Cannot Connect to DB2/AS400 Database

I have tried to connect using JDBC connection drivers to an AS/400 DB2 database (R5V4) in Topology. I was using the IBM Toolbax for Java and Hit JDBC/400 drivers without success. I am putting in the Host Name and Library with no other property. We do not have a port number to try the DB2 Universal JDBC Driver. Do we have to add any Jar file for DB2? Any help would be appriciated.

  • Error when connecting to DB2/AS400 as a Datasource

    Hi All,
I have an issue when connecting to DB2/AS400 as w datasource with IR studio. I am able to create an OCE but when click on tables it throws an error saying ""INFORMATIC.DM3601PF" is an undefined name. SQLSTATEB704
    sqlstate = 42S02
The drivers I used is the drivers provided by the IBM DB2 and also the Merant drivers provided for Hyperion by DB2. I used ODBC/DB2, ODBC/ODBC, ODBC/AS400 connection while creating an OCE but it did not help.
The exact version of the database is DB V5R4--AS400--OS. It is a 64 bit client.
    Can anyone help!!!
    Thanks,
    Sree

    Hi,
Connecting Hyperion with DB2 is simple. When we install DB2 client on the machine it adds a new entry in ODBC drivers, using that DB2 Driver create a system DSN by selecting the appropriate DB. Give the proper credentials.
Now open Hyperion IR select new Database option...Select ODBC/DB2 and choose the DSN name given by you while creating the system DSN. give the correct credentials to connect to DB.
After that it will ask for OCE creation...just create oce by giving app name and you are done with the connection.

  • User Role empty - Cannot connect to DB2

    Hello,
I'm having trouble with a WLSE 2.13 that we have installed. It doesn't let us access via web to the software; the error that appears when trying to do so is "User role is empty". There also appears a moving banner saying "Database failed to respond correctly" after trying to authenticate the user.
however, when trying t oaccess through SSH, it works OK.
This is what I get with a diag all command:

So it looks like the DB is corrupt for some reason. We have executed the initdb but no change in the error has been detected.

I do think that there may be a sector in the hard drive that is not working (you can see why in the bootlog.txt file that I'm also attaching), but it looks a bit strange that it has only affected the access through the web...
    Any ideas?

    Hi Fernando,
This might be related to few things:
    - file anisnmp.conf corrupted preventing TomCat to start properly (# reset device-snmp would fix it)
    - database corrupted and not accessible at all
(... reiniting the db might be the only solution)
    - user roles corrupted
(would need to delete the user roles to reconstruct them)
Opening a shell and hit "#show tomcatlog" would give you a more accurate idea.
In case of broken anisnmp.conf, the error message is pretty explicit.
In case of other problems, that would need more investigation by TAC.
Before doing anything, remind to perform backups!

    Hi,
We have had several customers report this after installing DPM 2012 R2.
To get past the below error while scheduling reports to be mailed.
Reporting Services Server cannot connect to the DPM database.
To repair the configuration, follow steps for repairing DPM from DPM Setup Help.
     ID: 3001
Perform the following steps as necessary:
    1. Created a new local group called "DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>"
    2. Created a new user called, "DPMR$<DPMServerName>" and added this user to DPMDBReader group that we created on step 1.
    3. Open SQL management studio and  add the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName  group to Logins under Security in SQL Management Studio.
    4. Modify the properties and under General – change the default database to the current DPMDB name.
    5. Under User Mapping – select the current DPMDB name and check the db_datareader checkbox.
    6. In SQL Management Studio, navigate to the Databases > DPMDB > Security > Users > and select the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group.
Right-click the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group and select properties. Under the
Securables section, click on Search. On the add objects dialog, click OK.
On the Select Objects dialog, click the Objects type, then check the
stored procedure checkbox. Browse and add the following two stored procedures
“Prc_MOM_Heartbeat_Get” and “prc_MOM_ProductionServer_Get”.    Grant the Execute permission for both of the stored procedures added.
    7. In SQL Reporting Services Configuration manager, under Report Manager URL - click on the link to open the portal (http://localhost/Reports)
          i. Click on the DPMReoprts_GUID to open the DPM reports.
          ii. Click on the DPMReporterDataSource
iii. On the poperties page, enabled "Credentials stored securely in the report server" on DPMReporterDataSource configuration page and added “DPMR$<DPMServerName>” user account that we created in step 2.
iv.  tick "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source."
          v.   Click ‘Test connection’ on the same page to verify whether it can connect successfully.
    8.  In SQL Reporting configuration manager - change the Service Account to use build-in account: Network Service
    9. Reboot the DPM Server.
    10. You should then be able to schedule e-mailed reports.

