  • Cannot connect IBM Thinkpad to Linksys Router Wirelessly

I recently moved in with a friend, and my IBM Thinkpad T42, with Windows XP, cannot connect to her Linksys WRT120N router wirelessly. I am able to connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable, and I am able to connect to other public wireless networks.
I have been told by Cisco helpdesk people that it is because Windows XP does not support WPA2 security, and/or that because they don't know much about IBM computers, I should get rid of the third party internet connection software, IBM Access Connections, that came with my computer.
I have been having this problem for a week, and I did not even know I had IBM Access Connections until today, so I don't think that's the problem. Also, my friend has been using that application successfully on her computer, Thinkpad T61, Windows XP, to connect to this router, which she has been using for 2 years. So with two almost identical computers, does anybody know why my wireless connection isn't working?

Answer these questions, I may be able to give you the right solution to your issue:
    1. Go to your Network Connections folder on your wired computer and check which one is connected:
    a. Local Area Connection
    b. Broadband Connection
    c. 1394 Connection
    2. What is the IP address of your computer?
    3. Who is your internet service provider?
    4. What is the error message when you connect the wireless computer to the network?

I cannot connect a Sony ILCE6000 camera for wireless downloading. Sony feels I need DLNE? They do not know how to make it work. Can anyone help OS10·9·5

I cannot use the software.. so you need to figure out where the problem is..
But let me suggest.. the Mac is not the issue and likely the info from Sony is also up the creek.. they make PC's after all.
It is far more likely the camera is having issues with the wireless network.
Do you know you have a connection to the home network on the camera.. ?? You have an IP address and some internet or local access at least?
How you will discover those things is by fiddling.. but if you can tell me what wireless AP you are using that will help.

  • Cannot connect to Internet via newly created wireless network

Just purchased an Aiport Express router this week. Connected it to an RCA DCM425 Time Warner Cable modem and it worked fine out of the box. Now, after running the Airport Utility to create a new password-protected network, I cannot connect to the Internet. Both my PowerBook G4 (running Mac OS X 10.4.10) and Windows PC (XP SP2) can connect to the new network but then cannot access the Internet. After being frustrated for a few hours with this I performed a hard reset and then could connect to the default apple network the AX was transmitting. But now I tried creating a new network again and again the same problem. No internet access despite Network Status indicating otherwise. Please help! I purchased this product b/c I thought it was supposed to be an easier setup.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Sorry, but the 169.x.x.x IP address is internally generated by the iPod (and iPhone) and indicates that a network has been detected but no IP address has been issued. Your friends iPhone was not connected to your ad hoc network either - it connected to the internet through the 3G network.
You should read through the Vista help screens on ad hoc networking for some insight how this works. You should be able to get some ideas there.
In the mean time, $40 or less will buy you a very capable wireless router with four Ethernet ports and will simplify your network tremendously. Having used Windows ICS for a long time, the addition of a router and a real network simplified things so much.

  • Envy 110 wont print wirelessly

I moved to a new home and now my Envy wont print wirelessly. I can print via eprint.
I use both an XP laptop and an iPad 1. My ipad and my iphone cannot see the Envy as an Air Printer on my network.
I do also have a Belkin router on my network. I did not have this in my old home. I am suspecting that the router is the problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Yeah, Belkin routers can cause problems.
Let's set a static IP address and external DNS for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Cannot connect to other computers on my wireless network

Since I upgraded to Mac OS X v10.7 Lion I cannot connect to my iMac or MacBook as a Registered User.  I keep getting "Connection Failed" when I try to connect.

If you are getting the error message that the server won't allow any more users to connect, and to try again later, this seems to be a problem with AFP sharing in Lion.
The workaround for this so far is to go to System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing and click on Options...  On that window, turn OFF "Share files and folders using AFP" and turn ON "Share files and folders using SMB (Windows)" Click Done to go back to the sharing window and you should see a green dot followed by "Windows Sharing: On"
    Give that a try.

  • Server error, cannot connect to port 110

    Hello Support,
I'm trying to set up a mail account but can't connect to port 110. The mail account works on my old powerbook. I've tried changing the settings to 111, 125 etc. No luck.
    What am I doing wrong???
    Please help...

I'd call your ISP and go through your settings with them. It's likely that something in your setup is incorrect, or they changed their server to require new settings recently.

  • Mac OS 10.6 cannot connect to my AT&T Sierra Wireless...help!!

I just purchased my macbook pro OS 10.6 snow leopard today. My entire life ive used windows. all i would like to do is connect to the internet. I have the sierra wireless usbconnect 811 thru AT&T, i spent 3 hours at Apple with 3 different Genius bar guys and all they concluded was it is incompatible but if i do enough research online i could find a way....well ive spent 2 hours online and no luck. people talked about finding some telephone icon under networks but i cannot find that either. i feel helpless~

    Hi,
Go to the Sierra website and look for their supporrt area. I did see Mac OS compatibiity, but it doesn't mention Snow Leopard. Most likely they haven't updated their software/hardware for 10.6
The only mention of Mac OS here is 10.4. That was Tiger, two operating systems back from Snow Leopard.

