The Other Network option is so you can connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot that might have its name hidden.  Other Network gives you the oppertunity to type the name of the hidden Wi-Fi hotspot so the iPad can see it.
If you are looking for a Wi-Fi hotspot to join, but can not because you do not have the password to join that network, you will need to ask the hotspot's owner for permission and a password before you can join.
If you have internet in your house and you want to connect your iPad Mini to the internet, you will need a wireless router or access point.  Ask your internet provider, they may already have that available for you and it would be a quick setup for them.

    You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
    You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

    Absolutely not true. There is no difference, spec wise, between the iPhone sold in Japan & the GSM iPhone sold everywhere else. iPhones in Japan use UMTS 2100.

    Try:                                               
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on           
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable              
    - Try on another computer                                                       
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • ITunes cannot connect to Internet and iPad backup takes Forever

    Hi, I have a workstation, high end Windows 7, PC, everything works perfect except the iTunes.. here's my story:
    iTunes cannot connect to internet, nor can iTunes Store. I tried "Run Diagnostics" from Help menu, it showed "internet connection verified" green light BUT "Secure link to iTunes Store Failed" Red Light.
    Then I thought, lets check other Apple App, Safari.. which couldn't load google for a long time and didn't even show any error, anyway, so I quit and uninstalled it.
    I connected iPad for backup, it started all fine. At "Step 2 of 7" backing up, the loading/copying bar came half way up and stayed there for more than 20 hours. So, I quit that too. (Maybe, this is a different problem or connected, im not sure.)
    I also checked the setting in Norton Firewall and made sure iTunes was allowed full access. Internet is working perfect in all the other applications, even "Apple Software Update" is working fine, checking for updates and everything. I have latest version of iTunes by the way.
    THEN, I uninstalled everything Apple, left no trace of Apple in Program Files, and reinstalled iTunes. STILL SAME PROBLEM!!! Can anybody help? What could've happened, 'coz it used to work just fine before.

    Okay so I was on face time when suddenly for the first time my ipad mini froze so I held down the home and off button like anyone else would do. Then when it turned back on I went back onto face time and it asked me to enter my username and password which I found a bit weird so I did. It then said that the username or password I entered was incorrect so I did it again it said the same thing. So I went on the App Store downloaded an app and it asked me to enter my password I did and it worked fine. Went back to enter my username and password for FaceTime and it said it again so I changed my password tried it again it still said it was incorrect. Then I tried it on my iPod and it works fine my question is why is my FaceTime and iMessages suddenly not working but my App Store and everything else works fine I use Face time all the time and I really need it can anyone help me because I don't know what to do

    Try configuring the printer. You can usually access the printer setup menu by clicking Print on a web page, then click "Properties" when your printer options appear.
    Set the page size to A4 in there and maybe choose other settings such as those I've ringed in red in the screenshot. This is my own printer.
    Unfortunately, I'm off on vacation from today and my flight departs in about 6 hrs time, so I won't be able to respond again until mid-July. But I'm sure one of the other guys will be able to takeover if your problem persists.

When I go to open firefox it opens but when I try to get into a website such as www.yahoo or any other, a menu pops up and says it is unable to connect to the server check your internet connection or if u have fire wall check to see if it is set for firefox to connect. I have never had this problem before. All of a sudden it does not want to work and I need firefox to work.

    They are telling you what the problem is; your payment method has been declined. They will not tell you specifically what apps you still owe for, but that's rather irrelevant.
    If I went to my bank would thy be able to tell me what's wrong or will I need to contact Apple?
    It depends on what the problem is. First, make sure that you're using one of the accepted cards. If you're sure you are, then I again would suggest you contact your credit card company, tell them that an on-line merchant is declining your card, and ask for assistance. If the credit card company can't or won't help, you can try contacting the iTunes Store, but my guess is that they'll tell you the same thing I'm telling you; contact your credit card company or try a different card.     Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Like is it turned on? is wi-fi turned on? is it all wi-fi networks or just your home one? have you gone into wi-fi & tapped on the network you want to join? what happens when you do that? does it ask for a password? does it put a tick next to the network name? does it give an error message?
    These are the basics you should be including in a question like this, otherwise no-one will bother even trying to help with such a vague request

    For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update.     I have a Macbook Pro 2010 OS X 10.8.3.  I cannot connect to internet via wifi (Air por).  My Macbook Pro does not recognize my network and when I select it from the list of network it asks for my network password.  when I type in my password a dialog box gives me timeout error.  Please could anyone help me.  I am using ethernet for my connection at the moment.  Do I need to reset my macbookpro?  if yes, what will happen to my applications and operating system (mountain lion)?
