Cannot Connect to Netflix ATV-U31

Hello Everyone,
I have a 1 week old Apple tv and I was never able to watch netflix.
In the beginning i thought that it had something to do with the account I was using.
I made a new Netflix account and still nothing.
All other apps do work Youtube, pbs etc. Trailers in HD also work but takes some time to load.
I have tried everthing I think, Did a Reset, Restore, unplug everything for more than 5 mins tried with another account nothing works.
After RESET i can at least get to the point where it lets me sign in or sign up, after that i only get the ATV-U31 error.
The Most i have seen of Netflix before this error was the search screen an categories but never saw a tumbnail of whatsoever.
Any Help will be apreciated
Danny & Roxsen

Apple TV2 cannot connect to Netflix .. message on tv screen always say "Netflix currently unavailable.  Please try again later."   I have tried both wifi and ethernet connection but to no avail.  ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

    ..hi, Diesel.
..after resetting, and for the first time ever, ATV2 is able to access Netflix and that I was able to log in for the first time too!  It stayed on processing for the longest time getting in into Netflix.  However, the same message "Netflix is currently unavailable.  Try again later."  had reappeared on tv screen after.  Resetted and restarted ATV2 again but the same message had reappeared.

  • HT1430 i cannot connect to netflix i receive a message saying something about airplay incompatible

i am not able to connect to netflix, using my HDMI cord.   Before I the IOS download I was able to now I cannot.   I get some message re: airplay.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    Then try Netflix.

  • Apple TV unable to connect to Netflix (ATV-ui31)

As of Friday, 9/13 (yes, Friday the 13th) my Apple TV started showing an error when connecting to Netflix.  More specifically, it occurs after selecting a user profile:
We're unable to connect you to Netflix. Please try again later. (ATV-ui31)
I've spent hours on the support line with both Netflix and my ISP, both of which indicated it was a problem with my Apple TV unit.  I've tried logging out and in of Netflix, restarting the Apple TV by unplugging the power and waiting for 30 seconds, restoring the unit to factory settings, and the same for my router - nothing worked.  My Netflix account is in good standing and can be accessed via the internet on a laptop, iPhone and iPad - just the Apple TV continues to give errors.  I've even tried logging into a separate/new Netflix account and STILL got the error.
I am very frustarted at the moment and am on the verge of tossing my Apple TV and getting a Roku player since our family, esp. my kids, rely on it to stream Netflix.
Any assistance, ideally from Apple direct, would be helpful.
    Thanks!

Forgive me if some of you see this post twice. I'm not sure how exactly all these text threads work...
This was the very first time I've ever posted in the Apple Discussion group.
I posted this a couple days ago in a different user's question. Hopefully it will help one of you too.
It seems to have helped quite a few of them.
This solved my questionRe: Netflix unavailable with (ATV-ui31) Error since 11/19/2013.

I just got off the phone with Netflix. The fix they gave me was to remove the & symbol in one of our sub accounts. I removed the & and its working just fine now. Hope it stays that way and this helps someone else!

  • Cannot connect to netflix

I've read a couple of responses to this and it always seems that rebooting AppleTV fixes the problem.  Well, I've done it twice and i still get the problem.  Can access youtube and other stuff via atv and netflix streams fine on my computer.  Any additional ideas?

I have the same problems. Try to sign on but says wrong id or password.

  • Cannot connect to netflix site.

    Hey there,
So up until 2 days ago my netflix would work fine, but now every time i type the adress in my url bar it will not load and just says "failed to open page" and ive tried every browser. I called netflix and they told me something about a VPN, i live in canada but when signing up i used an american zip code, but that cant be the problem because it was working fine before, plus my friends and family still have working acess to my account and they all live in canada. its only my macbook that wont load the site. If anyone has any idea what the problem is any help would be greatly appreciated, netflix sure as **** didnt know when i called them.
    Anyway thank you in advance!

    HaHaLooLoo,
I’m sorry — I missed that in your first post. Try this: press Command-Shift-U to open your Utilities folder, and open Terminal.app. In the Terminal window, give it the following command, pressing Return at the end:
    curl -S -i https://signup.netflix.com/
Do you get any output returned by this command?

  • Updated to iOS7 and no longer can connect to netflix

Upgraded to iOS7 and now cannot connect to Netflix.  Any fixes?

I too have issues with Netflix after the OS update.  I have "restarted" as you suggested and that does nothing to solve the issues.  It is slow to connect, it fails 9x out of 10 to make a connection, if it does connect it will drop out of play.  I link to Netflix directly thru its free app.  I am using Ipad 2.  This OS upgrade is awful.  Any connection to internet is slowed.

  • Connectivity to Netflix from FIOS to BluRay

    Okay folks,
Here's my issue. I cannot connect to Netflix on one of my Blu Ray players. It is a Sony BDP-BX59. Up until two weeks ago I had no problems connecting. Here's a list of what I have done thus far:
    1. I am able to connect to all other apps on this BluRay such as YouTube, Crackle, Pandora, etc. - Except Netflix.
    2. I bypassed the wireless and direct connected via patch cable from the Actiontech MI424WR Rev. I to the Blu Ray.
    3. I deactivated Netflix on all my devices.
    4. I recycled and unplugged power to the router.
    5. Reset the Blu Ray to the default factory settings.
    6. Changed the primary and secondary DNS per Sony/Netflix
    7. Purged the device no. and MAC address from the Blu Ray.
    8. BluRay firmware is up-to-date.
The message I get after launching the app is "we're unable to connect you to Netflix. Plese try again or visit www.netflix.com/tvhelp for guidance."
I have been on-line chat and on the telephone with both companies for hours to no avail so I thought someone here with modem/network experience could chime in.
    Here's the kicker -
    1. I have another BluRay Player, the Sony BDP-BX58 (earlier model generation) that I am able to connect and stream Netflix.
    2. I took the BluRay player in question to my relatives house who also uses Verizon FIOS and it connects without any issues.
Is there a firmware for the Actiontech that could solve this problem or something I can change in the router?
    Thanks for looking.

