Cannot connect 2 macbooks to the internet through AEBS?

Hi,
I have 2 Macbooks, Airport Extreme Base Station & a 320T D-link router. My ISP is plusnet who uses PPPoA settings on the d-link router. So i have set the router up and when i connect it to the Macbooks directly via ethernet i can access the internet. But once i connect the d-link router to my AEBS i cannot connect to the internet? Both Macbooks can see the base station but they cannot access the basestation. If i put the base station in bridge mode the light will go green and one can connect to the internet but obviously i want both to connect! I am unable to put the d-link router in bridge mode as my ISP does not support this as the router will only work on the PPPoA settings to retrieve the IP's etc from Plusnet. I have spent countless hours on the phone to apple and changing settings but to no success. I have spent more money to buy the d-link router as i had a netgear D111MP router previously but i read that it was a poor product to go with the AEBS. So the issue does not lie with the router?
If anyone can help i would appreciate it so much as this has become so frustrating!
Many thanks!!

Thanks Duanne, problem is that i have bought the netgear DM111P and the d-link 320T and found out that they cannot work for some reason. So i have spent £70 on both modems/routers plus the £119 on the AEBS. It's just a bit annoying when i have spent a lot of time and money on something which i was hoping would be as simple to set up as all the other apple products.
By the way i'm not having a go even though it sounds like it! The main thing on my mind is to get my AEBS working. Would it be possible to advise me on a router that will work well with my AEBS to solve this issue i am having? Also one that can use the PPPoA settings from my ISP? This would be greatly appreciated as i don't want to go out and buy another router and find out it doesn't work.
Also if i get a router that can do this what would be the setup of my AEBS?
Thank you for your time on this!

  • Connect Macbook to the Internet (VPN) through PC

I got a PC with 2 network cards and a Macbook.
On a PC I got VPN connection to my provider.
How can I connect Macbook to the internet through that PC + safely sharing my PC's contents only to my Macbook.

I did all that. My question concerns more the software than the hardware. I already said that I have 2 newtork cards in a PC desktop and one in macbook. I got cables. I plugged everything in.
The problem is that the preparation work is described in so many details but the crucial program work is very unclear in the majority of web sites I googled. I need this part.

  • Cannot connect Wii to the Internet - Error message...

    Hi.
I cannot get the family Wii to connect to the internet.  Instruction for doing so were followed correctly.  An error message - error 51330 comes up on the screen.   Advice on how to resolve this problem would be much appreciated.  All other wireless enabled devices are connecting okay.
    Thanks - Guard

Hi try this it may help
Usually the error code means that:
A: You chose the wrong Wi-Fi security (i.e. your Wi-Fi security is WPA but you chose WEP)
B: You entered the wrong password
C: Your Wii's MAC address is not allowed (If your Wi-Fi network uses MAC adresses to let certain PCs use the network)
D: Your wireless router brodcasts a "channel" your Wii isn't compatible with
E: Your wireless router isn't broadcasting in b/g mode.

  • I cannot connect ATV to the internet. My wifi is picked up and has 4 bars. What should I do?, I cannot connect ATV to the internet. My wifi is picked up and has 4 bars. What should I do?

I am trying to setup the ATV. My wifi has been picked up and I have a good signal but it won't connect to the internet. The restarted ATV several times and rebooted the modem too. Getting to the end of my rope here!

Signal test on the device isn't necessarily accurate. To get a proper report of the network go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC). Try Ethernet to rule out wifi issues. Male sure router is up to date

  • Connecting laptop to the internet through the iphone

Do they have an app out for this?

It's called tethering and it is a feature of the iphone. You do not need an app. Your carrier has to support it.

  • I cannot connect Firefox to the Internet. I keep getting an error message reading:" profile unavailable or inaccessible.

I've downloaded a new version of Firefox and it has not responded at all. I keep getting a profile inaccessible or unavailable message. I've gone to Mozilla support to apply their fix to this specified problem, but have not had any positive results.
I think the new version may be incompatible with my computer. I have a Windows Vista system and my IE browser works fine. Can you help??

    Hi!
It sounds like you're having trouble with Firefox for Desktop. I'd recommend contacting the Firefox for Desktop support forum here: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop]; they'll be more knowledgeable and better able to answer your questions than the volunteers here at the Firefox OS forum.
    I hope that helps you!

  • Macbook Pro can connect to Belkin N1 wireless, and says ISP and everything is fine, but I cannot seem to access the internet?

Hey everyone, I've been experiencing this problem for a very long time, my Macbook Pro has a lot of trouble connecting to my Belkin N1 wireless, however, when I sit far away from the router I seem to be able to connect and use the internet, though I have a lot of 'System Timeout' and have to reboot my wireless. After we moved houses, my room is extremely near the wireless, and before the Belkin was formatted with a password, I was able to use the internet without a problem. However, now I can connect to the wireless, and Network Diagnostics tells me that everything is good to go, however, I just can't seem to use the internet. No pages will load, I've tried everything changing proxies, looking through my security certificates and tried using IP addresses instea of website names and nothing seems to work.
I've gone to the store and have always been dismissed, with the excuse that Belkin is just not compatible my Macbook. I'm not technologically savvy, but I can follow instructions.
    Thank you in advance!

Hello blinchikis. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Which Belkin model do you have? Are you running wireless encyption, WEP or WPA? If so, if you temporarily disable encryption, can you connect your iBook to the Internet now? How about if you connect your iBook, directly using an Ethernet cable?

Hello, my sister her macbook pro cannot connect to our wireless internet. My imac however can, so the problem has to do with her laptop. We were wondering how we could solve this problem? Thank you very much in advance!

We did that, but it just doesn't seem to be able to connect. So basically we tried to connect to our network and insert the password, but afterwards it does nothing. Weird thing is also that the network symbol (top right of the screen) says that it has been connected, but when I go look at the system preferences --> network, it states that it has not been connected

  • How do I connect my MacBook pro to the Internet through the 3G server on my iPhone?

Does anyone know how to connect my MacBook pro to the Internet through the 3G server on my iPhone?

There is a service called Personal Hotspot that uses your iPhone's connection to share with other devices. You will need to sign up for this service through your carrier. Good luck

    If not this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
    Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

    Then:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I recently updated my iPod touch to sync through iCloud - now can't connect to the internet through wifi, my macbook air is working as we speak. ive tried 'forgetting this network" in settings; tried turning off and on again; and pulling my hair out! The last was equally useless and a little painful!

    Try:
    - Resetting the iPOd. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • My macbook pro doesn't connect to iCloud. It only connects to the internet through Google.

How do I reconnect through the internet through Safari and Mail? It just stopped working today.

    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
    Notes:
    1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the  Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
    2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

I have a Netgear WNR2000 router and an Edimax EW-7438RPn wifi range extender.  I have gotten the range extender to work well with my MacBook Air, however, while my iPhone 3Gs and iPad mini can pick up the wireless signal from the range extender, they cannot get to the Internet through it.  No IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, or DNS appear in the details on either the iPhone or the iPad mini.   How do I get the iPhone and the iPad to connect to the Internet.   It seems that the problem is with the iPhone and iPad, since the MacBook Air works just fine with this set up.

    Junglemania,
Go into the setup page of the EW-7438RPn.  Go to Wireless Advanced Settings.  There is a WMM settings.  Make sure the WMM is enabled.
    This may help you out.
