Cannot Connect to Home Network - Invalid Password

I moved to a new home which required a new password. I can connect my android devices to the passport wireless device just fine. I attempted to connect the passport device to my home network and I immediately receive the message "Invalid Password" and a split second later this message pops up " Attention, your request is currently being processed". I am entering in the correct password. I tried entering in an incorrect password and it shows the image that its attempting to connect and it takes about 15 seconds for me to get the "invalid password" message. Will I have to factory reset my device? I want to avoid this at all costs since I did this before and ended up needing to get a replacement passport device. Please help.

Okay, try these steps. Pictures would help, but I don't have time. Connect your Android device directly to the MPW via WiFi.Tap the menu (three bars) in the top left corner.Tap settings.Tap the name of your MPW just below the "My Passport Wireless" heading.Scroll down to the "Wi-Fi" section, and tap that. What you see here may vary from what I do a bit, as my MPW is connected to my home WiFi network. If you see your home Wi-Fi network name below the heading "Connect to Internet", then;Tap the blue "i" in a circle at the right of the name.Tap the "Forget This Network" item. If you don't get the blue "i" in a circle, which you probably wont, then I think you need to do need to do a manual System Only Reset, as per page 47 of the manual. What I'm thinking is that when you moved house, you kept the same SSID (wireless network name) on your wireless router, but changed the password. Is that correct? If so, the problem is that the MPW remembers your old network, and the old password, and keeps trying to connect using that information. Hence the above instructions to "forget" that network, at which time you can start again in setting up the MPW connection to your home wireless network. An alternative would be to change the wireless password on your wireless router back to what it was when the MPW was still able to connect, back at your old house. Still another alternative would be to change the SSID on your wireless router, and set up the MPW to connect to this "new" wireless network. Both those alternatives require a bit of work on your home wireless network, and require changes on all devices which use the network; either just a password change back to the old one, or both a password and network name (SSID) change. Both are more work than resetting the MPW. If you do reset the MPW, don't forget to also update it to the latest firmware, as I believe that a reset puts the original, as delivered firmware on to the MPW. If none of the above helps, I think you need to raise a support ticket with WD.

wireless home network does not appear in iphone. pc, laptops and iTV work perfect with wireless. I tried everything i can think of. anysuggestions?

If there is no problem with the iPhone seeing any other available wi-fi networks or connecting with any other wi-fi network your iPhone has access to, not sure how it can't be a problem with your wireless router or network regardless if the iPad and iMac have no problem.
No change after resetting network settings on the iPhone and/or after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

  • New iPod Touch 4th gen. cannot connect to home wi-fi network

When I launch wi-fi on my new iPod Touch 4th gen. my home network's name is displayed, but after entering my password the iPod is unable to connect - the wheel to the left of the network name just keeps spinning.   The network still functions properly for all my other devices (MacBook, 2nd gen. iPod Touch, wireless printer and my wife's PC) and the new iPod Touch did connect to the network in the Apple Store when I visited yesterday.   I know the password I enetered for my home network is correct because I've checked it in my keychain, and also the iPod did not inform me that it was the wrong password for that network - as it does if I enter another password.
I have followed the advice given to others - unplugging the Time Capsule and leaving it for 5 minutes, checking that all my software and firmware is up to date, 'forgetting' the network on my new iPod then searching for it again, and have completely restored the iPod - but it still cannot connect to my network.   If my network is functioning properly, and my new iPod was capable of joining the Apple Store's network yesterday, and I am sure that I am entering the correct password, it seems to me that my problem must be due to some network setting that is refusing to allow a new device to connect.   I can't find where that setting might be - can anyone advise?

depending on what router but hopefully all routers came to this default address....
    192.168.1.1/Wireless_MAC.asp
    from
    >Setup of the Basic Setup you goto
    >Wireless
    >WirelessMacFilter
also had an idea when i wanna make sure im typing the right one, i would do is tap each letter/# by 1, as in,
    (e.q.)
here's my ipod 4 and my ipod 2, the pswd is 123456
    ipod 4, i press 1
    ipod 2, i press 1
    ipod 4, i press 2
    ipod 2, i press 2
and so on till i reach both of them to 6 (1by1) to make sure i get it in there right. saw this on another wall it might depends on what channel your using, but i dont rly think that matters bc i have mine on auto and nvr had a problem.
i would do this even thou it may sound crazy to others....if i were you this is what i would do
    on your ipod 2Gen
    >Safari
    >address to 192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    -(wireless security settings for passcode)
    >tap the box for the password, whatever ur security is i would copy
    -IF WEP
-copy phrase key and Key 1
    -IF WPA
    -copy phrase key
    >open Notepad
    >under iCloud account Notepad
    >Paste the Key
    >either on your pc/mac or your 2nd Gen, go back to
    >192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    >change your Security Mode to Disable
    >goto your 4 Gen iPod Touch
    >goto settings and connect to it, if pswd is still in it then tap forget this network and reconnect to it
-once connected and got IP adresses
    >goto Notpad under iCloud
-you should have obtained your recent icloud msgs included the key you pasted
    -once obtained
    >gobk to pc/mac or ipod 2nd gen and re enabled the security and re-paste the key in
-once router adjusted try to connect to it
    >1st do your 2nd gen and forget this network reconnect to it and repaste the key
    >2nd goto ur 4rth gen from your notes, highlight the key in ur notpad and tap copy and forget this network reconnect to it and paste the key.
this should work bc i did it myself when i couldnt get connected bc thats almost the same steps i did.
somtimes i put my name up on here. remeber these names we put as our nickname doesnt mean its our real name or anything like that,

