?

Problem is intermittent.... but most of the time (90%). Occasionally happens right in the middle of successful email start.... get two lines in, and it suddenly switches into the Find box. Have reinstalled and updated Firefox to latest version (3.5.13 as of 9/16/2010) without any change. Have shut down Firefox and restarted without change. Have rebooted entire computer without change.

    Hi,
Just several ideas to be checked:
    1. Please, verify the prerequisites of Operations Console listed by the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn249696.aspx
    2. Install all the SCOM related system updates.
    3. Clear SCOM Console cache:
    http://systemcenter.no/?p=215
    4. Try to clean up Ops Manager cache on SCOM Management server. To do this stop Microsoft Monitoring Agent service, navigate to SCOM installation path (by default, C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Operations Manager\Server) and
delete Health Service State folder. Start Microsoft Monitoring Agent service afterwards.
    5. If nothing helps, maybe try to reinstall SCOM Console.

  • Why is firefox crashing every time I try to compose or reply to email in Gmail and Hotmail?

After I upgraded to Firefox 10, I can open gmail and hotmail, read email, but if I try to compose an email, or reply to an existing one, it crashed. Also, just now when I tried to fill in this box here with firefox, it crashed. I am now using Chrome, and will continue to do so until there is a solution. This crashing thing is more than a little annoying.

    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash
Type '''about:crashes''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
    # Middle-Click the hyperlinks to bring up each Crash Report page in a new Tab; each page may take a few minutes to load.
    # '''Then copy'n'paste the URL of each of those reports into the message box here.'''
    # We'll see if we can help you figure out what is causing those crashes to happen.
If you can't open Firefox or keep it open long enough to get the Crash Report ID's, even in the Firefox Safe Mode - see the section entitled - '''''You can't open Firefox because it crashes at startup even in Safe Mode:'''''.

  • Cannot Forward or Reply to Emails

So why am I getting emails but cannot reply or forward emails? I used to be able to but now I click the button, choose either of those options and nothing happens. Anyone see this?

Always good advice. I would add that I would not use the iPhone as the main repository of ANYTHING. Nothing against the iPhone itself, but it is very small and very losable. The central repository of all your mail, contacts, and calendar should be either your desktop PC or an online service, like Google or MobileMe. The iPhone should just provide access. In the event the iPhone is stolen, lost, or spontaneously combusts, you will be ok. (well, not if it combusts in your pocket, but that is another story.... )

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Cannot type while replying to email

I am unable to type anything while replying/forwarding mails in entourage. Can anyone help !

I should add, this only happens when I type text in a different colour.  How weird is that?

  • I cannot compose or reply to mail in gmail, how do I fix this?

I downloaded the updated browser and I don't know what else to try. I have no problem in other browsers.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • How can I get Thunderbird to maintain the font I selected to compose and reply to email?

If I type exactly right the first time, the font is OK. But, if I make a correction or addition, the font resets to "VARIED" size and something other than Cambria. I prefer the look of Cambria or something where the number "1" and capital "I" look different from the lowercase letter "l". Thanks for any help!

my short answer is press enter 4 or 5 times as soon as you get into the editing area and then use the mouse to move the cursor back to the beginning. Not the best, but certainly the easiest way to gain some control.
