Cannot connect to iTunes Store. Unknown error -9813
Doers anyone know what this means when I try to connect to the iTunes store?
I have a PC with windows as well and can cnnect to my itunes store from windows with no issues, but on this Mac, i have never been able to connect to the itune store as I get the above error. I have full access to internet.
Is this a firewall issue or something in my system tat is stopping it from login in to the iTunes store?
Hlelp is much appreciated.
It means 'cert chain not verified by root', I'm guessing it's something to do with the security certificate the iTMS uses. A first step might be verifying/resetting your keychain. Have a look here for more information on Keychain First Aid.
It could be a firewall issue, but from memory, the built-in firewall that ships with Mac OS has the relevant port open by default. Have you got a third-party firewall? If so, throw caution to the wind briefly and turn it off, then try connecting to the iTMS. If this works, have a look at the vendor's website and see if they have instructions on how to configure your firewall to allow access to the Store. Also, according to an Apple article, if you've recently switched ISPs without installing new network software, that might be the problem, in which case contact your ISP to see if they can help.
Good luck!

Cannot connect to iTunes store unknown error(0x80090318)
cannot connect to iTunes store unknown error(0x80090318)
This solved my problem; maybe it would fix yours too: Uninstall iTunes 11 and all the applications that were installed with it. Afterwards, install iTunes 10 instead.
Make sure to delete the library folder created by iTunes 11 in C:\Users\[username]\My Music\iTunes before launching the older versions of iTunes. Otherwise you would receive an error indicating that the programme cannot start. -
Cant connect to itunes store. unknown error -9813
i have an itunes account and cannot log on, it continues to give me this message. itunes could not connect to the itunes store. An unknown error occured (-9813). It has nothing to do with the network because me and my roomate use the same one and it works fine on his computer.
You could try to solve the problem by repairing the Keychains.
Run Keychain Access (./Applications/Utilities), choose 'Keychain First Aid' from the Keychain Access menu, click 'Repair' and 'Start'. If that fails, go to the Keychain preferences>General and click 'Reset My Keychain'
Reading other posts the above does not often seem to work.
More successful is replacing the involved files by the same ones from another computer.
If your roommate also has a Mac, copy the 'X509Anchors' and 'X509Certificates' files from ./System/Library/Keychains from his/her computer to your computer.
If not available, try to locate another Mac and ask the user to donate the files.
If this trick doesn't work either, do an Archive and Install. This will cost you some time and it may be necessary to re-install some non-Apple applications, but will (almost) certainly fix the problem.
Hope this helps.

Cannot Connect to iTunes Store Unknown Error (-3212)
I've been trying all the help suggestions on the support page and nothing has worked. I even uninstalled iTunes and the installed the latest version. The only thing I haven't tried is letting my IPS know about the compatibility file because I don't know what that is. Can you help me please.
Problems connecting to the iTunes Store often stem from issues with the Windows firewall or a firewall in a router, a privacy filter (such as McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet Security), an antivirus/antispyware utility, or a download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes Store Connection Troubleshooting
iTunes for Windows: Connection Issues when using Internet Filters, Accelerators, or Firewalls
Tunes for Windows could not establish a secure connection to the iTunes Store
iTunes for Windows: Possible iTunes Store Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. What you may need to do is temporarily disable any such service and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect to the iTunes Store.
Hope this helps. -
help me...
Hi ashraf_8900,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know that it can be frustrating when you cannot open iTunes or sign in with your Apple ID. There may be a few different troubleshooting steps I would recommend. I would first recommend that you completely uninstall iTunes and all of its related components in the correct order, however. Please use the attached article for information and instructions on removing iTunes from your computer. Once removed as described in the steps below, please install fresh and test. If the issue continues, please let me know.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Steps
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then restart your computer.
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects.
Happy holidays,

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

Cannot Connect to Music Store Unknown Error -3221
Please help me. I subscribed to ITunes specifically because I pre-ordered the Depeche Mode CD. And now that I am trying to download/upload(?) through the advanced / pre-orders I keep getting an error message stating "Cannot connect to music store. An unkown error occurred -3221. Make sure you rnetwork connection is active and try again."
I have been reading the fixes online and tried the overnight test. I tried adding the site to my pop-up blocker... NOW WHAT? I cannot access the music store at all (for the past 3 days that I have been trying). I pretty much just want a refund for my CD that I cannot download. BTW - in between my purchase and my attempts to access the music store I was forced to "upgrade to 6"... so is that where the problem lies? I also called the support phone number on the "contact us" link and no one on the telephone can help. I AM SO FRUSTRATED! Please make this better! I am on Windows XP.hi Cheryl!

Cannot connect to itunes store -- network error
For over a week now I get a network connection error every time I try to use iTunes store, and when using Safari it no longer loads pages, says I'm not connected to the network. However the network is working fine and I'm able to connect to the internet using Firefox, iChat, and other software. I tried restarting my computer, reinstalling iTunes, everything I could think of and no luck.
I posted this thread which may help you. There were SOOOO many people asking the same thing in different posts that I just posted my own. Hope it helps!

Itunes cannot connect to iTunes store error 306
Hi, I think I originally posted this on the wrong forum. So I will repost and hope for the best.
Up until recently I used to connect to the internet via airport and everything worked fine. I could connect to iTunes store no problem.
The connection was all set up by the local phone company and somehow they connected the iMac to airport via a modem.
I know that this appears to defeat the point of airport but it worked fine.
I had connection problems with the modem (it was old and needed replaced) that was attached to the airport and iMac. I arranged for the telephone company to come and replace the modem. However, although they replaced the modem and the internet connection is fine.
What they did not do was to reconnect the Airport device and now I cannot connect with iTunes store. Now instead of connecting to the internet via the Airport connection I now connect via Ethernet
The error message I get is
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error occured (306).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
I think that if someone could advise how I stop trying to connect to the iTunes store via Airport but via an Ethernet connection
iMac intel Mac OS X (10.6.6)iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 ) and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
Click the Advanced tab.
Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
Open iTunes.
Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
Click the Parental Controls tab.
Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.
For more information on parental controls or content filtering software, see iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store.

I am a fairly new apple user, just got the new ipad, as part of an evaluation program. I recently did an iOS update and now keep getting the error message:cannot connect to iTunes Store... I tried date changing - no good ... The only thing that worked was to change the DNS setting to 0.0.0.0 as described in another thread. This fix for a day and now still getting the same error message and DNS setting changes do nothing. I have tried the reset method several times to no avail. I'm beginning tho think the ipad wasn't a great idea.... Apple need to attend to this. Like many, I have already wasted too much time looking for a fix. I am part of an IT in education group that will soon be recommending a specific hardware and OS. Could result in the loss of thousands of ipad sales for apple ....
Anyhow... All or any suggestions are welcome :)Also, I've just learned that I can connect to download new apps, but cannot update any apps I've downloaded in the past. How might I go about connecting my reset apple ID with its history from before it was reset? I assume that is the biggest issue.