  • Cannot connect to the configuration database

I tried to configure my server with active directory after I have successfully configured sharepoint . For a mistake , they made me delete the active directory and now when I try to connect to the admin section or site page it me give the following error :
"Cannot connect to the configuration database"
Deleting the active directory ; I noticed that all the other users have disappeared and the service : SQL AGENT ( Sharepoint ) not run and the error is :
" This installation of SQL Server Agent is disabled. The edition of SQL Server that installed this service does not support SQL Server Agent." Thank you for the Help

Was the active directory server that you removed the last active directory server in the farm?  If so then your only two real choices are to rebuild everything from scratch or restore everything from backup.
If it was just that you were trying to make the SharePoint server into a Domain Controller, then I still think you may need to rebuild. But you can try re-adding the SharePoint server to the Domain.  It may have lost its Domain membership when you removed
AD from it and gone back to being a standalone server.

  • Cannot connect to the configuration database when App Server is down

    Hi,
We had a App Server not come up after a restart.
When trying to access a site we get
the "Cannot connect to the configuration database"
We have now started the App Server and everything working again...
My problem, there are 2 WFE servers with NLB Configured apart of the App Server ....Why wont the site work and why cant i connect to config DB?
Something must be misconfigured? Sites should be connecting to the WFE servers and work if App server is down.
Yes, NLB Points to the WFE Servers.
Any ideas where i can look? This is a Project PWA Server, not sure if that will make a difference but the root SharePoint site had the same issue.
    Thanks

    Hi Danie,
is it possible that the SQL Server is running on the same box as the SharePoint (application) server? This would be the only thing that can explain the symptoms. Please check following:
IP address of the SharePoint Application server by typing nslookup AppServerName on the SharePoint WFE in Command Prompt (cmd.exe). Replace
AppServerName with the FQDN of the application server, e.g. appserver.domain.local
IP address of the SQL server by typing nslookup SQLServerName on the SharePoint WFE in Command Prompt (cmd.exe). Replace
SQLServerName with the FQDN of the SQL server, e.g. sqlserver.domain.local
SQL Server alias configuration by checking the entries in the cliconfg.exe on both SharePoint WFEs
In most cases, SQL server has nothing to do with the SharePoint Application server role and it is stored on the separate box. My guess here is that the farm started as one-server farm setup and over the time got expanded by additional 2 WFEs, moving
Web Server roles from the initial server, leaving it with the application role (service applications) and SQL server on the same box.
But, I am just making an educated guess here. Can you provide some additional information?
    Hth,
    Aleks

    Hi all,
In advance i`m thankful for your help,
I come across a problem while migrating the Active Directory from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 R2,
SharePoint 2010 is getting this error Cannot connect to the configuration database. The same goes for the Administrative page,
Nothing is change in the MySql database, same log in, same server name, i guess it have something to do with the SharePoint Farm,
My question is will reinstalling the SharePoint do the job? Or is there an easy way to get back on my old track?

Verify that SharePoint is using the correct IP address for the SQL server. To do this, run the ping command on the Windows SharePoint Services server.
Verify that the SharePoint server is obtaining the correct IP address for the SQL server from DNS. To do this, run the
nslookup command from the SharePoint Server.
Make sure that there are no incorrect entries for the SQL server. To do this, examine the Hosts file on the SharePoint server. This file is in the following location:

On the SharePoint server, look for SQL client aliases. To do this, follow these steps: Click

    Hiya,
I don't think it is necessary to reinstall.
You should just confirm that your basic infrastructure is working.
1: On the SharePoint server, open cmd and write ping <SQL server name>
2: On the SharePoint server, open cmd and write nslookup <SQL server name>

    Hi Dude,
My firewall is disable in my db host.
I also check the firewall on client end and it is also disabled.
I also talk to my Network Administrator for adjustment in Router and Firewall to allow port 1521 to accept connection but still unsuccessful.
What seems to be the problem ?

