Cannot connect to App Store nor to iTunes (support did not help)

Specific request: I have never been able to connect to the iTunes Store
Details:Describe the alert message you received:
Have never been able to connect to the App store, nor to itunes (support not able to help).
New MBPro last August, running OS 10.7.5, have a code for Mt Lion which I have been trying to download ever since. (Am confined to bed a lot so cannot just run down to Apple store.) Have never been able to connect to the app store or to iTunes (support could not help me: They simply documented the basic instructions, which has never once worked.) On and off over the months of trying both, I have had to make 4 different Apple Id's, each of which eventually stop working.
Have tried a dozen things from apple support forums. None worked. Have no firewall or antivirus software. This is what messages I get.
“Error -1202 and "Unable to connect to the App Store", etc. “ iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “s.mzstatic.com.”.
The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “s.mzstatic.com.”, which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyway? iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “init.itunes.apple.com”.

**iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “securemetrics.apple.com”.  Have googled each and followed all suggestions found over the past many months. Nothing works.
Have tried changing date/time,(it's correct),  making all blue security certificates " always trust" in Keychain and adding this (208.67.222.222) to network address under DNS, and fixed permissions literally 6 times in a row. Also, just added instructions to terminal all per online support.
If I didn't love my Mac I would sell it after all this frustration. Cannot begin to estimate the hours, days I've spent on this.

  • Some of the applications on my iPad cannot be updated because the iPad cannot connect to App Store

    I don't understand why the applications I have on my iPad don't get updated. Every time I choose Update All, there appears a message saying CANNOT CONNECT TO APP STORE. Is there any problem between my iPad and the App Store or is there any problem with the App Store itself?

    Hi Just go to ITunes Sign out then Sign back in. This may help. Also you need to update software to ios 8.1 Cheers Brian

  • Cannot connect to App Store on iPhone 6

    I purchased a new iPhone 6 two weeks ago.
    Upon turning it on and attempting to download some apps I constantly came upon the error message 'Cannot Connect to App Store'.
    There is no connectivity issue in terms of my wifi or 3/4G. Basically I cannot download or update Apps and it is very inconvenient.
    I attended the Apple Store 2 days after I purchased the phone but the Genius there updated the phone and eliminated any hardware issues. He said that it was an issue specific to my phone connecting to the Apple Store. He helped me contact Apple to inform them.
    Unfortunately the replies I got from Apple were absurd - they completely missed the issue and just fixated on whether I had an internet connection or whether my phone was updated, even though I had said in my question that I had been through all that.
    Does anyone have any advice? I would be very grateful as I do not have the time to go in and dispute this with Apple and arrange a new iPhone.

    Hi mate, I had the exact same problem and just figured it out.
    On your phone, go to
    Settings>> iCloud, then sign out.
    Settings >> Itunes & App Store, then click on your Apple ID username and sign out. Then sign in again.
    Try going to the App store again and it should work. Worked for me.
    Found another blog that highlighted some issues between iCloud login and App store login causing some kind of conflict.
    Haven't got to the bottom of it yet, but at least I can use the app store for now.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    iPhone 4s, recently updated to ios7. App store worked on the first day - since then, every time i open the app I get
    "cannot connect to app store" flash up about 3 times.
    Have tried reading up, and doing all the suggested fixes from other posts:
    - Connected to itunes and PC
    - Advanced date and time 'months' and even 'years'
    - Changed the 'cookies' setting in safari
    - Many, many 'resets' (holding 'home and lock)
    - used 'iforgot' to reset app
    none of the above have worked. Curiously, if I use Appsfire (bargain apps, free apps etc) and choose an app from there - it directs me to the store where I can complete a purchase.
    just nothing through the app store itself.
    Am really hoping to avoid a full restore.

    That's because there are not enough apps that use Passbook yet. Wait.

    Okay, thanks for offering those helpful details
    it's a brand new iPad;
    you did the initial setup via Setup Assistant;
    you are getting online via your home wi-fi network
    Internet sites appear to be performing as expected;
    you restored your "whole ipad"
    New questions:
    Regarding the last point (restoring your iPad), which option did you choose?
         a.  Settings > General > Reset All Settings; OR
         b.  Settings > General > Erase All Content and Settings.
    Using the iTunes app on your iPad, are you able to purchase and download a song?
    Using the iTunes application on your computer:
    are you able to purchase and download a song?
    are you able to purchase and install an iPad app?
    Finally — for now, at least — let's be sure we've covered all the bases by double-checking that, unlikely as it is, no one has enabled a restriction against Installing Apps on your iPad.   Do this by looking in Settings > General > Restrictions.
    Please don't become too frustrated with this bug.  It is a fixable problem, and it will eventually be fixed for you.  Nevertheless, if ever you feel impatient with the pace of help that I or someone else on this thread offers you, remember you can always make an appointment with the highly-trained and knowledgeable folks at your nearest Apple Store's Genius Bar.

    I had this issue too, the suggestions were to set the time to automatically, to reboot the device, to reset the wifi router - nothing helped. What I did is go to 'settings' >> App Store and iTunes >> press on the Apple ID, choose logout and renter your password. NOW IT WORKS!!!!! (found from another thread: iPad Air 2 on iOS 8.1.1  cannot connect to App Store ) Cheers.
