Cannot connect iPod at all to my computer

I have tried everything from the help topics to do so. My iPod is now not playing properly. I don't know what to do and am waiting to find out about my warranty. Any suggestions or do you think my iPod is hosed? This is the second one I have that is going bad, and I'm losing faith in iPods

Hello Emmalee2003,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning recognition issues:

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Cannot connect to itunes store from home computer

can anyone help???  all my apps have now come off the phone...I cannot authorize my computer at home....I am so frustrated.....

After months of trying, I found the answer for me here with wiclee to dunetraker april 2012. I wasnt sure how to connect to his answer so I copied it. Here it is:

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt",
Well, it didn't all copy but if you search you will find it. It explains how to use command prompt to enter "netsh winsock reset".  I tried so many different things and this is the only thing that worked. Thanks to wiclee.

  • Connecting iPod and iPhone on same computer

    Hi all !
I have an iPhone which I sync with iTunes on my notebook.
My son has an iPod Touch, and he sync it on his own computer.
I want to upgrade his iPod to OS 3.1 but I'm not nuts, I didn't put my payment informations in his iTune.
How can I buy the update with my Apple ID (on my notebook), and give him for installation on his computer ?
I know, I can't compare, but in the past I had big troubles connecting 2 blackberries on the same computer at work. All the data were mixed on both devices, so I prefer not to connect a 2nd device on my notebook.
    Thank you for help

    The answer was simple :
I connected to my son's iTune with my AppleID and bought the update...
For information : Apple told me not to update but "restore and update" to reorganize the iPod

  • Connecting iPod to more than one computer

Is it possible to connect a iPod Nano to more than one computer? I downloaded itunes on my home computer and set my ipod up just fine. Then i wanted to connect it to my office computer because i have a bunch of music on it that i would like to put on my ipod. Every time i try to connect to my office computer I get an error message "iTunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes.
Any ideas or information would be appreciated.

*Is it possible to connect a iPod Nano to more than one computer?*
Yes it is. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. In this mode you can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on your desktop or check this link: Safely Disconnect IPod
*Every time i try to connect to my office computer I get an error message "iTunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes*.
Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section and try changing the drive letter allocated to the iPod in Windows:
iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

When i connect my ipod through the usb port, nothing comes up on itunes or my computer to say it is connected and i can begin synching my music. Any help?

    Hey there,
Have you attempted Apple's 5 Rs? If not, go through each one of the those and see if that helps. If not, try putting your iPod into Disk Mode. More information on the 5 Rs and putting your iPod into Disk Mode can be found with the links below. Hope this helps.

  • Connecting ipod to itunes on new computer

My old computer died on me and I cannot access the information on the hard drive. I've downloaded itunes onto my new computer and thought that I could transfer all the songs from my ipod to my new computer. When I connected the ipod it said that the ipod was connected to another library (on my old computer) and do I want to replace all the songs with the ones in this library (i.e. no songs). I obviously don't want to erase all my songs so I say no, at which point all the songs become inaccessable.
I've had my ipod for over a year and have lost the cd that came with it.
Could anyone tell me how I link my ipod to my new library and get all the songs onto my new computer?

Tom, use either of the options in this post to copy your music from the iPod to the PC. In my opinion, iPod Agent is the easiest way to do this. There is a trial version available, I believe. Note that you'll also need Microsoft .Net framework installed on your computer, but it's free from Windows Update if you don't have it.

I cannot seem to complete step 5 from the link given when an ipod has been locked out for 22, 000, 000 minutes.  Itunes will not automatically recognize my device.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Connected Ipod lost all playlists, songs in itunes and on ipod

I connected my video ipod to my computer, not for the first time, and all my songs and playlists were erased from my ipod and, in my itunes library, I lost all my playlists, recently purchased songs, and recently played folder. Why? How can I retrieve my playlists? How can I prevent this from happening again? Jeannine

    Weird.
While there's plenty of things that could change the playback speed in iTunes, I don't know of anything that could change the speed of playback on the iPod itself.
Maybe you've had a stroke. Might want to see a doctor about that.

  • Cannot sync ipod to itunes on new computer because it doesnt recognize apps

    any help??

    - An iPod can only sync to one computer.  Yu can swithced computers.
    - You need to get all the stuff on the new computer first.  This includes app and Music.
    - After the stuff is the new computer.  Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. Then sync as necessary

  • Cannot connect ipod shuffle 2nd gen to Vista

Hi, can't seem to find an answer to this situation on this forum, plugging in ipod causes Vista to start searching for drivers that it does not find, iTunes 7.4 popped one window suggesting the device be reset, but window disappeared never to return.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

Hi, I have new PC with Windows Vista, my ipod classic works OK on this PC, iTunes locates it and can transfer music successfully, however I also have 2 ipod Shuffle's which Vista recognises and asks me to install drivers from the CD that came with the ipods, but the shuffle does not have any drivers. iTunes does not detect these shuffle's either, so I cannot use them via this PC, however they do work on another Windows XP PC I have, so there is nothing wrong with the Shuffle's.
I have the latest iTunes installed - version 7.4.3.1, but it still does not detect these Shuffle's.
It is Windows Vista that appears to be the problem, but only with this one version of the iPod.
Any help would be really useful as I have all my tunes on my Vista PC and did not want to have to make copies on my old windows XP PC.
    Thanks, Fred
