I cannot open Skype app in windows 8.1 start line-up. I am using HP laptop. For the last 1 year it was working awesome,but from today i cannot open it as it just showing "time to get a new skype app - we have replaced this app with an improved Skype experience,see what you can do with the new app." please help me as i have to connect internationally,and without Skype I am unable to connect.

When I open the MAS, I get a "Cannot Connect to the App Store" alert in the window.
When I try to signin, I receive a red "Connection failed" message in the signin dialog box.
When I go to Software Update from the Apple Menu, I receive a notice that "Software Update can’t connect to the update server. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet, and then try again."
When I click on the Network Diagnostics button presented and go through the diagnostic, my network reports operating perfectly.
When I go to an app on the iTunes web-storefront click on the "View in Mac App Store" button, the MAS launches, but I get the same connection error.
I can sign in to the iTunes store. I can update software on my iDevices by using the iOS App Store. I have no problems there. It's just the MAS.

I have restarted my computer, I have removed the App Store with AppDelete and reinstalled from the Lion 10.7.4 Client Combo. I've got no change.
I did notice that the MAS window menu reports the name of the window as "Firenze", which seems weird to me. Can anyone advise me?

Next, open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/ScirptingAdditions
Click Go
Move the SIMBL.osax files from the ScriptingAddtions folder to the Trash
Try the App Store.

I cannot connect any skype accounts on my Eurostar...

Hello. I have tried for a number of days now to connect 'preloaded' skype on my Eurostar Smart TV. I have used my existing account details and also tried with my Microsoft account, but no joy. I have also tried to create a new skype account on my tv.
All these things respond with the message 'cannot connect to skype at this time, please check your mobile settings and try again'.
I am connected to my wireless router and have a good internet connection.
Can anyone help? This TV was bought for my kids playroom so they can skype their grandparents as we live a long way from home.

Hi all,
My girlfriend has a macbook air, and wanted to update her computer to Lion. I had no problem doing that on my own macbook pro, but I can't do it on hers. She didn't update her softwares regularly, so at first I found myself having to update a ton softwares so I could finally install the Mac App Store. Once it finished installing though I was never able to actually use it, as when I open the application it just says: "Cannot Connect to the App Store". I looked up online and people had similar problems, and none of the suggested solutions worked:
- Starting up the computer in "Safe Mode" did not work;
- Repairing all the permissions in the Disk Utility application did not work;
- Signing out and in the Mac App Store from the App Store application did not work;
- The problem is certainly not the internet connection because I was able to update my computer in the same connection, and I can regularly access it on my computer.
Does anyone have a tip to solve this problem?

Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store. Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.

ok so i've been reading around and i can't seem to find a definitive answer.
i'm running OS 10.6.8 but anytime i attempt to open the app store i get the message 'cannot connect to the app store'.
i've tried reinstalling the 10.6.8 combo update, but that hasn't worked, i've tried reinstalling the original snow leopard disk that came with the macbook pro, then doing software updates, but that hasn't worked. any advice would be greatly appreciated, just want to upgrade to lion but i have to have access to the app store to do so, frustrating. thanks in advance for any help,

I purchased Lion thru the app store and it was deducted from my account. I cannot download it. I can download other apps, but it seems like Lion is hung up or something. Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.

Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.
Or this ...
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
