Cannot connect to iTunes Store after Upgrade to 7.6.1.9

Ever since I upgraded to the newest version, I can no longer connect to the iTunes store or the update server. Yes its a d@mn dialup connection, but you think it wouldn't matter to iTunes.
I've tried thru the Bellsouth Accelerator and straight shot out.
Here's the diagnostic log:

Turn off all your firewalls, software accelerators, security software like Norton/McAfee/Zone Alarm/NOD/Kapersky/etc, even the Windows firewall.
An iTunes upgrade is actually an uninstall of itunes & quicktime, then a reinstall of the new versions.
Those items I mentioned all see iTunes as a new program and you have to set security to allow iTunes again. So if you temporarily turn them off and can connect to the sotre, you will know that's it.

  • Cannot Connect it iTunes store after upgrade

I STUPIDLY allowed the iTunes upgrade to install today. Now I cannot connect to the iTunes store. I have completely shut off the Norton Firewall. Get this... I run the iTunes diagnostic tool (Help.. run diagnostics) and it tells me everything's connecting fine:
I ran the diagnostics. It says all the connections are good but I still cannot connect to the iTunes store after I upgraded. I have completely shut off my firewall.

After several hours of searching in the forums and trouble-shooting I ended up on Norton chat support. They suggested I uninstall and reinstall Norton 360, and even gave me a free upgrade from v1.0 to v2.0 Inbetween removal of the v1.0 and reinstallation, I tried iTunes and was able to connect to the store. After installing v2.0 I can still connect so I'm running again for awhile.... .until the next update. Other people running Norton have had similar problems and Norton updates fixed it.
I still can't run the exact same iTunes library on my Vista laptop because artwork makes iTunes crash. An early 7.x update caused this and I had to move everything to my desktop with XP.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes Store after upgrading to iTunes 10.4

    Hi, i'm using MAC OS X 10.6.8
After I upgrading the iTunes to version 10.4 yesterday
itunes cannot connect to the itunes store anymore
    and it would keep connecting
i can't even cancel the connection...
now i can't do anything with my itunes....

I also updated my Mac OS X to version 10.6.8 a few hours ago as well and I upgraded my iTunes to the latest version, but now I can't connect to the store AND iTunes can't detect my iPhone 4! Not only that, but my iPod nano can't make a connection either. So I don't have any means to backup my files or sync my iPhone and iPod to my Mac and vice versa. In my case though, the iTunes Store doesn't even tell me that it's connecting at all, the page just says, "iTunes Store" just like when I don't have an internet connection, but the fact is, I do have internet, so why is this happening? It's really giving me a hard time to solve this issue. Is iTunes 10.4 having a problem? Help will be greatly appreciated!

  • Cannot connect to iTunes store, after being hacked

A couple months ago, someone tried to hack my itunes account.  I was able to change the password and lock them out, before they changed the email address.  I changed all of my info back to what it should be, but ever since, I haven't been able to update any apps from my iphone.  I can't download new apps either.  I just get a message that says "Cannot connect to iTunes store."  I can, however, download apps, in itunes, on my PC (after having to reauthorize the PC).  Any ideas as to why I still can't download, or update, apps from my iphone?  I did check the "Can't connect to the iTunes Store" page and didn't find anything to help.  The iOS is up to date, and I do have wifi access.

Try here >  Can't connect to the iTunes Store
On the iPhone, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Restart your iPhone. Try connecting to the iTunes Store.

I was able to connect to the iTunes store before the upgrade but after going to iTunes 10 I have not been able to. Whats going on?
Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? Some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from connecting. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
Check the settings for your utility. If iTunes is still listed, remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes. Consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure. If you have Norton, you can find instructions for that utility on Symantec's web page for iTunes. You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot Connect to iTunes Store after 6.1.3 (10B329) update today

After updating both my iPad mini and iPhone 4s with the latest security update today neither my iPad or iPhone will purchase or update any iTunes app.
My wife has not updated her iPad and everything still works fine with iTunes
I've tried all the advice on the discussion pages , date changing, logging in and out, resets etc. same result "cannot connect to iTunes" arghhhhhhhhhh
    Please help .......

