Cannot connect to 1 Ghz G4 Flatpanel on home intranet or from INTERNET.
Here is the set up:
1) Powerbook G4 Aluminum running Leopard 10.5.1
2) White iMac Dual Corp Intel running Leopard 10.5.1
3) 1 Ghz Flatpanel G4 iMac running Leopard 10.5.1
Items 1 thru 3 are HOME networked using an ACTIONTEC DSL modem which distributes intranet addresses WIRELESSLY to all computers running Airport band B/G. DSL service is per Qwest.
4) White iMac Dual Corp Intel running Leopard 10.5.1 wireless on Office network behind firewall with appropriate ports opened and directed to target computer at home.
PROBLEMATIC BEHAVIOR.
Prior to upgrade from Tiger, I could remote in from the office using both my desktop, or my laptop which I never have online at the same time since they share the same fixed internal IP address. This could view and control the one targeted computer behind the DSL Modem/wireless router at home. When at home, with the laptop or using the intel iMac, I could use ARD to monitor/view and control any computer in the home intranet.
Once upgraded to Leopard, ARD still works from the office into the home for the intel dual core desktop machine. However, I cannot connect to the flat panel G4 desktop AT ALL. It is visible on my list of computers and shows available (or sometimes Screen sharing avialable). It will not allow me to view with screen sharing over iChat either.
Solutions tried: just about everything I can find on this website / discussion list. Nothing works to bring this flat panel G4 online. And, other than remoting in when away from home to help my wife with her desktop, the G4, used by my teen boys, is the machine I really need to surveil.
Does any guru out there think that an uninstall reinstall of ARD files would help?
I need this solved definitively.
Thanks
PS: Yes, ports are open at home and at work. From inside the intranet at home I can see the G4 domed base mac but not connect. If I reconfigure the ports to target the computer from the internet it demonstrates the same behavior: I can see it listed as available but msg: Cannot connect is returned.
Sorry if that was unclear to begin with.

WRT610N : laptops cannot connect to 5 Ghz wireless network !
Hello,
I have a Linksys WRT610N (hardware v1) router, and i configured the wireless settings for the 5 Ghz and the 2.4 Ghz
wireless network, but the problem is that my laptops (wifi n compatible) only detect the 2.4 Ghz network, but NOT the
5 Ghz network. I have no clue what the problem might be :-(
These are my configurations :
Settings for wireless network (5 Ghz) :
network mode : only wireless-n
network name (SSID) : WRT610WiFi-N
channel width : auto (20 or 40 Mhz)
wide channel : auto (DFS)
standard channel : auto (DFS)
SSID broadcast : enabled
Settings for wireless network (2.4 Ghz) :
network mode : only wireless-g
network name (SSID) : WRT610WiFi-G
channel width : only 20 Mhz
wide channel : auto
standard channel : auto
SSID broadcast : enabled
Security Mode on both is "WPA2-personal", and encryption is "WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES"
But my laptops only see the WRT610WiFi-G, and not the other one :-(
I am somewhat disappointed currently, as you can understand, but hopefully someone here can
provide me with a solution for this problem...
best regards,
Chris.

Cannot connect to Wi-fi outside of my home counrty.
I cannot use my Macbooks’ airport to connect to Wi-fi within Japan. In the U.S. I never had problems connecting, using multiple locations across multiple states. However, in Japan at multiple locations (Starbucks, local cafe, my own room) it always fails. Airport recognizes access points, says it is connected, but the web page never loads. I know that all of these locations are working as I also have an iPad and it has no trouble recognizing the access points and connecting. If I insert my ethernet cable, i have no trouble using the internet on my macbook. Can anyone help me to figure this out. As I am in Japan, I cannot exactly walk into the nearest Apple store and ask for help.(My Japanese being only on the most basic of levels) Nor, can I call America's apple support as I do not have a phone that can call outside of the country.

WRT54GS cannot connect to windows media center with xbox360/can stream media from PC to x-box
- running win XP MCE and set up xb 360 on wireless router WRT54GS updated from V1 to V 4.71.4 . PC wired to router and DSL signal goes by wire from wall to modem, router, PC. I can stream media through xbox but not make the WMC connection. I still get the"xbox360 not found on network". I have gone through x-box set up page and installed the setup files. I excluded windows firewall as a problem. I can connect to Xbox live and xbox live/media tests on the xbox run w/o any failures.
Thanks for your reply Yes, I can connect to Xbox live from x box w/o diff. It seems that the xbox can "see" the PC but the PC cannot "see" the xbox. My PC is XP not Vista.

I have a MacBook - I am unable to connect to App Store - I have no problems using the internet to connect to anything else. If you don't see any messages, not have anti-malware running or the Firewall on, try installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8 (according to your profile).
Restart your Mac after the combo in installed, try the App Store.
Also... if you have an app called Little Snitch installed, that can prevent a connection to the App Store. -

I just switched internet provider and ran into this: My MacPro OS 10.6.8, recognizes the modem, as does my HP Officejet 6500A Plus wireless printer, but the computer doesn't "see" the printer. HP tried all its procedures, Mac Utility Disk repair was used without resolving the blind spot. Can you help? Now what?
If you just changed Routers, it is quite possible the Printer is holding onto its old IP Address, which is no longer in the smae subnet and not visible from the rest of your equipment.
You need to know what the IP Address of the printer is. Some HP printers will show you on a front panel, some can print it on a test page. -
I right clicked, chose "Save Page As...", chose both HTML Only and Complete on 2 different tries. When I tried to bring the page back up when disconnected from the internet network, I receive the "Server Not Found" error page. I shouldn't have to be connected to bring a saved page back up. I've not had this happen before, and it has only happened w/ a particular page, but one which is perfectly normal. What might be the explanation and solution? Thank you.
Jeff BowrsI would start with seeing if the Web Browser on the G4 can get to 192.168.0.1 which should be the web server (Set Up pages) on the router.
If that does not work I would double check the cable (Use another).
If you can I would connect two computers together and see if the Self Assigned IP (169.xxx.xxx.xxx) works to eliminate the Ethernet Card.
You have no connection to the Internet.
You need to sort out where it is breaking down.
As other devices seem to get on the 'Net then it would appear to be:-
The Ethernet Port on the routing device.
The Cable itself.
The Card or Port on the Mac

HT1222 I get a "cannot connect to iTunes store"when I try to retrieve updates on my iPad 2.
I get a "Cannot connect to iTunes Store"whenI try to update my Apps from the Apps icon. I am more than totally clueless. Help please.
Try rebooting your router first. Unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it in again. Reboot your iPad as well.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If you still can't connect to the iTunes store, look here for help.
