Cannot conncect PC to internet through wrt54g version 5 (I have Comcast cable internet)

I had my Comcast cable internet installed yesterday and tried to connect my Linksys wrt54g V-5 wireless internet with no success. I have tried running through the CD install setup multiple times (even doing the 30 sec power cycle) and at the end of the program Im told "PC cannot connect to internet". I've also tried switching around different cables and still nothing...
Just to be sure I've done the power cycle correct, these are the steps that I took:
1) Unplug internet cable from PC>router>Modem
2) Unplug router battery (after holding reset button for over 30s) then Modem.
3) Reconnect Modem cable to Router internet port
4) Reconnect power to Modem
5) Connect cable in port 1, 2, 3 or 4 (tried them all) to PC
6) Reconnect power to Router (waited for a few min)
7) Turned on PC and tried the Install program again with no success
I believe I have to clone my MAC # for the router from my PC but I cant connect to internet with the cables attached (or wirelessly) to the modem and the router, but I can get on the internet directly from the moden just fine, and the Linksys shows green across the board when everything is connected...
Is there any other way to clone the MAC # with out having the Linksys attached or would that be self defeating??
Any help would be MUCH appriciated (especially b/c the Comcast folks want to charge us AGAIN to come back out and install the wireless when I specifically asked to have it done the first time...)

Do not use CD to configure the router..You can configure the router manually.
Open the set up page of the router by launching an Internet Explorer Browser and type the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field empty and provide password as admin and click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings button.Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".Click on enable..Click Clone & click save settings ...Check WAN Ip on Status page of router .... If getting Valid IP,try going onlineIf not ... power cycle for 4-5 minutes & then again check the WAN Ip address .....

A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Wireless Router WRT54G version 7. Connected computer gets disconnected from internet

I have recently installed a Wireless Router WRT54G version 7 for my home office purpose.
My home PC and my laptop are connected to it. Especially on my laptop, I have observed frequently getting disconnected from the internet. I need to power OFF the router and power it ON to get the internet connection restored

Access set up pageof router .... look for MTU ....change the size from 1500 to 1300 ....click save settings ....
Click on wireless tab ....change the channel to 11 .....click save settings ....
Go to advance wireless settings subtab ....
Beacon interval 75
RTS & Fragmentation threshold 2306...... click save settings ...
Click on status check Ip address & firmware version on the same & let me know ...

I downloaded version 4 and now I cannot connect to the internet with firefox. The lower version worked fine. It keeps saying I'm offline. Any suggestions?

Ah I figured it out.....Mcafey was blocking it. Why on earth did AVG being uninstalled update mcafey settings, to block firefox?

Cannot setup my abs internet to use e-mail through my iphone

I am trying to set up my email account on my i phone. I press mail, then I go to other and try to set up a new account.
Then I put in my email and password.
Then when I get to the imap/pop set up area things dont work as well.

Cannot connect to the internet on WRT54GS

I recently pressed the setup button on my router by mistake and lost connectivity to my wireless network. I upgraded the firmware and ran the Easy Link Connect this evening, the network is back in my listing but I still can't connect to the internet. I also have a Linksys cable modem. I have the cable from the modem plugged to the internet port on the router.
It works fine if I connect my laptop directly to the modem. I have updated the settings at 192.68.1.1 but still nothing.
What am I missing or doing wrong?

Try to manually reconfigure your router without the cd.
This link is for a DSL connection.

WRT54G Version 3.1 Connection Issues - Help Please

We have a WRT54G Version 3.1. Our existing network is wired and functions fine, I am adding the WRT54G for a few wireless clients.
During testing I have connected the wireless to my computer via CAT5 cable to port 1. I have connected another CAT5 cable to the internet port of the router from a known good wall jack.
When I first open the default address 192.168.1.1 and enter the password, all seems well. Due to having servers that hand out IP addresses, I disable the routers DHCP capability.
I enter the following information for example:
Local IP: 81.0.0.90
Gateway: 81.0.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
DHCP disabled
etc.
After changing the the local IP and receiving a confirmation that my changes were saved and I will be going back to the previous page, the page won't display with the address changed to 81.0.0.90 and it is blank.
I release my IP address through cmd, clear my dns cache and reboot the computer. After restart, I am presented with the stock MS address of 169.254.X.X.
I cannot connect to the local IP I established at 81.0.0.90 and nothing appears to work. The only thing I can do is reset the router and start from scratch...again.
Any ideas on what keeps happening and how it can be resolved once and for all?

even if you have two DHCP enabled on both routers in your network, you will not get an IP adress conflict (exception of course if you're cascading two wireless routers).
a LAN port (ethernet router) to WAN port (wireless router) connection can be established allowing you to have both DHCP server enabled on your routers.
by doing the LAN to WAN connection, you will have two networks in a network.. both network won't meet cuz they will have different IP adress... router 1: could be 81.0.0.90, then router 2 could be 81.0.0.91.
if you want your two routers to meet and be in the network together, you just need to follow QUAK's suggestion to assign a static IP adress on your PC. or better yet, you can just connect the router you're disabling the DHCP server with to it's LAN port from a LAN port as well of your DHCP server (router 1). this is a LAN to LAN connection... by doing that, you will be able to open up the interface of your router 2(DHCP disabled) since your PC connected to it will get an IP adress...

