Cannot connect HP to Airport Express

I have hooked up my airport express and it connects fine with my Mac. I have been trying to connect to the wireless internet connection also with my HP and having no success. It finds the network, connects to it, but not to the internet. Any help would be appreciated!

Some HP models will not connect to an 802.11n b/g compatible network and instead want to connect to an 802.11 b/g network.
Try changing the Radio Mode on your AirPort Express to 802.11 b/g
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the icons to access the wireless setup page
Click Radio Mode and select 802.11 b/g
Click Update to save your changes
Restart the HP and see if it might connect this way. If it does, you won't be able to use the faster "n" speeds on your network, but you will be able to use the printer or all-in-one.
If this does not work, then reset your wireless back to 802.11n b/g compatible so your Mac will connect at faster speeds.
This might be the time to call HP or take a look at their support site for some other connection possibilities

  • Cannot connect Ubuntu to AirPort Express WAP

    Hello,
I just installed Linux for the first time. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex. I have not been able to connect to our wireless network, which uses an Apple AirPort Express as its WAP. I have looked through the forums here, and done some searches via google, butI haven't been able to find any posts that address my problem. Apologies if I missed such an entry here.
I am connected from two other machines on our network - one a Windows XP box, one running OS X. I have been able to connect from the ubuntu box to other wireless networks in range (was able to browse to cnn.com), but they are extremely slow, and i don't want to use my neighbor's connections permanently.
The linux box seems to see our network, but when i try connecting to it, i just eventually get a pop-up message that says 'The network connection has been disconnected'.
I ran lshw. Here is the info for the Wireless NIC:

I also ran iwconfig (no args). Here is the output:

Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

After some more troubleshooting, i found the problem to be with the Airport Express. I replaced it with a linksys router, and all is working fine now.

  • I have an iPhone 5 and I cannot connect to my airport express at home.

I've tried resetting the airport and everything. My first iPhone 5 would connect but I've since replaced it and the new one won't connect. Not sure what the issue is. Please help!

  • TS2706 I cannot connect to my airport (time capsule) from a Windows PC

Any information on how to connect to an aiport extreme (really the time capsule) from a Windows platform. Have no problem from our Mac's but cannot connect from a windows based platform.  I haven't been able to find any recent posts to help with this problem.

First off, Archon23, what you want to achieve is possible.  I have access to both my Time Capsule (TC) and the USB drive connected to it, from a Win. 7 and Win. XP machine.
Here is what I see from the Windows side of things:
From My Computer - TC USB Drive (Y)
From Windows HomeNet - Time Capsule:
Now getting there is the trick.
One caveat before proceeding:  I am not well versed in Windows Networks, Windows Sharing and Firewall settings so some of the following may not be elegant, may not be absolutely required, and may not be the best way of getting there.  But it is what I did to see both the TC drive and it's attached USB  drive on the Windows side of my network..
1.) First, I added Airport Utility to the Inbound rules of Win 7 Firewall
While poking around my Network Sharing and Firewall settings trying to figure this out, I got a Pop-up recommending I do that.  AND I did that. Oh, and while you are at it, make sure you have a Home network established.
2.) Next, on a hunch, I installed a USB Wi-Fi Adapter (under $20) to my Win PC, enabled that Wi-Fi connection and disabled my Ethernet connection.  I was getting no where on this matter with my Ethernet connection to a DSL Gateway.  But with a Wi-Fi connection to my AirPort Express Base Station, I made progress.
3.) Finally, while poking around my Network Sharing Center some more, one by one I started the various network device Setup Wizards in there, and Trouble Shooters, to find the elusive TC/USB devices in question...AND voila, it worked.   And it's stable, been this way for going on two weeks now.
    Good luck.

  • Can't connect to Apple Airport Express wi-fi

    Hi folks,
2nd gen iPT, OS is up to date. At my home, it connects to my Airport Express wi-fi network just fine. But at my parents home, it does not. It sees the network, asks for the password, I type it in, and it rejects it saying it cannot connect to the network. I set the network up myself, I know the password, I just can't figure out what the connection problem is. Any ideas? Any typical things that are overlooked? Any glitches that I haven't anticipated (like using one versus another security protocol on my parents' network)?
    Thanks,
    -- Josh

Is it the same Airport Express that you're physically taking to your parents home and plugging it into their network, or do they have their own Airport Express which you're trying to connect to?
If it's a different Airport Express, I'd compare all the settings in the Airport Utility at your home with all the settings at your parents.
If it's the same Airport Express, maybe you've got some settings in there which are specific to your home network i.e. different IP addresses. Try setting it up for DHCP.
Can other wi-fi devices connect to it, or is it only the iPod touch that's having problems?
Incidentally, I take my Airport Express where-ever I go and frequently connect it to different networks without having to reconfigure it, so if this is what you're trying to do, its certainly possible.

  • Can not connect to old airport express

I can not connect to old airport express with new mountian lion and airport utility?

You will need to install AirPort Utility 5.6 on Mountain Lion.  This article will tell you how:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1167965/mountain_lion_and_the_ancient_airport_ba se_station.html
This works for most users, but we cannot guarantee that it will work for you. Up to you to decide if you want to try this unsupported method.

