Cannot connect to cellular network after 6.1.2 upgrade

I just upgraded my iPhone 5 to 6.1.2 this morning via an over-the-air update on my WiFi network. The upgrade appears to have been successful, however, it can no longer connect to the Verizon cellular network.
I tried restarting the device, but no luck.
I tried turning Airplane mode on and off....no luck.
I confirmed that Celluar is on in the General settings.
My wife's phone and my phone are on the same Verizon account and I had service (full bars) just prior to performing the upgrade. My wife's phone has not been upgraded and it still has full bars.
I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

I tried resetting the phone back to the factory settings, but still had the same problem. I made an appointment at the Apple Store and took it in.
I told the tech everything that I tried and he checked a couple of other things behind the counter. Ultimately, he diagnosed it as a problem with the SIM slot on the phone--he took the SIM out and it didn't give him a "missing SIM" message (or the like) which apparently the phone is supposed to do when you remove the SIM.
He replaced the phone with a new one. Fortunately, I had all my stuff backed up on iCloud so within about 20 mins, my phone was back to normal (less all my music content, which I synced when I got home.)
The tech mentioned that the troubleshooting steps I tried were sound, so if you experience the same problem give varjak paw's suggestions a try first. :-)

  • Cannot connect to the network after fresh install

Hello everyone. So I followed the Beginner's Guide to the letter during setup. Everything was all peachy, including the network (since I used the FTP/HTTP ISO to install Arch Linux). My NIC got assigned an IP address from my router via DHCP. However, after the installation process was finished and I booted to the actual system, it seems that I cannot get an IP address from the router at all. When I try to run dhcpcd eth0, it always times out.
There have been a couple of posts about this in the past month, and I tried all the solutions that were mentioned there. None of them worked. I double-checked my /etc/rc.conf, /etc/dhcpcd.conf, and /etc/hosts files. They are correct as far as I can tell. No typos or anything like that. Heck, I even tried increasing dhcpcd's timeout to a full minute. Still no dice. This post seems to suggest that dhcpcd has a regression bug.
So... does anyone have any suggestions as to the next course of action I should take? I would appreciate any help.
EDIT: For what it's worth, I'm trying to install Arch Linux on a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. I'm not too sure about the exact model for the built-in NIC, but I suspect it is one of those built-in NICs from Intel.

No, I have not even installed any DE/WMs yet (how can I if the network doesn't even work?). Hell, X.org is not even set up yet. Keep in mind that my problem takes place IMMEDIATELY after I finished running the FTP/HTTP installer (so in the Beginner's Guide, I would be right at the beginning of Part II, which is configuring the new Arch system). The kernel version is 2.6.30.4. The ethernet card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100, I believe. I don't believe a driver is needed for that card due to kernel support (this card does indeed work with Ubuntu as well as the Arch livecd itself). And yes, I did read the relevant wikis, including the Beginner's Guide and the Network wiki.
So to summarize, the network does indeed work while I'm going through the initial stages of installation with the Arch livecd. Since I am using the FTP/HTTP installation CD, I have to download all of the packages I need for installing the base system. It is after that point when the base system is fully installed, allowing me to boot off the hard drive, when the network fails to get an IP address from the router.
Anyhow, thank you very much for the welcome and for your response! Hopefully we will be able to get to the bottom of this problem.
EDIT: This person and this other person seem to have the same problem I do. They, unfortunately, did not come up with a sufficient resolution to the problem. I hope this helps in making the issue clear.

  • Cannot connect to college network after installing Vista business on Satellite A215

I have a Satellite A215-S4757, which i brought with me to college, I was told that the college's server has a problem running on vista home, which is what I had, currently the wireless is down, so after installing business and connecting the ethernet cable my notebook does not pickup any of several networks available, wireless or otherwsie

What to say you can also access the network using Vista.
But please note that the Vista OS supports additional network access security settings which must be either disabled or reset.
This How to website released by Microsoft should help you to configure the network settings with Vista:
    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/networking.mspx
    Here several hints:
You should try to Open Network Diagnostics by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area, and then clicking Diagnose and repair.
The Vista supports additional firewall options. Please disable it while trying to connect to the server.

  • Error message cannot connect to IMAP server after 31.4.0 upgrade installed

After automatic security upgrade 31.4.0, I get an error message "IMAP server has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem."
    No problems until the upgrade.
It is a Mac Mini running 10.7.5
My Mac laptop without the upgrade works fine.

