"Cannot connect to this iPhone" message on Mac Pro

Lately (since the update to iTunes 10.5.2? I'm not certain) I've been getting alert messages popping up on the desktop of my Mac Pro saying "iTunes cannot connect to this iPhone at this time". I'm baffled. This isn't an iPhone -- there isn't an iPhone in the house, although I do have an iPad. But I'd have thought whatever software was generating this behaviour would be able to distinguish between different species of Apple hardware, and the message isn't showing up on the iPad, but on the Mac Pro, which is a different OS!
What's going on? Is iTunes trying to do something it doesn't need to do, or shouldn't be doing? Or is this a way of telling me someone with an iPhone is trying to sneak in to my wireless LAN? (This is BT Infinity, which is a black box, unlike my former AirPort LAN on top of a Virgin cable modem; there I had an access list as well as WPA2.) Or what?

Update....following a Power cycle the iPad SW was able to be updated and iTunes recognised it!!
Note iTunes SW version is 11.1.4 (62) 64 Bit.
All cables are OEM.

Did you try restarting it by holding down the hold and lock button at the same time until you get the apple logo?  If you already tried that then you should try putting it in DFU mode and doing a restore by following these instructions- http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034

  • I recently thought I lost my iPhone and I erased it but now that I found it. I cannot get the this iPhone message is lost please call ********* I am out of the country my laptop is at home. I cannot access I tune. How do I fix this. I have an iPhone 4s

I recently thought I lost my iPhone and I erased it but now that I found it. I cannot get the this iPhone message is lost please call ********* I am out of the country my laptop is at home. I cannot access I tune. How do I fix this. I need to get it back on so I can face time with my family. The phone says 3G but it keeps saying on list mode. I signed on icloud and removed it from the account and nothing. Please help!

If you removed the device from your iCloud account rather than using the "Stop Lost Mode" option, then you will most certainly need to restore the iPhone, and that will require a computer running iTunes.

  • "iTunes cannot connect to this iPhone. You do not have permission."

Why am I getting a "iTunes cannot connect to this iPhone. You do not have permission." error after I just activated my new iPhone 4? Anything will help. Thanks.

Did you resolve this yet? It took me 3 hours on the phone with support over 2 sessions, but they found the solution.
    From the Finder menu:
    Go/Go to Folder...
    Enter: var/db/lockdown
Select everything in folder and delete
    Restart computer
Launch iTunes and plug in phone. It should work (that's what did it for us).
    Good luck.

  • Itunes is saying it cannot connect to this iphone but I have a touch.

I am a dance teacher and trying to sync up my ipod touch to my PC to get my new songs on it and make some changes to my itunes. Itunes will not allow the sync because of error 0XE8000065 which states itunes could not connect to this iphone.  I have been having a lot of problems in the past few months with syncing in general like itunes saying that it does not authorize my PC when it is the only one I have ever used.  I have updated the latest software and restored my ipod but that is as far as I can get.
    Thank you for any help.

Your iTunes library is missing these songs or your iPod Touch is? If they are only missing from your iPod Touch, you can simply resync your music back over to it.
Otherwise, if the music is no longer in your iTunes library as well, you'll need to reimport or redownload those tracks.

  • Cannot sync ical from iphone to my mac pro

    Hi All
I have tried all sorts and although I ticked the relevant boxes on itunes, I cannot transfer (sync) ical info from iphone to my mac.
I have no info on my mac i cal, everything else like contacts seem to sync no problem!
I have tried using isync instead of itunes as some folk recommended but without any success.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks for your help
    H

Before syncing calendar events with an empty supported calendar app on your computer, you need to enter one calendar event in the supported calendar app on your computer - in this case in iCal on your Mac. Make this calendar event up if needed, which can be deleted later.
If there are any calendar events available on your iPhone, this should provide a merge prompt with this first sync for this data, which you want to select.
I have tried using isync instead of itunes as some folk recommended but without any success.
iSync can't be used to sync anything with an iPhone. iSync can be used to reset the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences.

  • HT1338 Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 / iTunes 11.1.4 "iTunes cannot connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected."

Since updating iTunes, I have been unable to connect any of my devices to my iTunes. I have two iPad Minis which come up with same exact message as my iPhone 5. When I try to close the message it just keeps reopening and the connect sound plays repeatedly on my devices. I have to use 'Force Quit' to close iTunes.
I have tried using a different cable and replugging in and out again. I have also checked for OS and iTunes updates but my software is current.

I think I solved my problem!
I noticed, when I connected, the ipad that the new "Trust this Computer" popup to Flash on and off very quickly (See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5868 for info on purpose of the popup). It appeared for such a short time that I was never able to see it for long enough to respond to it.
Last night I switched off the lock password (the ipad was not connected to the mac when I did this). Today when I tried again to connect the Mac I heard a beep and saw the "Trust this Computer" popup. Instead of being presented for fractions of a second, as it had been previously, it was shown for a second or two before dissappearing and reappearing several seconds later etc.
When I realised that the "Trust this Computer! popup was being presented for long enough for me to push the Trust button, I attempted to press it. The popup closed and the ipad showed it was charging. The Mac presented a popup saying it had not been able to connect. I selected "OK", itunes loaded and started to sync to the ipad.
I subsequently conncted the ipad via a different cable. The problem started again (it is a genuine apple cable, supplied with the ipad). As soon as I added the cable that had worked all was OK again.
My wife's ipad had the same behaviour as I have described above.
I noticed that ios version 7.1.1 is now available. I have installed it. However this does not solve the problem as described above.
Conclusion: I now only have one out of 6 cables that I have that actually works!!! This cable is one of those "older types" that has "clips" in the side to "lock" it into place on the ipad. The ipad end is about twice the depth of the cable that was shipped with the ipad (possibly I got it with an old ipod) . What has Apple done to make so many cables unusable at overnight? I have not yet found any sources for this old type of cable.

  • Restored phone, and now i get an error message saying "itunes cannot connect to this iphone" error code: 0xE800000A

so i restored my phone and updated to ios 6, but now my itunes isnt recognizing my phone, and all of my contacts/pictures/messages etc are gone. please help. i'm having so many problems with this update, and i've never had a problem with an apple product yet.

Is your iPhone turned on or off? Are you still able to use it? If yes, sync everything to your iCloud so everything is saved. The following steps/suggestion will delete all your data so it is important to sync everything to your iCloud or iTunes:
Again, WARNING: This will restore the iPhone to factory setting.
Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes, turn your iPhone off (hold down power button), hold down power button (on top) while holding the home button (middle button/the only button on the iPhone) for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, release ONLY the power button (on top) while continuing to hold down the home button (middle button/the only button on the iPhone) until a message appears in iTunes.
Then you can try updating yout iPhone again..
I hope this helps! Good luck.
