Cannot connect to the internet it has been connected to for a year.

Monday my Apple TV worked fine. Yesterday, it wouldn't connect to the WiFi it had been connected to for a year. I tried to hardwire it to the apple extreme and it slowed my network down to a snails pace.  I bought a new Apple TV last night and it worked fine all night. Now, after being in sleep mode, same issue. Cannot connect to the network.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried that page and there was nothing on it that solved my issue. I ended up calling Apple Support for help and was advised there have been issues with the latest update of Apple TV. The strange thing was that after I had it unplugged for a few days, I plugged it in while on the phone with support and it worked again. The rep gave me his email/phone and asked me to call him back if I have the issue again. Apple is aware of the issue.
Happy to have my Apple TV back.
Wade

I finally stumbled across a fix for this problem, and in case someone else is frustrated at some point by a similar issue I'm posting what finally worked to enable me to bring iTunes up at any time (without rebooting first).
The solution was to go to the preferences to uncheck "search for shared libraries".
I'm glad the problem is fixed, but Apple developers really should include a timeout function on iTunes search for a shared libraries. At least a visual dialog to confirm that the application is in the process of searching for a shared library on the network would help provide clues as to what is causing the spinning beach ball to appear right about the time the application window should pop up.

  • Has the easily scratchable backing on the iphone 5 has been sorted out for the 5S?

Does anyone know if the scratchgate issue has been sorted out for the 5S? Im thinking of getting the black one. Also the Apple site doesnt really give a good feel of what the leather cases will look like - anyone know any better sites?
What other issues with the iphone5 were there that should have been taken care of in 5S? over heating, battery, etc
    Also,
I have an iphone 4 - I havent updated the ios software since version 5 I think. If I back up my phone and when the new 5S comes out I restore it onto that will it mess up my contacts, messages, apps etc? Or is there an easier way to transfer the settings and everything as it is on my current phone to the new 5S? Since its a nee OS I wondered whether the apps may end up in different folders etc.
    Thanks guys.

No one here has gotten their hands on a 5S or 5C as they have not been released yet.

    None.

  • I received notice about a new cover art requirement (1400x1400 pixels) but can't find a way to change my existing art. My podcast has been updating flawlessly for several years, so I'd hate to have to remove the feed and start over.

Please note - this was not a personalized email - Apple is sending this out to ALL podcasts that are listed on iTunes.
If you are hosting with Libsyn or most any other "Podcast" host you should be ok.

If you are on a self hosted site or worse yet using some file storage service like Dropbox - then you are going to have issues.
Again - this leter from Apple does not mean anything is wrong wth your show specifically - it is a generic letter going out to all podcasters.

  • HT1551 My Apple TV has been working perfectly for a year now it doesn't.

My Apple TV has been working fine for a year, and now it plays about a minute and "An error occurred loading this content" screen comes up. This has been going on for 2 months.I tried to use it with Netflix and with movies purchase through the Apple store. Iphone sych also does not work.

Hi Brian - The light at the front of the ATV indicates it is on.  I can't see it on the iOS remote app.  Actually, I installed the app and when I went to the ATV it said 'no signal'.  So, I am not sure if it is coincidence or what, as I did NOT go to the settings on the ATV and change the remote setting.  I can't set it to another TV, can I set it to my MacBook to check?  Thanks a lot by the way!

  • When I click onto the firefox webbrowser, I get the message "firefox has stopped working, windows will close the application to find a solution to the problem " This has been going on for several days, I've had to go back IE to access web pages

When I click onto the firefox webbrowser, I get the message "firefox has stopped working, windows will close the application to find a solution to the problem."

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.

  • ITunes 7.4.1 hangs & has been doing so for entire year!

I am running a dual processor G4 machine with OS X 10.3.9. I have gone through many updates of iTunes and Quicktime, and always my problem remains. I have heard there may be a trigger relating to network activity, but I have yet to read anything on the issue that would clarify whether it relates to what I am about to describe. (In case it is relevant, however, I am on a network that serves to link printers and a cable modem between my Mac and some Windows PCs via ethernet — but this "network" does not involve logging into a remote host.)
Okay, so here's the first of what is a twofold problem: If I want to use iTunes at all, I have to reboot my machine and launch iTunes immediately thereafter so that it loads before any other apps are launched. Even if I do not launch any apps after bootup, simply walking away and coming back later will trigger the problem of iTunes refusing to complete startup. So the gist of it is that if I fail to launch iTunes right after the computer boots, I will see the library load, the status bar complete successfully, and then, at the point where the app/window should appear… nothing. Not even an error message.
The Activity Monitor simply states that iTunes has hung. To get rid of the spinning beach ball, I have to force iTunes to quit. Whenever the launch hangs up in this manner, I cannot even restart my machine because the logout will time out because iTunes is "not responding".
The second component to this problem is that even if I reboot my computer and successfully launch iTunes — which, as I said, is the only way to make it work — I must continue using iTunes without interruption. Why? Because if I let the iTunes app go idle — say if I leave the computer for more than five minutes or launch another application — iTunes, upon my return, will "stop responding"… and again all I see is the spinning beach ball.
As mentioned, there is no error messages whatsoever. In fact, when I view my crash log even the info. I find there (see below) is outdated. I cannot find anything more current than the error that was reported in March of this year (which, incidentally, is probably when all this started — about the same time OS 10.3.9 was installed to a fresh hard drive and my iTunes library was restored to my new drive using my iPod in conjunction with a third party app that spells iTunes backwards… but that's another story).
Please keep in mind that I know next to nothing about UNIX command lines/troubleshooting. I've been using Macs since the '80s and was pretty good at troubleshooting all things pre-OS X, but when OS X came out Apple lost me.
Thus far what I have done mostly amounts to repeatedly verifying/repairing disk permissions (using the install CD). Of course, if repairing permissions had helped, I wouldn't be here . I also downloaded and installed a fresh copy of QuickTime, but that didn't help, either. I've also run all the utilities, and everything turns up fine (I ONLY use OS X for Web surfing and iTunes; there are very few third-party apps installed).
So now that I have given the circumstances, I will conclude this post with a sample from my console/crashlog. It dates back to March and isn't current, but hopefully it provides a clue as to why I've gone through all the iTunes/Quicktime updates and still see the exact same problem persist:

