Cannot Connect to ANIserver
Hi.
I'm after a reboot on LMS 2.6 server, the CM home page started showing the following message: "Cannot connect to ANI Server since it is down". I followed the procedures as in the thread "Ciscoworks ANI server cannot connect, Joe Clark please help", but, in the end, after I restarted yhe Damon Manager, all seervices came up, except for the ANI database engine. After I started this serrvice manually, it came up, but the ANI.log file reappeared and the message on the CM home became "Please wait... ANIServer is still initializing."
The result for the pdreg command is below:

Before your last message, I've disabled all DFM polling and SNMP trap receiving. After that, the RME home started working normally and I was able to manage jobs once again. You were right, the server coudn't handle all the traps and the polling, but even after disabling those, the CM home still shows the JRM down message. I tried stopping and restarting the JRM, like you suggested, but the problem persisted.
The system is a Windows 2003 on a VMWare ESXi. The hardware is a dual Xeon with 4GB of dedicated RAM to the LMS server. I don't have the clock informations now, but I can provide it tomorrow.
P.S.: Is there any clean way to prevent DFM from processing SNMP traps? For test purpooses, I changed the SNMP port, but it makes Windows to generate lots of ICMP port unreachable packets and I don't intend to leave it this way.

Thanks in advance!Most of the it has been noticed that the ANIServer may fail if aniserver.properties is corrupted. The simplest way to check is to compare size of aniserver.properties against aniserver.properties.orig, if aniserver.properties has a smaller size you should repair it. It should contains more information thatn in ANIServer.properties.orig. To confirm you can share both the files # NMSROOT/campus/etc/cwsi/.
Instructions how to restore the properties file:
1) Stop the daemon manager : win: net stop crmdmgtd | sol: /etc/init.d/dmgtd stop
2) Copy ANIServer.properties.orig ANIServer.properties
3) Edit the ANIServer.properties
DEVICESROOT=.
into
DEVICESROOT=NMSROOT\\campus\\lib\\classpath
(replace NMSROOT with the correct directory where NMS is insralled. Default location is C:\PROGRA~1\CSCOPX for windows and /opt/CSCOpx/ for solaris. Note the use of two backslashes in the DEVICEROOT properties. )
4) Start the daemon manager : win: net start crmdmgtd | sol: /etc/init.d/dmgtd start
Now the ANIServer process should be in "Running with busy flag" State.

Topology services cannot connect with multihomed LMS 3.2

I'd like to ask for you help. I've installed LMS 3.2 on a server with 2 NICs and we're having a problem executing Topology Service from a remote host.
When I try to launch Topology-Services I get the following error:
Campus Manager Error: "Cannot connect to ANIServer: ANIServer6.0-<hostname>"
Probable cause: "Unknown hostname..."
Recommended Action: "Check wether the ANIServer6.0-<hoostname> process is up and running"
I can see in the java trace that the host communicates correctly with the primary NIC and I don't know for what reason, it uses the second NIC IP of the LMS server when it has to connnect to the OSAGENT service (port 42342 ).

For security reasons, the host is strictely not allowed to communicate with the secondary NIC (it is not routable).
- Is it possible to bind all the communications of the "remote client" to the primary NIC IP ?

- Is Topology Services supported with multi homed configuration ?

Regards.Kindly check if the hostname of the server is resolveable properly with the correct IP address on the client machine and port 42342 is not blocked between server and client in any way.
Its must that client must resolve the hostname of the LMS server with the correct IP Address. If DNS is not configured on the client machine, then you need to do manual entry in the host file of the client machine. I hope you are able to launch the topology from the LMS server.

To run Topology on a multi-homed machine, there are two requirements.
•All IP addresses must be configured in DNS.
•Owing to restrictions with CORBA, only one IP address can be used by the client or browser to access the server. You must select one IP address as the external address, with which the client will login to the CiscoWorks server.
To select an IP address, modify the gatekeeper file located in NMSROOT\lib\vbroker\gatekeeper.cfg
where NMSROOT is the directory (opt/CSCOpx by default) in which CiscoWorks is installed.
Replace every instance of external-IP-address with the external IP address you choose, and remove the "#" character, from the following:
•#vbroker.gatekeeper.backcompat.callback.host=external-IP-address
•#vbroker.se.exterior.host=external-IP-address
•#vbroker.se.iiop_tp.host=external-IP-address
•#vbroker.se.interior.host=external-IP-address
After modifying the gatekeeper file, restart the Daemon Manager. To do this, first stop the Daemon Manager by entering:
net stop crmdmgtd
Now, start the Daemon Manager by entering:
net start crmdmgtd