  • Connected to home network, but cannot access internet on ipad

I have got strong signal on home network but cannot access the internet. Tried resets, etc

It could be a simple problem that needs a reset for the related devices. Other than that, try to control the security settings and passwords of your home network. You might be using WEP password protocol to connect your home network. Try to use WPA protocol instead of WEP. Maybe it will help to solve your problem.

  • Can't connect to Home Network and Printer

    hi,
I just bought my first mac, its a macbook with leopard, and am having quite a bit of trouble connecting it to our home network. I'm not much of a computer whiz, so i have no idea what to do. Our network doesn't have any security, but does need a password, and each time i try to connect it after putting in my name and password it says "The Volume cannot be Mounted" and then comes up with an error message saying "an unexpected error occurred". And because i cannot connect to the network i cannot connect to our printers and need them desperately, i start uni in a week!
    what can i do?
    thanks
    dan
if more details are needed let me know...

What version of Leopard are you using? I asked because Apple just released 10.5.2.
Plus if you are adding a lone Mac to a windows network then read the user reports at MacWindows.com (you should have the site bookmark if you are going to mix Macs into PC networks).

  • IPad3 loses connection to home network and same happens to laptops.

I purchased the new IPad a week ago. Since then, I often lose connection to home network. Cannot join network unless I power off and on the modem/router. This also hapens every morning. The same is now happening with our  wireless laptops.  Never had any problems all these years until the iPad was introduced to our network. Our Internet provider confirmed that modem/router protocols were set per advice from Apple Support and they did additional tweaking but problem persists. I am thinking of getting a new modem and router but wonder if it is worth it. Has anyone had similar problems where their other devices are having the same connection issues as the iPad? Thanks.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • Hello my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi

Hello to all, with my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi. This only happens if I apply protection to the network. Unprotected my Iphone connects fine. Obviously the password to write error-free. I can not figure out what depends on this factor, however, another iphone connects fine. Help me please.

My iphone 4 recgonizes my home wifi and shows it under Settings, but will not access it, no signal shown, just 3G.  It will access other wifi signals.  My wife's iphone works fine, as does an ipad and macbook.  This is new for my iphone, about 2-3 days.
Help!  I reset network settings and rebooted the router (Apple), no avail

  • IPhone WiFi will not connect to home network.

iPhone will not connect to home network.  WiFi is on and correct password is entered.  iPhone error msg says incorrect password.  Reloaded network software and did not activate password but iPhone still shows network as locked.