  • Cannot connect HO C310a to LinksysWRT 54 g router wirelessly

I cannot connect a new HP C310a printer wirelessly to my linksys wrt 54 g router. I enter the SSID and the passphrase and it tries to connect then says it cannot. When I run the diagnostics it tells me MAC filtering may be enabled on the router. The router settings show MAC filtering is disabled. I have had no success with HP support despite loading and unloading printer SW. The printer SW is on a Windows 7 lap top. I have several other devices running wirelessly with no connection issues whatsoever so I am assuming that the printer must be defective. HP suggests a new router but if all my other devices can connect I am hesitant to take this advice. I just connected an iPhone wireless with no problems.  Anyone have any ideas about how to get this thing to connect?  Thanks

Sure, here are a few ideas:
    1. Make sure that you are broadcasting your network name (SSID).  If you are it would show up in a list of available networks in your area.
    2. Do not use WEP, it is not at all secure and can cause connection problems if WEP is not configured correctly.  Switch to WPA with a strong (13+ character) passphrase that you create yourself.
    3. Switch your router to run on channel 11.

  • I'm trying to download an app on the "new i pad" from the app store, but I get a message saying "cannot connect to the i tunes store.  My wireless network is up and running.  What gives?

I'm trying to download an app from app store but get a message saying cannot connect to i tunes store--my wireless network  is working.  What gives?

This issue is cropping up everywhere on the iPad site, leading me to believe that it is an iTunes server glitch. I am able to connect without issue in the northeast U.S.
    You can try this ....
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Sign in and try again.

  • HP ENVY 4500 Printer "Error. Cannot connect to Server"

    Hey everybody,
    I work in IT and have a client that recently purchased a HP Envy 4500 all-in-one. She called me to install it for her and I got it set up with no problems. After a few days she told me that her printer wouldn't scan. It was giving her this error message;
"Error. Cannot connect to Server. Check Server name and address."
She has this computer connected via USB and I have already reinstalled the driver and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor with no success. I have tried a lot of other solutions that people have been posting with the same issue but none have worked. This has become a huge issue and I don't see HP trying to find a solution. If no soultion will fix this, then I will be returning this printer for her and getting something that works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    bbritt91

    Hi bbritt91,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are getting a connection error message when trying to use the scan to email feature of your Envy 4500 printer.
To be able to use the scan to email feature the printer must be setup with web services which requires the printer to be connected to your wireless network with an active internet connection. I have included the Getting Started with ePrint document for reference.
If the printer has been setup with a wireless connection, please set a manual IP address and manual DNS server for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots, on how to do this. Please don’t worry that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.
Please let me know how it goes.

  • The ENVY 110 is connect to the internet thru the router, how do I direct print too?

I have a desk top computer next to the HP Envy 110, and am having trouble figuring out how to use the printer.  It's connected to the router, but it disconnects when the USB port is plugged in.  Is there a way to print from the desktop directly without plugging in?  The desktop does not have wireless, but there is a Netgear N300 adapter plugged in to connect to the router.  I would appreciate any ideas.

Connect the printer to the router usung the Wireless Setup Wizard  on the frot of the printer.
Your computer will be able to connect to the printer as long as the computer is connected to the same rouer (yes, even with an Ethernet cable, it will be able to communicate with the printer).
Let me know what operating system you have and what router you are using and I can provide more specific help.

  • Envy 7645 Cannot connect to web services

I have a new Envy 7645 that cannot connect to the web services.
    Things I have tried:
Verified Internet access. The printers "Web Access Test Results" report shows "No problems found"
Verified wireless connectivity by connecting to the printers Embeded Web Server
I statically set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 (primary) and 8.8.4.4 (secondary)
The IPv4 address was assigned via DHCP so I changed it to static (manually) assigned
Re-verified wireless connectivity by connecting to the printers Embeded Web Server with the static IP
Lots of printer reboots to make sure the changes took effect. (Have you tried turning it off and on again? Ha!)
    Logged into the https://www.hpconnected.com website
The printer is registered under my devices tab
The printer status is "offline"  (I assume this would change if the web services were working)
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello treadwayl,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Thanks for putting the time in to a very informative post about the ENVY 7645 not being able to connect to Web Services. When you attempt, what is the exact error or message?
I would like to you try the DNS of: Primary DNS Server = 209.244.0.3 & Secondary DNS Server = 209.244.0.4
Re-boot printer and router, then try again to connect.
Let me know the out come, cheers.

  • I cannot connect an external device on my hp envy x2

i cannot connect an external device on my hp envy x2. My phone, an external hard drive, a printer, an external dvd drive all doesnt show on the laptop.

    Hello dginther,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand wireless is not working properly. If the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore
Next, please try the steps in this HP document: Troubleshooting Your Wireless Network and Internet Connection (Windows 8)
These steps should be enough to resolve the issue. If not, you can try a manual reinstall of the driver:
    1. Go into Device Manager, then Network adapters.
    2. Right-click on the wireless driver, and select "Uninstall".
    3. Restart the computer. This will force the driver to reinstall itself.
Please let me know the results of your troubleshooting. Thanks!