I know there is posts about this, but haven't found a solution that works for me.
I having problems with topology view in Cisco Prime LMS 4.1. LMS 4.1 is running as an virtual appliance.
When trying to start it, I get the message:
Cannot connect to ANIServer7.0-CISPRI001
1. Unknown Hostname
2. Unknown Error
Recommended action
1. Check if hostname is DNS resolvable
2. Check whether the ANIServer process is up and running.
I known the hostname is resovable, nslookup gets the ip address from the DNS server.
I know that the ANIServer prosess is running, although it says:
"Running with busy flag set". Not sure why busy flag is set and what impact that causes. But this tread, https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/638316#638316, says not to worry.

The server has been restarted several times, after doing changes that requiers restart.
I'm running Java 1.6.0_24.
Since this is an virtual appliance, and not windows-server, I'm not sure if I can test topology from the server.
What have we done? Well, we removed several devices from LMS to concetrate on our core netwok. Also removed seed devices that we don't need at the momement.
Now I'm not sure what to do.

Geir1. Has it ever worked? If yes, has anything changed? If no, then your installation may be suspect.
2. Do you get the same error when you are at the server itself (as opposed to accessing LMS remotely via a browser)? If yes, then the ANIServer process is likely not running. Look here for instructions on how to perform server self test and restart processes.
3. If the problem is limitied to client acess, I'm assuming you've checked suggestion #1 in your post. Beyond that, I have seen a similar issue when Java is not running the exact version (1.6.0_24) recommended by the LMS. I've also seen a clear of the Java cache remedy this issue.

Macbook Pro Cannot Connect to SMTP
I am running a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8. I use Mac Mail app to send and receive e-mail. Since Thursday 27th Dec 2012 I have been unable to send e-mail. I get the grey spinning wheel until the following error message appears:
The SMTP connection to server “mail.(mydomain).co.uk” failed.
My outgoing mail server is currently showing as offline. In fact I have 2 e-mail accounts and both are showing as offline. No problem receiving mail. Connection doctor connects fine to incoming mail, but not outgoing.
I have tried the following (plus other things) without any success:
Checked all the details, passwords etc
Changed ports from 25 to 465 and 587
Checked my IP address - it is not blacklisted
Removed and re-added e-mail account
Telnet port 25 - it is not blocked, but appeared to successfully connect (from what I understood from checking www)
Temporarily disabled firewall
Re-installed Mac app
Rebuilt mailbox
Repaired disk permissions
Used the repair disk utility
Deselected SSL and changed various options within "Edit SMTP server list"
Reset the keychain
Tried updating software but it says no update available.
Re-instated an old Accounts.plist (and one other file which I forget, something like com.apple.mail) from time capsule.
I then set up a hotmail account on Mail app but had exactly the same problem, ie cannot connect with SMTP server.
However, I set up my e-mail account on my wife's iPad with the same details and there was no problem at all, e-mail sent just fine as it does from my iPhone. So the issue has to be with my Macbook, right? Can anyone help before I go and spent £1250 on a new Macbook? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work. So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Cannot connect to other computers on network
We have a small office network with 7 macs on it. 5 wired 2 laptops with Airport Extreme.
We have an 8 port switch where the 5 desktops and the airport connect. When I am on a laptop I cannot connect to any of the desktops. It does not even see them (and same with desktop to laptop) What do I need to do to share these two on the airportConfigure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) so that it the option to distribute IP addresses is DISABLED. That will place the wireless and wired computers on the same subnet.

we make the Application Management for a Customer PI System.
Scenario:
- the SAP Gui Connection to the ABAP Stack is routed via SAPRouter and Works fine.
SAP Gui -> our SAP Router -> VPN Box from Customer -> Firewall Customer -> ABAP Stack PI System
- WebAccess its working fine, the Customer use Webdispatcher on every PI Server...
Browser -> VPN Box from Customer -> Firewall Customer -> Java Stack (Port: 5xx00 btw. 81xx (Webdispatcher))
Problem:
Our Problem ist, we can not proceed the Integration Builder or the ESB, the Java Web Start works fine and open the Logon Screen Correctly -> but i fill the Logon Screen with my User name and Password and press Logon come the follwing Error:
"Cannot connect to server using message server: ms://<hostname>.<domain>:8134/P4"
In the Details from the Error Message:
"<hostname>.<domain>:53404 Reason: com.sap.engine.services.rmi_p4.P4IOException:
Cannot open connection to host: <IP-Adress of Central Instance> and Port: 53404"
The Customer says, the Firewall is open with the IP Adresses and P4 Port but i dont think so...