Restart the router and the broadband device, if they're separate. If there's no change, see below.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • HT4623 I cannot connect to my wifi after updating to iOS 6

I updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 6.  I cannot connect to my wifi after updating to iOS 6.  I updated while connected to iTunes.  I can no longer connect to the wifi that I had previously used at that location.  However, I can connect to all of the other wifi areas I had previously connected to ie. home, coffee shop, etc.
I have tried turning off cellular data..  Other than not being able to connect to my office wifi it appears that iOS 6 is working properly..
Thank you in advance for your assistance

I have the same problem too and I have not been able to "fix" it. It is very frustrating! My other electronics connected to my wifi:  pc, ipad, iphone 3G,and TV they all working fine. I went to the Apple store and they say this problem is ralated to my network provider, then when I went to AT&T they say it is Apples problem. Who do you believe?

here is a "copied" version with credits for those looking for a solution to an annoying problem Apple should patch.  (Yes, I'm aware of the irony of that statement)
July 18, 2012 · by Arthur Lockman · in Apple, Tutorials
After doing a reinstall of Lion a few weeks ago, I found that my computer suddenly would reject every VeriSign certificate that it encountered. Using Chrome, that meant that I couldn’t even access Twitter.com, because it thought that the certificate was wrong. I couldn’t login to the Apple developer portal, I couldn’t authenticate a device with XCode, I couldn’t make a purchase at Apple.com, I couldn’t download updates from the Mac App Store, and I couldn’t login to Mint.com, among other sites. I essentially couldn’t do anything that used a VeriSign certificate for SSL.
What did I do? I called my trusty AppleCare advisor, hoping for an answer. I thought that maybe they could help me figure it out. After getting to senior support, I was told to reinstall Lion, which I did to no avail. My case was then forwarded to the Apple engineering team, with 3 to 5 days to wait until I had an answer. I looked around, through my console logs and through Keychain access, and finally came up with an answer, and a solution to my problems.
It turned out that my solution was pretty simple. I had to delete a few files and reset one to its default setting.
Delete the files /var/db/crls/crlcache.db and /var/db/crls/ocspcache.db. These can be found using Finder’s Go >; Go To Folder menu (Cmd + Shift + G). This resets the cache of accepted certificates in the system. It doesn’t remove them, it just forces the system to rebuild the caches upon restart.
Open Keychain Access (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access). Select Certificates in the Category picker on the left side. In the search bar, type in the word Class. Look through that list, and find any certificates that have a blue + symbol over their icon. These are the ones you need to modify.
Select one that has a blue +, and hit Command + I. Click the disclosure triangle beside the “Trust” list to show the list of permissions. Now, what we need to do is to set this certificate to use the system defaults. However, for some reason, when you select it, it doesn’t save. So what you need to do is this. Under “Trust”, where it says “Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)”, change the dropdown menu to say “No Value Specified”. Then, close the window. It will ask for your administrator permissions. Then, open the info pane for that certificate again. Under “Trust” again, now set the dropdown that says “When using this certificate:” to say “Use System Defaults”. You can then close out of the info pane, and enter your password again. Do this for any of the certificates that have a blue + on their icon. There should only be one or two at most.
    Restart your system.
This solution seemed to work just fine for me. All of my certificate problems have been fixed. It must be something with the OSX installer that causes this certificate issue. I’ll file a bug report. Hopefully someone looks into it and fixes the flaw in the OS. And, I hope that this fixed the flaw for you.
Addendum – a note on security:
This procedure won’t affect the security of your Mac. I’ve had some questions come in about that, and if anything, it makes it more secure because then sites that require SSL certificates can actually use them, unlike before where they might default to non secure connections because the certificate was bad.

  • Can't connect to wifi network after iOS update

Can't connect to wifi network after iOS update.

This does not work in my case.
Situation: we have wifi at home using WPA encryption.
The iPod Touch 8GB connected seamless to this network and anything was ok. After some days i could no longer connect, the iPod told me "connection to network 'networkname here' failed". Deleting the network and reenter the (correct) passphrase was no help, but changing the SSID on the router was helpful: the iPod could connect again ... for several days.
Now things stopped working again. Resetting network settings did not help either.
The iPod can see the network, is asking me for the passphrase and after several seconds telling me: can't connect. On the router log i don't even see a dhcp request, but other laptops work fine with the same wifi network.
That's a mess, i cannot and will not change the SSID every some days just to get the iPod working again.

  • Iphone 3GS "cannot connect to data network"

Ever since I updated to the new operating system, my phone (3GS) hasn't worked properly. Sometimes with 3 or even 4 bars of 3G I cannot make phone calls or send text messages or use the browser. I feel like I've tried everything; I have: restored it, restarted it, reset network settings. I receive the "cannot connect to data network" very often, extremely frustrating. If anyone has any fixing advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, there may be a problem with the SIM card. Contact your carrier which should be Rogers with a 3GS, and request a new SIM card.

My problem appeared after upgrading to itunes 8.

I cannot connect to the Internet after installation of Windows Vista Ultimate edition. For some odd reason, it seems my ethernet has not yet been installed to my operating system and I do not know how to do that even with the internet, I have the LAN cable hooked up to my computer but I do not know exactly what to do about it. Is there some sort of driver I need to install, or what? How do I do that without the internet?
This operating system is on a separate partition to my other operating system that is connected to internet already (Windows Vista Premium) that I do not wish to use anymore because of it's corruption. I tell you this because you may know a way of finding the driver files on my previous operating system that I may be able to transfer to the other.
