Cannot connect to iTunes on Windows 8

I have the 1st generation Apple TV and cannot connect to iTunes 11.02.  I have a new computer running Windows 8.  I tried turning off the Firewall on the computer and rebooting but Apple TV fails to show up in Preferences.../Devices when I select Connect to iTunes from the Apple TV.  The File/Devices menu items are all grayed out.  I've read that on windows 7 some have tried turning off IPv6 but have not tried or want to do this.

Ipod classic 160GB very slow sync and cannot connect to itunes store windows 7 ansd itunes 10.6.0.40. I have now been trying for 3 weeks to restore my iPod. Really frustrated, any ideas would be welcome.

Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.

I'm having the exact same problem although I have Windows XP.  I submitted an email to iTunes Support, but the auto response I got indicated that I would have to wait up to 48 hours for a response.  I'm pretty annoyed by that.  I can't believe there isn't a phone number I can call for help.  Someone just told me that if I had a protection plan I could call, but as much money as I spend on iTunes already........

  • TS1702 How to get rid of "Cannot connect to iTunes store" pop-up window

My iPad is showing a pop-up window that says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". I cannot restart my iPad because I can't get the pop-up to disappear... and I cannot slide the power off option because it's blocked by the "Cannot Connect" popup.
When I press the OK button in the pop-up window, it flickers, but does not accept the command.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

  • Itunes cannot connect to iTunes store error 306

Hi, I think I originally posted this on the wrong forum. So I will repost and hope for the best.
Up until recently I used to connect to the internet via airport and everything worked fine. I could connect to iTunes store no problem.
The connection was all set up by the local phone company and somehow they connected the iMac to airport via a modem.
I know that this appears to defeat the point of airport but it worked fine.
I had connection problems with the modem (it was old and needed replaced) that was attached to the airport and iMac. I arranged for the telephone company to come and replace the modem. However, although they replaced the modem and the internet connection is fine.
What they did not do was to reconnect the Airport device and now I cannot connect with iTunes store. Now instead of connecting to the internet via the Airport connection I now connect via Ethernet
The error message I get is
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error occured (306).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
I think that if someone could advise how I stop trying to connect to the iTunes store via Airport but via an Ethernet connection

iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings  ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 ) and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
    To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
    Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
    Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Parental Controls tab.
    Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.

  • "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" & "iTunes store temporarily unavailable"

    PROBLEM:
Our iPhones, iPad, and iPod Touches all give us "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" message when we try to purchase an App or update Apps using Apple's "App Store" App. When using iTunes on our MAC desktop, which is used to sync all our devices, I'd select "Check for available downloads" from the Store Menu and would recieve the error message "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please check back later." All our devices and software were up to date. We had not upgraded to iCloud yet, allthough I don't think that matters.
    Note:
    - We were able to purchase songs on iTunes and access our iTunes account so we had access to iTunes Store, despite the misleading error messages. We just couldn't get the Apps to download or update.
    - This happened whether I was on my iPhone using our password protected WiFi, the non-password protected WiFi at the local Apple Store, as well as when I turned WiFi off and used 3G.
I spent hours trying every solution offered on these discussion boards as well as an on non-Apple sites to no avail. I went to the local Apple store and after an hour and a half wait had someone at the Genius Bar check it out and say he couldn't fix it. I emailed Apple Help on this website and received a boilerplate reply pointing to 2 KBs that I'd already tried (support.apple.com/kb/TS1368) and (support.apple.com/kb/TS1398). When I replied I tried all that, and still needed help they pointed me to Apple Care. My husband called Apple Care who wouldn't talk to us because supposedly you can only purchase it during a window of time after buying your new device. Our iPad is the youngest at only 4 months old, so I don't know how that can be. Maybe he didn't want to pay for it just yet. I was ready to chuck these into the trash until my husband figured it out.
So... if you're experiencing the same error messages, here was our fix. In hindsight it's so simple I can't believe it.
    SOLUTION:
Went to the MAC desktop that we use to sync and update all our devices. In iTunes in the left hand column under "Store" click Download. The app at the top of the queue was "stuck" (similar to a printer that won't print because of a problem with the first job in the queue). Click the first App in the queue to get it downloading. That's it!
Once they all chug through then you can start updating apps on your devices using the App Store app. Relief!
I hope this helps someone because it was a frustrating experience!

I had this exact issue.  However, I was not even able to "see" the pending downloads when I tried fixing them using the solution above.
In another thread, I saw that someone mentioned an issue with the use of the "&" (ampersand) symbol in your appleID information.  I had recently changed my name and it did include the & symbol in my name (not the appleID itself).  I replaced the ampersand with the word "and" and saved.  I then went to the iTunes store and logged into my account there and made the same change on my billing name.
Voila!  I could now access the 7 pending downloads on my desktop Mac and download them, and all iPhone/iPad/Ipods were again able to download from the app store.
incidentally, I had several support tickets open on this issue and never once did the Apple person even suggest that this might be the issue.

  • ITunes 9.2.0.61 cannot connect to iTunes Store

To make a long story short, I have been through the forums and tried everything to no avail. I was asked to update iTunes in order to update my iPhone to ver 4. This was 3 days ago and I still have not updated my iPhone. I have updated iTunes to the above and cannot connect to itunes store. I have tried the forums which seems to have improved things but it is still not working. I have access to the iTunes store from my laptop and iPhone (Wifi) When I run iTunes and try to access the store it says "iTunes could not Connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again"
If I go to the iTunes help tab and Run Diagnostics, the Network connectivity test passes and verifies all ok???????????????
I am not an IT guy but to my way of thinking, something is pointing iTunes to the wrong place when it wants to go to the store. I have spent enough time trying to fix my PC after apple broke it and would like to just upgrade my iPhone 3gS. I am waiting for an email from Apple since yesterday but would appreciate it if someone here could help me get this sorted.
Herewith the additional info that may be required as well as verification that I should be able to connect to iTunes store.

    I would really try this...
Edit > Preferences > Parental Control and check iTunes Store, Allow access to iTunes U and click OK. Try going to the store. Then go back to Preferences and uncheck iTunes Store
    or the LAN settings..
After sitting at my computer for HOURS on Wednesday trying almost everything everyone suggested... I logged back into my PC Thursday & somehow my iTunes store was connected. I have absolutely no idea what I did. Point is you should probably try those, turn it off then turn it back on & see if that helps. I really wish I could help. I know exactly how much of a pain this entire issue can be.. Good luck!