did you check if the browser is using a proxy? (In this case your scenario unfortunately won't work).
P4-port should generally be routed via a proxy (described in the help.sap.com), but within the PI-Tools(JNLP) the proxy-usage is not implemented. There is even a SAP-note that describes how to check the JavaWebStart-Proxyconfiguration, but this won't help either.
If there is a proxy defined in the browser everything is working fine till you pass the logon-screen but even with the correct "javaws"-settings you won't be able to go on.
(This problem is pretty bad if you do have developers and the SAP-servers seperated because of security issues. I'm hoping that this malfunction will be solved with upcoming patches.)
Solution: Establish a connection without any proxy in between.
E.g.: a terminal server in the same network
It would be helpful to find more people with the same problem to force a fix from SAP for that.
If anyone else is having problems with this, please add a comment to this thread.

Sometimes deleting the account and then re-creating it can solve this issue
Write down all the information in accounts before doing this
Highlight the account on the left and click the minus button
Then click the plus button to add the new account and follow the prompts -

Updates in iOS App Store. Cannot connect to iTunes Store
I have been having an issue with my iPhone. Whenever I tap the updates tab on the bottom of the App Store window it pops up with a message saying that my iPhone Cannot connect to the iTunes Store. It is not an issue with my Wifi connection as I have tried over 3G. It is not my Apple ID as I have reset my password checkede all of my details and it works fine on the same Apple ID on my iPad. It is just my phone. I spent and hour on the phone with Apple Technical Support and they could not troubleshoot it, so put me through to a Senior Advisor. The phone line then cut off from Apples end. Even after I say OK to the message that opens it does not let me see my updates, it just shows a badge. Also the purchased bar in the updates section is not there. I can access the rest of the store as well, like the Top 25, Featured, Categories and Search. Just not my updates. It sounds like something so small it's not even worth it but it gets really annoying!
The guy at Tech support went through numerous things with me. Signing in and out of my Apple ID and signing in on a different one. Checking my Internet connection. Resetting my network settings. Resetting all of my settings and have you turned it off and on again? I had tried all of those previous to being on the phone with him.
I was wondering has anyone else had this problem? How can it be solved? Should I take my iPhone into an Apple Store? Should I reset it by erasing all data on it?

I had realised that my iPhone Date & Time settings were not on auto so I can manually change them. Also I had heard rumours that other peoples' iPhones were doing the same thing as mine. I had looked into it for a day or so and found the answer on a website from Google.

IPad app store message "Cannot connect to iTunes store"
Recently my iPad (wifi) & my husband's iPhone (AT&T)have been unable to connect to the app store or iTunes. We get the message "cannot connect to iTunes store". The only thing that I have done recently is download a kindle book & add a Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard was never paired with the iPhone so I don't think that could be the issue. The iPad & iPhone have both been updated, but that hasn't resolved the issue. There was no problem connecting to iTunes through the PC to run the update. Why would both devices suddenly have the same problem? One is wifi & one is 3G so it's not the connection. They have nothing in common except the error. Any help would be appreiciated since this is getting frustrating. Thanks!
Hi, Thank you! I did as you suggested but it didn't work. So, this time I cleared all apps out of the tray, signed out of my account at the store, and did a hard reboot. Then on my desktop I signed out of my account in iTunes and then synced. I have signed back into the store on the iPad but still get the same message.

HP Color Laserjet PRO MFP M177FW Cannot connect to web services
I bought a HP Color Laserjet PRO MFP M177FW today and I set up it. It can print and scan over wireless network. However, It cannot connect to web services correctly. I set the DNS numbers with google DNS addresses. I changed its IP address with manually. The IP address is unique. Normally It doesn't enable/remove webservices. But when I restart it, it can do for few minutes. It can take an e-mail address but It doesn't print any information sheet. When I try to print a sheet It says "Connection Problem" at first few minutes and later it says "Connecting"and it waits, there is no error message. What am I suppossed to do? Please help me.
