  • WRT160NL cannot connect to USB

    hello,
I just purchased a new 160NL router and installed on my home network.  Everything works fine.  I plugged in my fat32 USB drive.  the router sees the drive I shared the proper folder.  I cannot access the drive from my PC.  I get a windows cannot access error.  Tried accessing by IP address, tried by name.  nothing shows up in network neighborhood. What am I doing wrong ?
    thanks for the help

When you connect the USB Drive to your Router, Does your Router recognize your USB Drive? When you login to the Router setup page and click on the Storage tab and it should list you the USB Drive Name and the Size?
If its listed, then you need to click on "Create Share"  button under the Storage tab a new Window will Pop up on the screen then you need to click on "Return to Upper Folder"it should display you (FAT2) select Fat2 and assign a Unique name and Add the "admin"under "Group with Access" and then click on Save Settings...
Now on your Computer click on Start - RUN - type "\\192.168.1.1" and click Ok... when it prompts you for the Username and Password type "admin" and click Ok. These should display you the USB Drive, so you need to Right click ok it and select "Map Network Drive" and below check the Box "Re-Connect at Logon"and below click on Finish.
These will map the network drive on your Computer and now you should be able to transfer your Data from your Computer to the USB Drive.

I was trying to connect from my MBA to mu Iphone 5, but the device is not recognize in the MBA, even that through iTunes, I can syncronize the data.
I'm also unable to create a network connection call USB device in Network Preferences.
    Can anybody help?

Its really unbelievable what happened with USB ports. In my opinion you should contact Toshiba service and let them check ports functionality.
    > I can't burn a third port on a third portege...
And if something like this happen Toshiba should repair it. It is not your fault.
I dont have iPhone but new iPad2 and I dont have any problem to connect it to my Satellite notebook.

  • Cannot connect to USB shared disk

The other day got my new Airport Extreme-n and up unitl now it has worked solidly. The most annoying problem is accessing shared USB disks. I have attached a USB disk to the ABE and it is recognized. Then, enabled disk sharing with a simple disk password for testing purposes. The is as far as the documentation goes however.
I am guessing the Airport Disk Utility is supposed to mount these shared USB disks. The only thing I am seeing is "NO Disk Found"
The disk has been formatted in both HFS and FAT32 and still the same results, nothing. I even accessing the shared disk through a windows share and sometimes I can but it will not let me add or retrieve files.
Ant help would be great. Thank you.

Unfortunately this has become a known issue in the meantime and Apple is supposed to be working on it. Usually this happens when the APExtreme gets disconnected from your computer (e.g. power loss or taking your mobile mac to another location). The following is not really a solution but better then nothing:
    1) Connect your USB HD directly to your computer and wait for recognition and mounting
    2) Disconnect properly
    3) reconnect the USB HD to your APE
    4) it should be recognised
    5) hope for a soon software-update

  • Cannot connect to USB

Please help, this is driving me round the bend.
I have tried every USB port there is on my PC. I know that it is ok 2.0 +.
Each time I try to connect it keeps coming up with the following message.
Also I have installed the upto date itunes etc.
the Message reads: There was a problem installing this hardware. ipod.
An error occured during the installation of the device.
    the data is invalid.
Anyone know what this means and how to connect. Also I don;t think the shuffle is charging. Had it plugged in at work and it is slow flashing orange.
Would be grateful for any help.
    Thanks

I don't know why (or if) this would work, but I would try resetting the AEBSn to factory settings, and use the Mac mini to perform all the setup actions wirelessly with the Airport utility. Before you do, clear the Keychain utility in the Mini of any references to your network and HD.
I'm a big fan of starting fresh.

  • Cannot connect to USB disk connected to Airport

I have a USB disk connected to the USB port on my Airport Extreme.  The disk has a volume label already set and had been previously directly connected to my IMac
I've gone into the Airport utility and updated the 'Disks' information to include "Enable file sharing" and "Secure Shared Disks" "With Accounts".  I have the users listed under acounts and have set the passwords, same as login passwords.
But, I can't successfully login to the disk.  I've tried the base station password, the network access pasword, the user password: none work.
    What am I missing here?

Does the disk appear as a volume when you check using the Disk tab in AirPort Utillity?  In the example below, a WD Drive is connected to the USB port of an AirPort Extreme.
If the drive does not appear here first, you will not be able to access it. Check to make sure that the drive is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled). FAT32 will also work as well.
Some other formats like NTFS or exFAT might be able to be read when the drive is connected directly to a Mac.....but these formats are not supported with the USB port on the AirPort Extreme.
If the drive is formatted correctly, try using a powered USB hub. Connect the powered hub to the USB port on the Extreme, then connect the drive to the powered hub.

  • I cannot connect external USB HDD to my new TP-Link Router

    Hi,
I recently purchased a new TP-Link Modem Router with a USB port on the back.
I have been using a WD My Passport external HDD for Time Machine backups and photos for some time. I ususally connect it directly to my Macbook each time i want to backup.
With the new router, I was hoping to connect the HDD to the USB port and be able to connect over my wireless network, but have not been able to.
The router recognises that a HDD is connected to it, but the Macbook will not allow me to find it or connect to it.
    Any ideas or help?
    Thanks

What kind of drives, and how are they connected? Do they have external power supplies or just use the usb bus power? Do they work in a different mac?