Some people who experience issues connecting to or even seeing there Wireless network should follow these steps.
These steps are just a guideline and its not 100% that it will fix your issue.
Mainly, if the issue persists, its possible there is an issue with your iOS settings or a hardware failure within your iPhone or iPad, specifically the Wifi adapter.
You would want to follow these articles to do a reset & restore prior to saying it is a hardware issue.
    #1: Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    #2: Restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You will need to access your Admin control panel for your router.
If you have an Airport Extreme BaseStation, you just need to open the Airport Admin Utility found in Applications > Utilities Folder.
Enter your credentials and you will have access to the settings from there.
For a PC: Do NOT use the CD that came with your router. That is used for people who do not know how to setup a router properly and these settings will not be available for you in most cases.
If you are using anything other than an Airport BaseStation:
    Open a web browser:
    In the address bar, type:
192.168.1.1 (Mainly used for Asus, Linksys, etc) or 192.168.0.1 (D-link,Belkin)
How to figure out what the IP address is to type in?
    Windows:
Hold down the windows key, then press R. This brings up the run box. In that box type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press enter. In the black box that pops up, type "ipconfig" (without quotes) then hit enter. Your default gateway is the IP address for your router. It will start with 192.168.....
Take that number and put it into the address bar in your browser and hit enter. It will then ask you for a user name and password. For linksys, it's admin for both. If you have another brand, just google "default password for ******" replacing the asterisks with the brand name of the router. Once you have entered the correct user name and password, you're there.
    Mac:
1.From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
2.In System Preferences, from the View menu, select Network.
3.Select the appropriate port. For example, choose Ethernet for broadbandconnections, AirPort for wireless, or Internal Modem for dial-up.
4.Click Advanced... , and in the sheet that opens, click the TCP/IP tab.
The number next to "Router:" is your default gateway.
Once you get into your admin panel do these setting changes.
1.On the router change the channel for the 2.4mhz band to channel 1, 6, or 11 (recommended), rather than auto.
2.Also set that channel width to 20hz only, rather than 20hz or 40hz (Auto)
3.Make sure Security is set to WPA/WPA2-Personal. Anything else will cause issues. (of course, make sure you know your password for security)
4.Make sure to Apply/Save these settings. Sometimes the wireless connectivity will go out during this change and will come back on within 15-30 seconds.
5.On the iPhone/iPad go to Settings > Wi fi > click the blue arrow beside the network > Select Forget network
6.Go to Settings > general > reset > reset network settings
7.Power the phone off and on. Connect again

It's important that you have a steady WiFi connection, ZealousEdge. What phone do you have? Is your phone unable to connect to any WiFi network? If you can, please try deleting the saved WiFi network and re-adding it.

but when I tried the solution given there , It is not working
the error I am getting is mofcomp is not recognized as internal or external command
    I tried in  C:\program files\Microsoft sql server\90\shared  and in Windows\system32
I am getting the same error

    Hi sql393,
Cannot connect to WMI provider. You do not have permission or the server is unreachable. Note that you can only manage SQL Server 2005 servers with SQL Server Configuration Manager. Invalid class [0x80041010].
The solution is to go to a command prompt and then run mofcomp.
     C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared>mofcomp "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"

  • Iphone 3GS "cannot connect to data network"

Ever since I updated to the new operating system, my phone (3GS) hasn't worked properly. Sometimes with 3 or even 4 bars of 3G I cannot make phone calls or send text messages or use the browser. I feel like I've tried everything; I have: restored it, restarted it, reset network settings. I receive the "cannot connect to data network" very often, extremely frustrating. If anyone has any fixing advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, there may be a problem with the SIM card. Contact your carrier which should be Rogers with a 3GS, and request a new SIM card.

  • Cannot get a home network functioning with new bth...

As a relatively new BT infinity customer I simply cannot get a home network up and running...
I have one PC which is hard-wired into the router and two laptops, all running windows 7.  I have discovered from this forum that BThomehubs don't like Windows own homegroup utility so I need to ensure that all devices are on the same workgroup.  OK, done.
Every sharing option is checked and even my printer properties are slected to share all.  The printer is wired via USB into the main PC.  I can 'see' my laptops from the PC and vice versa through windoes explorer but can only access the laptops from the PC, not the other way around which is a pain for transferring files (one of the key reasons for haveing the network in the first place!)
My printer is an Epson all in one PX650 which worked quite happily when I was a Sky Boradband customer from all devices.  Now I can't even see it or seemingly add it to the network... in fact I'm not even sure I have a network in the truest sense.  This is too hard BT when your competitors made it so simple.
Any thoughts will be much appreciated...

but I cannot get a home page on the iPad.
Not sure what you mean by that. If you mean set a Starting page for Safari, then you can't. Safari will open up on the last page you browsed. If you close all tabs before exiting, it will jsut open to the gray screen. From there you can search using the google search at the top left of the address bar, or simply enter an address in the address bar.
    mtsue wrote:
I also cannot get my serial number to contact support.
This can be easily obtained by flipping the iPad over and looking at the fine text at the bottom of the backside.
The Serial number is printed there.
Alternatively going into Settings->Geneal->About will have the serial number in the list of things about the iPad.
If you are finding it difficult to navigate around the iPad, perhaps setting up an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store may be usefull. As they have Usage classes you can take.

  • TS1398 I did everything you are recommend to do and still cannot connect to the network. "Unable to join network" shows up even that is a university network working for other users - students and staff. I am very unhappy with my new iphone 5 :(

I did everything recommended on apple store support site and still cannot connect to the network with my new iphone 5 but my co-workers and students (I work for the university) can keep connectivity all the time. I am very unhappy with my new phone

Be patient, Apple is coming out with a update soon, its been reported that they have sent the update to the carriers to test, which means it will be soon. And is suppose to address this issue.
