Cannot configure fresh install of 11g XE on OraLinux6 on VM

Question

I've installed Oracle Linux 6.2 on Oracle VirtualBox with OS X as a host.
I has 20GB VDI drive
1500 MB of allocated RAM to Linux
I've installed 11g R2 XE on this
Install ran w/o errors, but it didn't initialize the DB
When I try to configure the DB, I get this error - snapshot below was pasted right from the the log file.
Listener startup succeeds
Database configure fails
When I try to look for the DB instance, no ORCL SID even shows up. I get blank return
Default DB location is /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe
DId I do anything wrong?
The instance will not start in SQLPlus because it cannot find any instance.
Any ideas???

& refuse to follow Installation Guide
The multiple errors prove that you should Read The Fine Manual
uid=500(jiri) gid=500(jiri) groups=500(jiri),0(root),501(dba) Where is above documented in Installation Guide?