  • IPod Cannot Connect Via USB 2.0, only 1.x Jack

My wife has a Nano, 2nd generation that works great, so we bought our oldest daughter the 3rd generation last week, and it is nothing but trouble. If I dare to plug it into the PC on a USB 2.0 plug it shuts down the computer, immediately. BAM! Reboot and to the Nano. Happens with 2 separate HDs, both XP Pro, one iTunes 7.9 and the other 8.0. I don't think the iTunes matters because as soon as the jack is plugged in the machine shuts down. I can connect on a USB 1.x outlet, but if I go this route half of the music I have on an external HD will not copy onto the Nano, error says it can't read or write to the disk. Not all, and none of the purchased music has this problem. I transferred all of my CDs exactly the same, so there isn't any difference in the files. Now, the kicker, if I convert them to AAC they will write to the iPod. ???
I have not seen any other people here try and connect on the old USB ports, as my PC has a few left, so if anyone else can try and see if their's acts the same. We got the nano at Costco, so we have 90 days to return it, and it looks like we will.

OK, after wasting a day trying to figure this mess out I bought another USB 2.0 PCI card and stuck the Nano all by itself, and guess what, the PC doesn't need to reboot and synchs up. Apparently there was a conflict on the other row of 2.0 outlets, and now all is good in the Apple and Windows world. So if this can help anyone else I am posting how I resolved the issue, the iPod needs a non shared USB port, it's that special...

Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

I have an EliteDisplay S231d. I cannot connect via USB to my laptop. I can see the display in connected devices, but cannot switch to it and use the built in hub.
I have downloaded the latest drivers and software for your site.
I have Windows 8.1pro and am connecting via the out port of the screen using the included USB cable to a USB3.0 port.
The serial number of my screen is 6CM4380VDW.

The mini usb plug goes into the centre port at the bottom on the PlayBook. The RIM symbol must be up if you will damage the connection if inserted the wrong way. I put a white dot onto the correct side of the plug to make sure I get it right.
You may have a firewall setting on your computer that keeps you from connecting to the PlayBook .

  • Nokia Lumia 920 cannot connect to PC "USB not reco...

    Hi,
Sorry for sending you a private message but i dont know who else to recur to.
I've a Lumia 920 that is not on warranty any more. (Bought on internet).
I'm from Portugal and the phone came directly from Switzerland.
I cannot connect to my PC. I've tried everything from usb cable, diferrent PC's, different Windows Softwares, even Android Tablet and nothing.
Then I went to my town Nokia Care Store and they tried it did not work also with them. They ended saying to me that they could not solve my problem.
Then I tried with a friend that have an Lumia 920 connecting my L920 to his computer and one more time it did not work.
Finally I talk to private mobile technician that had a new usb internal cable and changed it for me. Also did not work.
I really dont know if the problem is L920 motherboard or any software problem that just dont let me connect to the PC.
I always get the message "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED".
My only issue is this one because all the rest works perfectly. Even USB charging.
    Please help.
    Thank you in advance.
    Jose Anica

    Hi,
A Nokia phone which was intended for sale in any country of the European Union plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or Turkey would be covered for two years by the European Limited Warranty which is valid in all of those countries. When you visited Nokia Care, did they check your IMEI against our systems to verify the warranty status of your phone?

  • I cannot connect my external hard drives (1 WD My Passport and 1 LaCie Porsche Design). The drives were connected and worked perfect, the WD is used as a Time Capsule, the LaCie is formatted as exFAT and used for miscellaneous. They are both USB 3.0

I cannot connect my external hard drives any longer. I have one WD "My Passport" used as a Time Capsule and one LaCie Porsche Design used for all different kind of data, formatted in exFAT. They worked fine, connected direct or through an additional USB hub or also attached to a Dell monitor. The Lacie helds my iTunes Library and the iPhoto library.
After I moved the iTunes library to the external drive, from time to time the drive went into a never ending loop and I had to shut down the laptop (MacBook Air).
The last time starting again the drives were not recognized any longer. I tried to connect them to another MacBook, which didn't work.
Starting with Windows 7, the WD is also not recognized at all (perhaps because of time capsule format?) and the LaCie gives an error.
Could anybody tell me if there is a chance to get them alive again? When I connect them now, they start to heat up quite fast without anything else happening.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Just want to clarify, have you checked to make sure the cords are not damaged  (going from hard drive to computer and or any power source )?
You have also check to make sure that usb ports are working correctly?
If you have checked these things it may be that the external drives have failed.
I would google the error message from the LaCie drive before I do anything.
There are several ways that I know of,  one is to put the hard drive in the freezer for a while (make sure you wrap it air tight) if this works it is not a permenint fix. You might be able to transfer information to another source.
The other method is to plug the hard drive into a hard drive connector a product like this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817707192
to do this you would have to remove the hard drive from its enclosure and still this is not a guarantee it will work.
The finally way I know is using a recovery service. This can be rather expensive, and  there are no guarantees
