Cannot connect to the iTunes store - tried everything, new Ipad

Hi,
I got my iPad2 2 days ago and everything was going fine until last night.
It suddenly stopped allowing me to install any apps, even though previously it had been installing apps just fine. I changed nothing, did nothing, it just stopped working last night.
I have tried all the solutions I can find so far: Change the time and back again, sub DNS servers (I used opendns), changes to location services, etc. I can access everything fine from my PC.
Please keep in mind that this happened within the space of an hour and I had changed nothing in my settings. The error started occuring and no matter what I do, I can now not download apps.
This is my first apple device, I have been an Android person, and I though Apple was supposed to be easy and just worked. This is far worse than any problem I have had on an android device in the last 4 years and I have to say I am disappointed with my very first experience.BUT (very important!!! please read!) I do noty want to have a discussion on Android vs Apple please - I like both, and am only insterested in getting my iPad working. I would be very grateful for any help you can offer.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.

    I took back my iphone4 yesterday that I had for almost a year because the back button was broken. The apple store exchanged it n gave me a new iphone4. I brought it home and backed it up and now when I go to purchase a app it says I cannot connect to iTunes over wifi. I had no problems with my other iphone4 and used that back up to restore my new phone so I don't understand why I can't connect to iTunes now over my wifi with my new iPhone4.  Please help!!!

    I'm having the same problem on my ipad 2. Error message "cannot connect to iTunes" pops up when I open the App store. I can access iTunes app without issues though. This only happens when I'm on wifi at home. At work, I can access the App Store and iTunes.
    I don't think it's the internet because I'm using a stable wifi connection and can browse websites. Plus, my iphone can connect to both App store and iTunes at home and at work. This has been ongoing since I updated my ipad to ios 6.
    If anyone knows a fix for this, it will be very much appreciated.

    I get a message that my ipad 2 and iphone 5 cannot connect to the itunes store when I try to sync a book to my book app. Although, when I click "store" both are able to access the itunes store. Why is this? Also I tried to open a book that was synced and a message that I did not have enough memory to load this book popped up--when I know that I have well over 40gb of memory left in my ipad and over 16gb left in my iphone.     Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
    If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and changing the date to a few months (or maybe a year or two) in the future and then re-trying

    Power cycle the ATV and router.
    If the issue persists, on the ATV go to Settings > General > Reset

    I suspect a location-driven problem here. I live in SHanghai, China - as does the poster above! I have this problem on three different computers using three different ISPs.
    Anybody got a suggestion? Tried firewalls, turning off virus production, reinstalling iTunes, putting phobos.apple.com and such in the permitted list, all sorts of stuff, to no avail. And Apple help support just bounces me around - I've interacted via email with three people, finally graduated to a real person, and they sent me back to email when the usual "reboot your machine and reinstall iTunes, then turn off virus protection" didn't work.

    I get "unknown error occurred (0x80092013). Tried firewall and proxy settings, nothing is working. This is frustrating. None of the troubleshooting is working for me...All I want to do is connect to the Itunes store from my desktop. Also, I can connect to the store on the other desktops and ipads in the house, just not this computer. And last but not least, is it possible to "manually manage songs" for your Iphone with multiple computers?

    I'm having the same problem.  iOS, Network & iTunes are up to date and working fine.  But the Apps update just says "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store".  I've tried everything I can think of, but still no go.  I've not done iPhone support before.  How do we get Apple to address the problem?

Despite the fact that my network connection is working quite fine, this problem still persists. I can say that my connection is fine because I can surf the internet and furthermore, I used to connect to the iTunes store just before this incident happened which started from April 17, 2014 and persists until today. I tried to solve the problem by following the troubleshoot procedures given in the support section of this site but it really did not solve the problem. I believe that others are experiencing this situation as well very similar to mine when it comes to the time of occurrence as I have read in the discussions in this site. Even though we have different network connections, operating systems and other specifications, we still experience the same problem, so is there really a problem with our computers or is it with the iTunes? And by the way, my computer works under Windows XP. Thanks a lot. God bless.

    Try this...
    Triple click anywhere in the line below to select it and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
    cmd /k netsh winsock reset
    Press the WinLogoKey+R to open the run dialog, then Ctrl+V to paste, then press enter/return.
    You should get something similar to this:
    Reboot the computer and the problem should be resolved.
    If it doesn't work then perhaps a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes will fix things. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for details.

    I'm on iPhone software 2.0 and have a connection to the internet via WiFi and VPN (using the integrated Cisco client). Everything works fine (Safari, Mail, mobileme push of contacts and calendars) but the iTunes Store and the App Store won't. While the App Store keeps spinning the iTunes Store says "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store". Has anyone else experienced a similar phenomenon?

    We're having the same issue. App Store and iTunes do not work when all traffic is tunneled over VPN. Yet, other applications like Safari, New York Times reader, Telnet, etc... work perfectly fine over VPN. If we have the iPhone switch over to using split tunneling VPN mode, then the App Store and iTunes work since they do not appear to be sending traffic over the VPN tunnel. I can say for certain that no outgoing traffic is being blocked on the VPN servers since I administer those servers. I also did a packet capture on the iPhone wireless session and it appears that the App Store sends traffic over the regular HTTP port. So it really doesn't make any sense from a VPN perspective why Safari would work but not the App Store or iTunes when you're tunneling all traffic over VPN. Our iPhones are using the latest firmware (5F136). If anyone has any update, please do share.

    Happens to me too - sorta.
    Except I can connect to the iTunes store, but not to the Starbucks wifi - and through that, Safari. All I can reach is the Starbucks opening page and no further. I'm in New York BTW, and all the Starbucks display the "now playing" screen prominently. What's up with that? All I get is the 'Cannot connect to the iTunes Store window bounces up and yet I can access the 'favorites', 'top tens', etc.
    Can anyone help us out here? What are we doing wrong?
