Cannot connect to the Internet via PPPoE in Windows manually?

In Lion there is a little triangle after the Wi-Fi name (SSID) that can connect and disconnect the Internet via PPPoE. But how to do the same thing in Windows? Is it possible?
And there is also a bug in Mac OS --- if you choose to show the connected time, it will freeze later and the little triangle for connecting is also disappeared! So you have to refresh it to recall that little triangle again.

I have the exact same problem and my home network have a max capacity of 250 devices, which Im not any way near off.
I have one pc connected via ethernet, so I always have an option of connecting if WIFI fails.
I have one iMAC connecyed via WIFI
I have one Apple notebook conenected via WIFI
I have one Nintendo Wii connected via WIFI
And, I have one Apple TV which will not connect while other devices are connected. If I disconnect the notebook and iMAC the Apple TV works fine.

  • I cannot connect to the Internet after installation of Windows Vista Ultimate edition.

I cannot connect to the Internet after installation of Windows Vista Ultimate edition. For some odd reason, it seems my ethernet has not yet been installed to my operating system and I do not know how to do that even with the internet, I have the LAN cable hooked up to my computer but I do not know exactly what to do about it. Is there some sort of driver I need to install, or what? How do I do that without the internet?
This operating system is on a separate partition to my other operating system that is connected to internet already (Windows Vista Premium) that I do not wish to use anymore because of it's corruption. I tell you this because you may know a way of finding the driver files on my previous operating system that I may be able to transfer to the other.

  • Help, I cannot connect to the internet via airport with either my Imac or I-Pad.  Connecting via ethernet works okay for Imac.  I can connect wirelesssly with my windows laptop.  I have reset my router, created a new network. It was all okay on Monday

Normally I have my IMac, I-Pad and Windows Laptop all working on my home network via wi-fi. This week I find that I cannot access the inetrnet on my IMac or I-pad via wi-fi but I can connect to the internet via wi-fi with my windows based laptop.
The airport diagnostics (reds/yellows) indcate that I am connected
I can access the internet if I plug my IMac into the router via an ethernet cable
I have restarted the IMac and the I-Pad, rebooted the router and created a new network.  None of these changes has made a difference.  Does anyone have any ideas please?

  • Cannot connect to the internet via mobile network.... AIRCEL

I just bought a new Z10 yesterday and just to test the internet on the phone i subscribed a 14rs pack for one day and then switched on data services .... there is a bold H+ sign showing at the top right hand side of the screen but when i try to access the internet via the browser it does not connect to the internet.

Your data plan is not working. You need to check with your wireless service provider and tell them it's not working. They should be able to fix it.

  • E3200 Cannot Connect To The Internet

I have purchased a new E3200 to replace my old Linksys router.  It locates my computers and sets up a network, but cannot connect to the internet via my Comcast cable modem.  I have read on this forum about Mac address issues, but it has located the Mac address.  The internet IP address is all zeros, and releasing and renewing the IP does nothing.  Help!

my itunes cannot connect to the internet

I don't use windows, don't you have a help folder...go there, enter firewall, look for how to disable...you can try to update with just your ant-virus disabled, but if your firewall is still active it most likely won't work.

  • Macbook Pro suddenly will not connect to the internet via ethernet cable.

I know this is a long shot... but I figured I would give it a try.
My macbook pro suddenly does not connect to the internet via ethernet cable. Please bear with me, as I am not very tech-savvy - I will try my best to describe the symptoms!
I connect to the internet via ethernet (we don't have wifi). It was working before I went to work, and when I came home I suddenly couldn't get anything to work (I know everyone says this, but I truly didn't mess with anything). Internet browsers just think for awhile and then turn up the 'You are not connected to the internet' error.
I went into my network preferences and curiously, the 'Ethernet' shows a green dot and says 'connected'. However it says 'Authentication server is not responding' underneath the last part that says '802.1X: WPA: eduroam' (I think that is my user profile).
When I go into my 'security' settings I can see that my firewall is off, so that shouldn't be causing any problems.
I've tried restarting the router and computer itself many times. Diagnostics just gets to a certain point and reports back 'Network Diagnostics cannot fix the current networking problems.' I've also tried switching to a different ethernet cable, and I tried both cables out on a PC laptop and it connected without issue.  Additionally, I brought my macbook along to a friend's house and it connected to his wifi just fine, so the problem appears to just be with ethernet connections.
I know it's hard to troubleshoot this kind of thing without being there and having a look at the computer yourself, but any tips wouild be greatly appreciated.