NAT issue - WRT54G Version 1.1 with Vista Home Premium

I am trying to figure out the cause of my problems, this router or Vista?
I have 2 PC’s (just want to use my Vista 1) connected to the same router that is connected to a cable modem – the Windows XP machine has no problems bar its age and spec. I have a brand new PC with Vista Home Premium installed on it, now it is this new PC that I am having NAT problems with and port blocking.
I have installed Windows Live Messenger and when setting it up I went into Tools/Options/Connections and I get an error message:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. The Windows Firewall is enabled. (User)"
I have no option to run the trouble shooter (greyed out)…….
If I turn off Windows Vista Firewall I get:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. (User)”
Since this I have installed Media server software and have to reset the port it uses every time as it is always stating that it is blocked.
I have downloaded OpenOffice via a torrent client which also stated that I had NAT problems.
I have no NAT issues at all on my older XP PC and as a result I believe it is safe to rule out my router and modem……..I have only disabled Windows Firewall and this had made no difference, but I have not tried uninstalling it (no idea if that would make a difference)
Oh, I do not have UPnP enabled (router setting) – does this matter (I have tried turning it on but made no difference to this issue so I turned it off again)?

WRT54G Version 7.0 - mother of all problems: Why are the DNS-fields in the status blank?

Ever since the purchase of my WRT54G Version 7.0 WLAN Router two years, I kept getting IP- and DNS-problems, but recently, I cannot access websites anymore at all. As I've already replaced the thing with another router months ago and just now, started to set it up at a friend's place while getting the same problems (with every single computer in the network), I'm sure that the problem lies at the router. All Windows computers report in uni sono that there may be a DNS problem. Firmware is up to date to 7.00.4. Ironically, LinkSys doesn't seem to feature drivers downloads to Version 7.0 anymore, though.
I've got the DHCP-server function activated, left the IP-address to 192.168.1.1 and the DNS-addresses 1, 2 and 3 to the usual 0.0.0.0. I didn't change the default WINS 0.0.0.0, either.
Interestingly, however, when switching to the status tab, the DNS1, DNS2 and DNS3-fields remain completely blank. Therefore, I assume that the router doesn't run any DNS with 0.0.0.0-setup.
Now, how can I make this expensive thing take up the DNS-tasks so that all those computers can access websites again?

Who is your Internet Service Provider ?
What is the IP Address you are getting on the status page of the router ?
What is the IP Address you are getting when connected to the modem directly ?

Try this :
Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

I have a Linksys WRT54G Version 2 that I installed the V.6. firmware on, and now I cannot connect through the router, or even reach the admin panel. Is there a way to reset Version 2 like Version 5?

you can try to reset this router for 1 min. and Then try to upgrade the router firmware with v2 firmware. Go to site: ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network and search for tftp.exe and download tftp.exe and use this tool to upgrade the firmware file to this router. May this help you!
Make sure you upload only v2 files.

WRT54GS Version 5 Firmware Upgrade

I am confused as to how to update the firmware on my WRT54GS Version 5 Linksys router.
I went to the support section on here, but there are five different options of router firmware upgrade. I bought this a year ago and figure it needs the update, can someone help me?
The choices I found on here are:
    Upgrading the Linksys VPN Router's Firmware
     Upgrading the Linksys Wireless-G Access Point's Firmware
     Upgrading the Linksys Wireless-G VPN Router Firmware
     Upgrading the Linksys Router

Which one would I want for this basic network router? The reason I ask is because my wireless Internet is constantly down. It won't work unless I do a hard reset of the router each time. It is annoying that I have to do this all of the time. I have never had this problem in the year I had it until six weeks ago. I have to reset it numerous times to get it to read the Internet and then go into the settings and rename it each time. Also, the router and my PC and my landlords laptop always connect through to the router fine, it is just the Internet causing problems.

ADE cannot connect to the internet

I have been using Digital Editions for some months now without any issues. Suddenly, the software cannot connect to the internet.
Firstly, I have carefully checked my ID and password and these are both correct, and I can log into my account via my browser.
I have been looking through the forums, and it was suggested that I deactivate the software on my PC and deactivate my ereader, and then reactivate both. This didn’t work, as I cannot connect to the Adobe server, and so I cannot reactivate.
I have tried changing the settings on the firewall to allow ADE through, and have also tried switching the firewall off temporarily. Neither of these worked.
I have tried deleting ADE and reinstalling, but this didn’t work.
I have been using ADE version 3, and tried deleting this and installing version 4, but this didn’t work.
I have checked that I can connect to the Adobe server via my browser using the URL http://adeactivate.adobe.com/. This shows a web page headed by the words “Welcome to Digital Editions” and confirms that my PC can connect to the server via my browser, but not from ADE.
However, my browser cannot connect to the URL http://aractivate.adobe.com. This webpage is not available. Perhaps this is the root of the problem?

Two that might help.
1) check your firewall and antivirus. Maybe even try with them (temporarily) turned off.
2) There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0. Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.