Thank you for the response. I believe I have found a temporary workaround and it is now connecting to Netflix. Until I find out more information as to the "why", and "how" this problem occured, I will refrain from publishing my findings.
If you post your workaround someone here might be able to help determine the "why" and how."

  • HT202157 Wwhen i go from cable tv to apple and click on netflix to stream, it tells me I cannot connect and tey again later. What can I do as it has been doing this for 2 weeks.

When I go from cable tv to apple and click on netflix it tells me that it cannot connect and to try later. What is the problem, it has been happening for 2 weeks?

Power cycle the ATV and router.

  • Cannot connect ATV 2.0 (factory restore) to wifi (tried all secure modes)

Restored ATV to v2.0. ATV sees the wireless network but cannot connect. Have attempted all types of encryption settings:
    1. WPA2-PSK: AES, TKIP and mixed mode
    2. WPA-PSK
    3. WEP 128bit, hex and ascii.
Using Buffalo Airstation WZR-HP-G300NH, firmware 1.74. Wireless was working fine at current version (3.x?) prior to factory restore using WPA2-PSK. I recall having these same issues on another router when I first got my ATV and finally had to revert to WEP 128bit 26 character hex code to get it to work. Unfortunately, that's not working with this router.
Ethernet plug is dead, so I can't connect it directly to the network.
    Any ideas?

Closing this as answered. Went into Apple, they pretty much confirmed that both the wifi and ethernet were dead. It was out of warranty so I just bought a new one.

  • Unable to connect to Netflix through Apple TV (ATV-ui62)

I can connect to Netflix through my iMac but unable to connect via ATV, any suggestions? I've done both hard and soft resets of ATV to no avail and rebooted router. I have a 3rd Generation ATV.

I have the same issue, but I'm not using a VPN. I can also watch netflix on my Macbook Pro or on my iPad Air. If I try to Airplay netflix from my iPad to the AppleTV (2d gen) it will pop up a message saying an error has occurred, I can though,  Airplay through my Macbook but only because I'm using the browser to stream the Netflix content.
Maybe it is the Geographical thing.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • User account cannot connect to Youtube or Netflix...

    Hey gang,
I upgraded my late 2008 Unibody Macbook Pro to Mountain Lion the other day and have had no problems.  My son has a user account on the machine and all seemed to work fine until he tried to load YouTube in both Chrome and Safari.  He cannot connect to the site.  I can in my Admin Account.  We also tried Netflix on his account and we get an error in both Chrome and Safari saying it cannot play DRM content.  Wha?  I updated Flash on his accout and several other websites work.  He is also unable to connect to the app store.  I removed all restrictions from his account and restarted.  Still no dice.
Seems like it must be a simple fix, but for the life of me I cannot figure it out.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks!

My wife's user account had the same problem with Netflix last night. It is working this morning and this is what I did.
"Hmmm, I wonder if Netflix gives me the same DRM issue in my account." Everything usually works in my account and that is the account I installed Mountain Lion from.
"Hey, it works. Okay, this is probably not the same problem Lion had with DRM in Safari and needed to be patched quickly by Apple. Let's see if I can get more information from Safari on my wife's account."
Log into wife's account and launch the same show on Netflix and it now loads and plays. Don't ask how or why, but it works. Perhaps doing the same from your account will also have a beneficial result.

  • HT4363 I just purchased an Apple TV MD199LL/A, got it connected to my internet.  I can go to Youtube and watch videos.  I'm able to access Netflix.  All seems well except I cannot connect to my iTunes account.  I have gone through the list - home sharing

I just purchased an Apple TV MD199LL/A, got it connected to my internet.  I can go to Youtube and watch videos.  I'm able to access Netflix.  All seems well except I cannot connect to my iTunes account.  I have gone through the list - home sharing is set correctly on both iTunes and my Apple TV.  The userid is correct on both.
Message "Loading prodrigu's library" and then "Could not connect to prodrigu's library".
I had this same problem when I installed the REMOTE application on my ipad.  Everything on the list was affirmative, but had the same problem not being able to connect to my iTunes.
What is missing?  Is there a firewall setting that could be causing this?

I don't mean to be facetious but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked.  To connect to your library you have to have the computer where the iTunes library is located running and with iTunes open.  It also needs to be on the same network.  My network is dual band and works with either stream but a friend of mine does not.  He has to set the computer and the Apple TV to the same band.  Hope this helps.

  • Windows Media Center Netflix Plug-In Cannot Connect

WMC (Vista Home Premium SP2) can no longer connect to Netflix via internet since FF4 install. Direct connection to Netflix via Silverlight still works outside of WMC. Microsoft no help.

    Thanks for the replies guys
@oook: Yep, there is absolutely no problem with the wired connection between the Xbox and the router.  As mentioned, everything works fine when the laptop also is wired, and the only change is that the leptop is now using wi-fi instead. The wifi connection itself is fine, as I can access the internet through it. There were no other devices on the network then, but there have been when trying since. Still no go unfortunately.
@greencross I haven't set up any port forwarding and media center extenders worked fine when the laptop was wired, but not on wifi.  I will try that tomorrow and see if it helps, but I would have thought if that was the issue it would block it from working when the laptop was wired as well as wireless. I have tried it with windows firewall and the router firewall turned off to no avail.
    Cheers for the advice.
