Cannot Connect to Itunes? Try this solution!
After a lot of uninstall reinstall.. Unticking the use proxy server in lan setting.. changing the parental control.. Turning off firewall.. Turning of antivirus.. All of it did not work for me..
But one thing worked.. Run CMD and type netsh winsock reset .. That solved my problem..
Hopefully this will work for you as well..
By the way before I found out that I cannot connect to Itunes. I am having a problem backing up my Ipod Touch 4G.. When syncing it does not stop backing UP.. so if you have problems backing up try also typing in CMD the above solution..

My 3GS will not let me login to iTunes or App store. It says "cannot connect to iTunes store".
In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
Click "Deuthorize ALL"
Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer. If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first. -

This happens if
iPhone was hacked and iOS modified. And/or
Computer was used for hacking this or any other iDevice.
Check Hosts file, if it has any entry gs.apple.com. Put # in front of the entry. Reboot and try Restore.
Restore on another computer which has clean Hosts file. -
I guess to be more specific. I'm signed into iTunes, I can play my usual games,online included. What it won't allow me to do now is update or download new apps. Just says waiting and never goes. I shut the iPad down and restart it, and a message will pop up saying all the game names cannot update at this time , blah blah blah.... What's going on and how do I fix this?

Go to Settings>General>Date & Time and change the date to a few months in the future and then re-try. -

Thanks schan20, this worked perfect. I closed all apps, double tapping home key from home screen, turned set date and time automatically off, clicked set daate and time, changed year to 2014. I then opened updates on apps and got the security message, went back to set date and time, turned on set automatically, opened app store back up (did not force close after security message) , got to loading and had 21 apps to update
Not sure what caused this initially; but some things I had done in the past were, I had set date and time auto off, I had changed the date and time numerous times in a row for the game deer hunter reloaded to get gold, most of the time stopping around August each time. Other than that, I have not made any major changes or added any apps when it stopped working. -

This problem has been plaguing me for weeks. All other solutions had no effect. Putting forward the date by two years then gave an error message in the app store that my username could not be verified by a secure server, please reset date and time. I then set the date and time back to auto and was then able to reconcet to updates as before. Thanks very much to whoever figured this out

This started happening when I had to change my apple user id to an email address. This is what has been causing problems with others. I called apple tech support & received help fixing it before, but it didn't permanently correct the problems. I had to go through all these steps that took over 45 minutes. Devices show 'Cannot connect to itunes store' when try to purchase via device. However able to purchase via computer therefore password is correct. I purchased a rental film yesterday via ipad so this has just occured today. I've tried rebooting both devices and re sincing with itunes, but the problem remains. I back up via computer not icloud if this makes a difference, which it shouldn't. Any ideas??
I had this exact issue. However, I was not even able to "see" the pending downloads when I tried fixing them using the solution above.
In another thread, I saw that someone mentioned an issue with the use of the "&" (ampersand) symbol in your appleID information. I had recently changed my name and it did include the & symbol in my name (not the appleID itself). I replaced the ampersand with the word "and" and saved. I then went to the iTunes store and logged into my account there and made the same change on my billing name.
Voila! I could now access the 7 pending downloads on my desktop Mac and download them, and all iPhone/iPad/Ipods were again able to download from the app store.
incidentally, I had several support tickets open on this issue and never once did the Apple person even suggest that this might be the issue. -
My iPad won't let me sign into my Apple ID when I try and download an app it asks for my id and password and when i type it in the iPad displays a message saying cannot connect to iTunes Store. However when i do this on my phone it works perfectly. Even when i sign in and out.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so how can I fix this?Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it. So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID). If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections. -
I have no trouble viewing apps in the iTunes Store on my iPad. However, every time I try to install a new app, I get an error message after a while - cannot connect to iTunes Store. This issues cropped up two days ago on my new iPad. Please help...