I saw a failed download in iTunes (iPad) and retried to download this song.
This went ok. Then back to the AppStore and whala it all works again.
Maybe it was an error with Apple, I don't know.

  • Can't connect to iTunes store after upgrade to iTunes 10.5

I've been trying to get this to work all day. I've done the whole uninstall in this order and reinstall several times to no avail. I've also tried the "netsh winsock reset" thing I saw on another question which also didn't work.
On top of this whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4g with it, it says that the iPod touch timed out so it couldn't sync (tried to sync several times).
Then I tried to upgrade to iOS 5 (also tried several times) but all I get is a frozen iTunes or the it hangs up on the backup phase. Can someone please help me solve this?!
This is all I get when trying to connect to iTunes store:
(Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit by the way)

I was having the same problem earlier today, and what I ultimately did to solve the issue was:
Completely uninstall iTunes 10.5 by following http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
Find my backup iTunes Library File (*.itl) from the previous version, and copy it to "iTunes Library.itl"
    See http://technicallyeasy.net/2009/03/restoring-a-previous-version-of-your-itunes-l ibrary/
Reinstall with the previous software, iTunes 10.4.1
The fact that the old 10.4.1 software works correctly in accessing the iTunes Store, and the new 10.5 software does not work correctly, suggests to me that there is some kind of bug in the iTunes 10.5 application itself. Hopefully the developers can figure it out. In the meantime, I'm happily working again on the previous version and will be planning to stay there until this mess has been cleared up.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes Store after iOS installed on iPad wifi 3rd generation

My iPad 3rd generation was just updated to iOS yesterday without any problems. I can use the Internet and the wifi network just fine.
But, I am unable to access the iTunes store no matter what I have done. I reset the router / modem. I am really ****** that this has happened. At home there are no problems. There is nothing that I have done that caused this as far as I can tell. I took my Apple ID off and then put it back on the iTunes & App Store a number of times. Nothing works. It keeps asking me to Sign In and then it says I can't

    Hey tpolevoy,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you can't connect to iTunes store on the iOS device. A frustrating situation for sure. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Cannot connect to iTunes store after software restore

    Hello, all,
Last week I took my iMac in to the Apple Store to have its internal hard drive replaced. After retrieving the computer, I did a restore off of my Time Machine backup. The restore went smoothly...except that I now cannot do iCloud-related things, particularly iTunes.
--When I launch iTunes, I get a series of error dialogues, advising that the computer does not recognize various certificates (an example would be "buy.itunes.apple.com"); each of these errors advise me that my personal information could be at risk.
--The iTunes Store storefront is blank, though in the title bar I do see my account name.
--When I navigate to iCloud in my browser, Safari informs me that it cannot recognize the iCloud certificate.
--Attempting to sync my iPhone via cable connection, iTunes advises me that the computer is not authorized to share applications downloaded by [my iPhone]. Clicking to authorize yields "We could not complete your iTunes Store request" unknown error dialogues. Other parts of the sync do not complete successfully.
--I cannot connect to the Apple App Store.
Other standard internet functions are working correctly.
I attempted to log out and log back in to iCloud, but logging out failed. "Could not log out of your account at this time." Prior to getting that error, the OS asked me if I wanted local copies of my iCloud [contacts, calendars, notes] kept on my computer. I indicated that, no, I didn't want local copies...despite not logging off successfully all my iCloud information is still gone from the computer.
All content is, however, intact on my iPhone. iPhoto appears to be working fine, on brief inspection, and I have successfully downloaded images off of my iPhone (via cable).
Looking for guidance; is there a plist file I should delete, for example?
    System information:
    --Early 2008 iMac
    --OS X 10.8.3
    --iTunes 11.0.4
--iTunes library hosted on an external HDD
Thanks for any help you can provide!