As I mentioned above, I am not very tech savvy so I have no idea why a wireless protocol would be showing up there, I'm just listing everything I see in hopes that someone might know something I can try. This is why I am asking for help here - I'm not sure what has happened that has made me unable to connect, especially since it seemingly occured while nobody was using the computer.
I guess I should clarify that I'm not a total hillbilly- normally my firewall is set to 'on', but I set it to 'off' to try and troubleshoot the issues here as I was told that sometimes it can interfere with the computer's ability to connect to the internet. If this is not the case and firewall does not affect anything, I will turn it back on while I try to fix this.
I have tried the method you mentioned above a few times - I actually contacted my ISP earlier this week and they recommended resetting the router like that. They didn't mention any known network issues.

  • Connecting to the internet via an internet stick/dongle

    Hi
I am currently trying to connect my eMac - to the internet via a stick/dongle and cannot find the appropriate vodafone software to make it work.
Software version 10.5 on the mac and have two internet sticks one - a Huawei K3770 and a K3571 both with Vodafone - Ireland
Any idea, please, on where I can download this software and anything else I can do to to make a connection to the internet?
The Vodafone software runs yet does not see either device. The connection through ethernet is great.
    Lance

    Lance,
First of all, would it be correct to assume that everything regarding installation and connection is exactly according to the mobile broadband modem instructions for your very operating system (see below for a link to the K3770 device guide page)?
    http://deviceguides.vodafone.ie/wsa/home.aspx?Id=3992&hwid=3845
Vodaphone should be able to inform you about any necessary software/firmware updates (these may be carried out automatically).
Generally speaking, if a computer for some reason cannot connect to the Internet because of system software version limitations (which does not appear to be true here, since Leopard seems to be supported) for a mobile broadband stick, a workaround will become necessary. One way is to use a dedicated mobile broadband router (with support for the USB mobile broadband modem and the network in question) with Wi-Fi capabilities, and then connect from the computer to the router via Wi-Fi. Another way could be to use a MiFi device, which combines the mobile broadband modem and the Wi-Fi base station in one small unit.
    Jan
EDIT: I just noticed Kenichi Watanabe's comment about the USB port speeds. This could of course be a limiting factor as well. Another one could be that the USB port is unable to provide enough power to the device. In both cases, a mobile broadband router or a MiFi unit may be of interest instead.

  • Can a 6300 with no SIM connect to the Internet via...

    Hello,
I have a Nokia 6300 and I would like to be able to connect it via USB lead to my PC and use the PC's internet connection rather than the normal GPRS connection. The hard bit is that I want to do this without having a SIM card in the phone.
I'm aware that the 6300 can do lots of things without the SIM card but I can't seem to get this to work. I can do file transfers etc but cannot connect to the internet.
Does anyone have a suggestions for me?
    Many thanks

My mac air OSX10.8.5 won't connect to the internet. It says it has a 'self assigned IP address and therefore cannot connect to the internet'. Network diagnostics is unable to the solve the problem. It happened suddenly for no reason and now I cannot connect except by typing in the configuration settings manually. Please help me!

Use the Airport Utility or log into your wireless device via http and ensure the DHCP/NAT service is enabled.  If accessing via HTTP, you will need to manually set an ip within your local subnet (eg: 192.168.0.x).