Thanks again for any clues/tips you can provide! I've been dealing with this iTunes startup issue for the entire year thus far, but never had any such issues under Jaguar!

  • Computer shuts down and starts up by itself. I have 27" mid-2011 model. Has been like this for 2 years now. The hard drive and the mother board has been replaced already. No help, the problem still returns.

    This morning it started again.
When I write the word "shut" to console it says:
    kernel[0] Previous shutdown cause: 0
locationd[55] locationd was started after an unclean shutdown
    kernel[0] Previous shutdown cause: -128
locationd[55] locationd was started after an unclean shutdown
locationd[54] locationd was started after an unclean shutdown
    kernel[0] Previous shutdown cause: 3
Yosemite is installed. But the problem has happened with every operating systems.
Disk utility can't find any problems.
No usb or other devices are connected.
I deleted the file: com.apple.PowerManagement.plist (someone suggested that it may help)
I think it's not the matter of heat, because the problem occurs right away when starting my comp.
With a safe mode it sometimes stays up for hours. So could it be a problem with applications, rather than hardware?
    Help is highly appreciated!
    Thank you!

Thank you, I did ran etrecheck.
    Here's the result.
Now my computer did shuts down even in safe mode, sometimes in seconds.
So I have to keep this short.

  • How the sContainerLocation parameter has been set and used?

    Hi,
    I'm confused with the following 2 methods in IContainerProvider Interface (Java EDK5.0):(1) public IContainer attachToContainer(String sContainerLocation, ChildRequestHint oHint, String Locale);(2).public ChildContainer[] getChildContainers();
I'm not sure how the sContainerLocation parameter has been set correctly for the top lever container and the sub level (child containers). What i intended to do is crawl all documents (all have a unique ID) into Plumtree portal. I plan to set the parent folder ObjectID as a datasource parameter. Can anyone please tell me how to use the "parent folder ObjectID" in those 2 methods.
    Thanks in advance,

    Mihir,
For the top-level container, set parent folder Object ID equal to CrawlerConstants.TAG_PATH. I've only configured this via a custom SCI page in the Crawler admin object, so I'm not sure if it will work as a setting in the Data Source as you wish to do. You can try it in the data source and if it doesn't work, then try it in the Crawler. When set correctly, the portal will automatically call attachToContainer with sContainerLocation equal to whatever value you have for TAG_PATH.
For child containers, just set the sLocation in the ChildContainer equal to the folder ObjectID and the portal will use that as the value for sContainerLocation on its subsequent attachToContainer calls.

I've set this in the crawler UI, and I'm not sure if it will work in the data source.

My iPad will not update apps.  It states it is installing but if never completes the installation this has been going on for more than 24 hours. What do I need to do?

    Try a reset:
    1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds
    2. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)

Thanks for the quick response ...
I had already tried deleting the review slide itself, though Captivate wouldn't let me - it just hid it. I tried again using the method you recommended but the slide remained in the filmstrip, so I tried deleting again, then re-added it from the Quiz Settings page ... no joy, same behavior as before.
I checked the Advanced Interaction page and confirmed that all of the scored questions were configuredthe same way as the non-scored questions, with the only difference being the pool that they were drawing from.
Other thoughts? I am by no means a Captivate expert but this one really feels like it shouldn't be this hard, and I'm more than a little afraid that it's the file itself that's jacked up ...

  • Need post to GL whach has been set up for Automatic posting.

    HI Guru's
interest balances were uploaded in to different a/c and now user wants to post to the right a/c (interest a/c) but the GL master has been set up for automatic posting. this posting are done from treasury contract(loan).  is there anyway can we post a JV to this a/c?

    Hi Mythria
I would advice you to not change the GL master account setting to post manually, as this would become an audit issue later,
instead I would suggest to create a new GL account for interest (manual adjustment) and post JV to this new account.
You may include this new account in your financial statement at the same place where you have the interest a/c to which you wanted to post
    Regards
    Sach!n