OK, I've worked it out with the Apple support team, and it was a real doozie. Don't know if anyone else has ever encountered this, but none of the people I spoke with had ever seen it (level 1 support, level 2 support, plus whoever it would be that advises level 2). It was not the authentication problem.
Somehow or other, the central certificates that are part of the OS that recognize Apple services became invalid, or at least the system THOUGHT they were invalid. With the guidance of Apple support, I examined the system certificates via Keychain Access, identified those that were marked invalid, and set them to "always trust." That still didn't work. We removed variuos plists and configurations, hoping that reboots would cause these files to be recreated new...that didn't work.
No Apple services worked: not iCloud, not iTunes, not App Store, not even the remote access program that Apple support had me download to enable screen sharing. All of them gave some version of "cannot verify the identity of the server [something].apple.com.
In the end I had to wipe everything clean and reinstall again from a Time Machine backup. At the suggestion of Apple support, I did not use the most recent backup, but rather one that predated the initial issue that brought about the HDD replacement; it was about a week old. Except for a couple of files that rolled back to earlier versions, everything now works.
Don't know if this had anything to do with anything, but here are some minor things that I noticed:
    (1) My Time Machine backups were all for OS X 10.8.4. The Apple Store team that installed my new HDD installed 10.8.3. The mechanism for importing user accounts from external sources (such as my Time Machine backup) indicated a copy, not necessarily a recovery. I would believe it if you told me that there were changes to security settings between 10.8.3 and 10.8.4
    (2) There were two different mechanisms I used in the two different restores. As I mentioned above, when I did my initial restore it may have been just an import of user accounts and applications -- this was part of the first-time launch of the freshly-installed 10.8.3 OS, the part we've probably all seen where we're invited to do just that. The second time, however, was via the Recovery Partition: that tool is much more direct and offers more options. For one, it recognized all of the different versions of my system in my Time Machine backup, and gave me these options with date and OS listed. This option was not available via the first method.
So, given that no one at Apple seemed to know how this happened, it may very well be that no one reading this may ever see this happen to them. But the lesson I've taken from this is to utilize the Recovery Partition rather than the import function.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes store after DL of iTunes 10.5

I have Downloaded the new Itunes 10.5 and it keeps telling me that it cannot connect to the iTunes store.  I have a internet connection and re downloaded iTunes and it asked if I wanted to repair and I chose yes, but I am till having the same issues.

I had the same issue and resolved it like this:
    1. Downloaded the latest version of ITunes to a temp folder.
    2. Disconnected my cable modem from the Internet (for security sake).
    3. Uninstalled ITunes, Quick Time and my Norton anti-virus software.
    4. Restarted my computer.
    5. Reinstalled ITunes and Quick Time (which of course is actually bundled with ITunes).
    6. Reinstalled my Norton software.
    7. Restarted the computer.
    8. Reconnected my cable modem.
Once I did all this, everything worked again. What a pain in the a** this all was. Bottom line, it looks like the 7.6 "upgrade" does not take if you have certain security software installed. It would really be nice of Apple to at least generate an error message to that effect.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes Store after iOS7 update??

So after the iOS7 update i am unable to connect to the iTunes Store on my  iphone 5. I have tried signing out and back into the store with password, I did a restatrt on the phone power botton and home button at same time until it shuts off and still does not work. I know people are having this problem but most seem to be able to log in once signng out and back in. Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Ok this is how I fixed this. Apparently iTunes uses Safari.
Go to Settings -> Safari -> and Clear Cookies and Data and also Clear History - scroll down to see those settings.
Set Block Cookies to either "from third parties and advertisers" or "Never" (you choose which one)
In Advanced (scroll down its the last setting) make sure JavaScript in ON
Here is the last step I had to make to fix it - which may not apply to you. Some time ago I changed my primary email for apple. I noticed it was asking me to enter the password for the secondary email.
I went into iTunes and App Store, tapped my Apple Id and then Sign Out. I then resigned in using my primary Apple email and password.
Just to make sure, I turned the phone off and on, but honestly this may be optional.
    I am now working again.
    I hope this helps you.