  • My macbook on startup now refuses to connect to my airport express

My macbook refuses to connect to my airport express, but instead auto connects to someone else's, my network preferences seem correct, even after I correct this, and get the mac to connect to my Airport express manualy, if I put my macbook lid down, when I reopen it it is back to the other wireless connection. There is no pasword on the rogue connection. This is driving me mad and have had to turn my macs wireless off, as when I reverted to Ethernet it was still registering as being connect via wireless,  i e rogue site and it froze again and again.
Could I have a problem with security here or is it a case of some gulible person failing to password protect? Whatever can someone please advize as we have a number of commuters in the house which cannot now get on line.

Please try each of the steps that follow, in order, until resolved:
    STEP 1
    Create a New User Account
    System Preferences > Accounts
Click "+" to add a new account
Log off, and then, log back on with the new user account.
Try connecting to a Wi-Fi network with your Mac's AirPort.
    STEP 2
    Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > Select AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Under Preferred Network, use the minus button to delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
Delete AirPort Keychain Entries (Note: only applies if you connect to AirPort/Time Capsule routers)
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in /Applications/Utilities
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
Restart, or log out then back in.
    Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > Select AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Under Preferred Network, click on the plus button to add any preferred network(s).
Restart or log out then back in.
    STEP 3
Disable the Mac OS X Firewall
System Preferences > Security > Firewall
    Click the "Stop" button.
    STEP 4
    Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences
Move (not copy) the SystemConfiguration folder to the OS X desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to its original location.)

  • Hello, I'm trying to connect my new TiVo XL4 box to my home network via an ethernet cable connection to my Airport Express but the TiVo box is not seeing the network. I have a green light emanating from the Airport Express so it is connected. Plz advise.

Hello, I'm trying to connect my new TiVo XL4 box to my home network via an ethernet cable connection to my Airport Express but the TiVo box is not seeing the network. I have a green light emanating from the Airport Express so it is connected. Please advise.

If you have not already done so, I suggest that you temporarily disconnect the Ethernet cable from the AirPort Express that goes to the Tivo box.
Instead, turn off the wireless on a laptop and connect the laptop to the Ethernet port on the Express. See if you can get an Internet connection on the laptop.
If you still cannot get an Internet connection on the laptop, try another Ethernet cable that you know is working correctly.
    Post back on your results.

  • How to connect a 2nd airport express in a home network?

I'm triying to connect a second airport express in my home network but when I plug in and go to Airpot Utility says :
"This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information."
I don't know what to do to get connect the second airport exprees?, Do I miss something ?

You need AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure that model Express. The problem with that version is that Mountain Lion will refuse to let you install it.
This dilemma is easily solved. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist or unpkg. Pacifist is shareware, unpkg is free.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Download unpkg here: http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
When the AirPort Utility .dmg file finishes downloading, open it to expand and reveal the AirPortUtility56.pkg package installer file.
Directions for Pacifist (I do not have screenshots for unpkg but the idea is similar):
Open Pacifist and from its File menu, navigate to the package and open it.
Click the "reveal triangles" until you see AirPort Utility 5.6.app:
Select it and then click Install from Pacifist's toolbar. It will then be installed in your Utilities folder, and you can quit Pacifist.
Mountain Lion will not allow you to delete its existing version of AirPort Utility. Just ignore it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist.
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder instead of resorting to the above procedure. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
If you have an older computer with a version of AirPort Utility earlier than 6.0, you can administer it that way as well.

  • Can I share my internet with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely connect speakers?

Can I share my internet from my Imac with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely to connect speakers?
The big problem that I'm having is that when internet sharing via the airport I can not simultaneously connect with my airport express.  It would be great to be able to share internet from my Imac so I can be using my Ipad and at the sametime have my wife use the airport express to stream music in a different room. It would be awesome to be able to have the ability to do both. Does anybody know how?

  • HP Laserjet printer connected to my Airport Express?

I have bought a HP Laserjet printer and I want to connect it to my Airport express, so I can print wireless. I have my Airport express installed and connected to my router via Ethernet cabel and I the printer is connected to the Airport station by a USB cable. But my Macbook Pro can't find the printer when I search for it? What might the problem be?
    Hope someone can help!

The problem may be that the AirPort Express does not support your printer model.  Not all printers are supported, and Apple tends to favor popular, lower priced All-in-One devices for USB support.
On your Mac....open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Print & Scan
Click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list
Hopefully, your printer model will appear. If it does, click on the name of the printer to highlight it, then click Add to install the printer at the location of the AirPort Express
Try to print. Be sure to select the correct location of your printer, as it may appear as a printer connected to your MacBook Pro and as a printer connected to the AirPort Express. You must choose the correct location to be able to print.
If your printer model does not appear when you click the + button in the steps above, about all that you can do is contact HP Support to see if they have an updated printer driver that you could download and install....that might allow the print function at the AirPort Express.

  • Is it possible to plug in an external HDD to the USB connection on my Airport Express for backups?

Is it possible to plug in an external HDD to the USB connection on my Airport Express for backups? As a kind of cheapo Time Capsule?

Unfortunately no, because the USB port on the AirPort Express will only work with a printer and a Keyapan remote control. Hard drives are not supported.
You would need an AirPort Extreme for that type of functionality.