  • Cannot connect to DB2 on XP

I have a weird problem. I'm using a Type-2 JDBC driver for DB2. My development environment is on XP using VisualAge. On that platform, I cannot connect to the DB2 database. The environment this program runs on is an NT 4.0 machine. On there, the same code works fine.
The DB2 libs are in c:\sqllib\java and are contained in the zip files db2java.zip and runtime.zip. In both environments, (both DOS cmd line and VAJ) these zip files are in the classpath.
    On XP, the line
    Class.forName("COM.ibm..db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver");
does load the class. However, when I go to register the driver I get the error:
    "No suitable driver"
The alias I am trying to connect to is cataloged on my machine. I can access it through RapidSQL and the command line db2 client. Is it possible that the driver is not compatible with WinXP? Can anyone think of another reason why this would not work on XP but work on NT 4.0.
    Thanks,
    Curt

    Hello,
I ran into a very similar problem when I upgraded to DB2 V7.2 in that my application could not find a Type 2 driver. I would recommend trying the same application using a Type1 driver just to see if you are running into the same bug I ran into.
To make the switch to a Type 1 driver go to c:\sqllib\java12 and issue the usejdbc1 command from the command line. You may have to back out of everything to avoid sharing violations. After I did this I was able to execute my application successfully. I am not sure if there is a fixpack available for this problem yet.
    Please report your results.
    Regards,
    Bill

    All:
Any help rendered would be appreciated. (jdk 1.4.2_06, Tomcat 4.0,

I have a web app (Jasper report tool) and I cannot connect to a Oracle 9i database.

    return true;
    }catch (SQLException e) {

4.I placed a copy of the jar file in TOMCAT common lib, and server lib.
I have tried various solutions listed at different web sites without success. Has anyone had similiar problems? Can anyone assist?

  • Cannot connect to Oracle 11gR2 database from SQL Server 2005

Both SQL Server (Windows) and Oracle (Linux) are in 64bit environments.
I have done the following on a Windows 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2005:
Install InstantClient from Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) to C:\Oracle
Install oledb from 64-bit ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) for Windows x64 by executing install.bat oledb c:\oracle odac
Note: Not sure whether 11.2.0.2.1 version of ODAC will cause any problem since I cannot find 11.2.0.1.0 version.
I have checked the Allow inprocess of OraOLEDB.Oracle provider in SSMS.
    I have executed sp_addlinkedserver @server = 'ORACLE_TEST', @srvproduct = 'Oracle', @provider = 'OraOLEDB.Oracle', @datasrc = '##.##.##.##:1521/TEST'
The ##.##.##.## is the ip address of the Linux server which has the Oracle 11gR2 database TEST.
    I have executed sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname = 'ORACLE_TEST', @useself = 'FALSE', @rmtuser = 'xxxx', @rmtpassword = 'yyyy'
The xxxx is the oracle username and yyyy is the password for the oracle user xxxx.
I know the oracle database TEST is up since I have setup connection in Oracle SQL Developer having:
    ##.##.##.## as the hostname
    1521 as the Port
    xxxx as the username
    yyyy as the password
    TEST as the service name
When I click Test Connection for the linked server ORACLE_TEST in SSMS, it just hang.
When I issue a query like select count(*) from oracle_test..xxxx.table1, it just run forever. I'm not so sure how to query an oracle table. I have also tried select count(*) from oracle_test.xxxx.xxxx.table1.
When I retype the password in the Linked Server Properties, it just run forever.
Do I need to create a tnsnames.ora on the Windows machine?
Do I need to change the tnsnames.ora on Linux machine?
    I'm very new to Oracle.

This forum is dealing with connections from an Oracle database to SQL Server - so the Oracle database is the driving site and this is the way round from your linked server set up.
As you're suing the instant client you might post your issue in the instant client forum:

  • Cannot Connect to SQL 2008 Database Error

I am on Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008 database and even after enabling the "TCP/IP" protocol and also "Named pipes" continue to get "EPMCFG-10368: Cannot connect to database..." error. Any additional troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to connect to a SQL Server 2008 database. I provided the correct server name, port, db name, user and pswd. When using an ODBC connection I connect without issue. However, when trying to connect via the EPM System Configurator I get an error.
