turn off internet parental controls or log in as the administrator. I have CA security suite and this did the trick for me. don't know what changed between the old itunes and 9 but it made a difference.

Cannot connect to istore or iTunes . I'm in uae. It used to work before. Issue not related to any updates I'm sure. Please let know

Well I'm searching for a answer but I must ask it seems a bit weird to have ios 6.1.1 come out and the next day ios 6.1.2, the best that can be done is (you will need a computer) is to get ios 6.1 update back on your device, I have already done this and I'm able to get apps again, now I'm wait for a new update to fix this one, that is the best that can be done for right now

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    or here:

  • ITunes 8 - Cannot connect to iStore - "network connection time out"

I've been running V7 with no problems. Updated to 8 (due wanting to use ipod Touch). Cannot connect to the iStore (everything else works fine). Receive the following message "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out."
I've read other posts and tried the various suggestions i.e. switching off Norton, flushing the DNS etc. but still have the problem. Just de-installed iTunes and re-installed but still the same problem.
Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong ?
    Any help much appreciated.

P.S. My internet connection is working fine.

    Hi,
I've run through the suggestions. The internet setting were ok, deleted itunes.exe in the Norton Internet Security firewall settings and attempted to add it back BUT it will not for whatever reason. Below is the diagnostics as requested.
I don't understand why v7 worked from day 1 and I had no problems, installed v8 and all these problems arise, there is someting wrong somewhere.

  • ITunes cannot connect to iStore - Windows XP Pro

I am attempting to 'Authorize' my new laptop (running Windows XP Pro) and when I click 'authorize computer' and then enter my login info, I get "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again". I have IE Browsers open and I am able to go to www.apple.com, but I just can't connect from iTunes. There is no problem with my internet connection.
At this point, I can't play 1/2 of my music as I can't authorize this computer.
    Please help.
I know there is an issue with Windows Vista but I am running Windows XP Pro, which has never had a problem before.
Thank you for your prompt reply.....

VNC must be installed on the PC if you want to control/observe the comptuer from Apple's Remote Desktop application.
Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection for Mac is for connecting to any PC that has Remote Desktops turned on. If you haven't purchased Apple Remote Desktop, then MS's RDC is what you want. For questions with RDC I suggest you post them on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac RDC client:

  • ITunes starting up and connecting to iStore on its own...?

As subject describes, iTunes is starting up on its own.
I was offline just now and got the message 'iTunes cannot connect to iStore..'. I wasn't even using the computer at the time.
I have no auto updates enabled, or anything else that might require iTunes to start itself and get online automatically. Ping is set to OFF on my iTunes account.
Can anyone advise what is going on here please??
    cheers,

  • Cannot Connect To Itunes store Please

So for about a week now it keeps saying "itunes cannot connect to the itunes store, please make sure your connection is active". Im pretty sure its active or i wouldnt be typing this. I turned my firewalls off and added itunes to all of them. Any one know whats wrong?

I was having the same issue until today, after uninstalling and installing iTunes so many times over the past few days I finally decided to delete itunes and all it's components as per the instructions on this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925, after a reboot I then reinstalled an older version of iTunes(9.0.2). At first I still got the same message, then I went to the Help menu on iTunes and checked for updates. After the updates were reinstalled I regained my connection to the iStore.

I have the same problem PLUS I get the "Genius is temporarily unable to show you related music..." whenever I select a song. This occurs even when I log in as Administrator. Updating to 8.0.1 did not fix either problem.
I can access the iTunes Store and download music. Genius had no problems uploading my iTunes Library info, and it can create playlists for selected songs. I believe this rules out communications and authorization problems. I have a G4 Mac Mini, a G5 PowerPC, and an Intel iMac with the same problem, so it's unlikely to be a Mac hardware issue. A firewall problem was unlikely (since I can access the iTunes Store), but I tested this with the firewall off. Both problems still remained. Updating Genius, turning Genius off and then on again, reinstalling iTunes 8, updating to 10.5.5, etc. did not work.
The only unusual factor is that I have HughesNet satellite 'broadband.' I cannot see how that would matter, but perhaps the individual song iTunes Store and Genius features don't get along with something in my HughesNet 'modem.' Any ideas from other users?

  • Macbook Pro Cannot Connect to SMTP

I am running a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8.  I use Mac Mail app to send and receive e-mail.  Since Thursday 27th Dec 2012 I have been unable to send e-mail.  I get the grey spinning wheel until the following error message appears:
The SMTP connection to server “mail.(mydomain).co.uk” failed.
My outgoing mail server is currently showing as offline.  In fact I have 2 e-mail accounts and both are showing as offline.  No problem receiving mail.  Connection doctor connects fine to incoming mail, but not outgoing.
I have tried the following (plus other things) without any success:
Checked all the details, passwords etc
Changed ports from 25 to 465 and 587
Checked my IP address - it is not blacklisted
    Removed and re-added e-mail account
Telnet port 25 - it is not blocked, but appeared to successfully connect (from what I understood from checking www)
    Temporarily disabled firewall
    Re-installed Mac app
    Rebuilt mailbox
    Repaired disk permissions
    Used the repair disk utility
Deselected SSL and changed various options within "Edit SMTP server list"
    Reset the keychain
Tried updating software but it says no update available.
Re-instated an old Accounts.plist (and one other file which I forget, something like com.apple.mail) from time capsule.
I then set up a hotmail account on Mail app but had exactly the same problem, ie cannot connect with SMTP server.
However, I set up my e-mail account on my wife's iPad with the same details and there was no problem at all, e-mail sent just fine as it does from my iPhone.  So the issue has to be with my Macbook, right?  Can anyone help before I go and spent £1250 on a new Macbook?  I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app.  I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send.  I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success.  Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem.  As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work.  So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.
