Cannot connect to virginmedia imap
I can connect to my email provider using the webmail interface, but the mail app is saying it can't connect. The connection doctor says the SMPT connection is good but the IMAP connection bad. If I enter my details in the Internet Accounts section for Virginmedia it returns a message saying unable to verify username or password.
If it can't connect, how come I can access mails via the webmail interface? Does that only need the SMPT connection?
It was working fine yesterday and I haven't changed anything.
The server should be imap.gmail.com, try that.

So my gmail address list or contacts seems to have been hacked and all my contacts who are still talking to me have told me so.
So I changed my gmail password.
No more complaints, and probably no more friends as contacts.
But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)
Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too)
BUT
I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.
Any suggestions before I call Apple for help?

Actually I think I need to get the App Password for Mail on my phone. It generates the app password and I enter it into the password in the gmail setup for mail.
The problem is that when I hit next on that page, I get the message:
"my name" is already added" and I cannot proceed.
Before doing this setup I deleted my gmail account by tapping the email address and hitting delete in the Mail, Contact and Calendars setup..
but, there is something hiding in my iPhone that remembers my old gmail password (I guess) and doesn't let me proceed.
If I enter my gmail iChain password I get the same thing.
If i do this in airplane mode (no connection to google) i also get the same.
I talked to an apple care person who had me reset all my settings... still the same thing.
I am trying to avoid a gull reset of the iPhone, but that may be in the cards.
Going to go to the apple store and ask there, but i am not hopeful.

The last week connecting to iCloud has been hit or miss. I use my computer everyday and find it frustrating when I get the message "could not connect to could map This is after downloading the new updates
Ok, so I'm guessing this was a two part screw up in the upgrade.
Part 1 was that the upgrade corrupted the network settings, which resulted in a lack of connectivity when it rebooted into Yosemite.
Part 2 seems to have be that if you don't set up iCloud on setup (which I couldn't since I had no network on reboot) it leads to a corruption of the iCloud pref, /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences/MobileMeAccounts.plist, which if I delete and restart brings back functionality in iCloud, iTunes, App Store and oddly Mail.
I then had to do this twice since the first time I tried turning on my Bonjour account in Adium it screwed the whole thing up again. What the connection is between Adium and mobileme prefs are I couldn't tell you, but I'll leave it off for a bit and see where that gets me.

My iPad give me a message that my imap gmail account cannot connect. I was able to get mail yesterday, now can't get it today.
Maybe the mail server is down.

Close the mail app completely and reboot your iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the mail icon. Tap the home button. Tap it again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
After updating to IOS 7.0.2 in my Ipad mini I cannot update my apps nor download new apps . It says "cannot connect to ITunes. " it's been almost 3 wks now. I have tried resetting it and trying other options like changing the DNS to just 8.8.8 etc but to no avail. I try to run the IOS diagnostics but it couldn't verify my ticket number. Everytime I open my mail it cannot identify server identity " Apple.imap.yahoo.com." But I just clicked "continue" anyway so I could get my mail.

Connection Problems with iMAP and Mail in Mountain Lion
Hi everybody,
since the Update on Mountain Lion I am having the following problem:
When my iMac wakes up after some time, Mail isn't working anymore by showing the triangle with the exclamation mark. By clicking on it it shows the following picture (sorry for being in german). What you see is, that the internet connection works fine but Mail says it cannot connect to the iCloud iMAP Server. I should check if iCloud supports SSL and if it does not, deactivate it...
After closing Mail an reopening it again, everything works fine until the next episode of waking up...
Any hints??

StefanIf you do, I highly recommend wiping the harddrive and doing a clean
install. An upgrade install, especially from two versions back is going
to be nothing short of a crapshoot.
Deactivate any software before doing so. -

Hi it looks like a lot of problems with the BT YAHOO Mail on iphone
i can get all my BT Yahoo mail no problem on internet.
BUT now i cannot get any mail on my iphone using the mail App.

Kind RegardsI was also having lots of issues over the last two days, but found an easy fix...
1) Go to Settings
2) Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3) Choose your Yahoo account
4) Hit your Account name at the top
5) Check you password... my password was not right -- don't know if it was remembered as an old one or if it was just dorked up altogether, but I corrected it and now everything is fine.

He fact is that i m trying to configure my Nokia Messaging with and IMAP account (job´s account)
In the past I have had configured this account on my device, but after a hard reset (due to firmware update) I can not make this account works (my Gmail and Hotmail account works perfectly)
I have checked all the fields like Incoming / outcoming port and server, mail, password, etc but the message always appear "Cannot connect to server"
I know that this account with the parameters i have put in the nokia mail web works perfectly since i have the same working in my PC (outlook express)

I will try to do what you said, but the i don´t think this will work.
I already have the nokia messaging on my device with 3 configured accounts: GMAIL / HOTMAIL / OVI MAIL.
The only one wich does not work is the IMAP account of my job (in the past, i had it full working on my n97 device, but as i said, after a full reboot, i try to configure again with no succes)
On the other hand, i am now trying what you said. Logining in email.nokia.com and making this page send me an sms to installa the Nokia Messaging on my phone again.

PD: For your information, when i try to configure my IMAP mail on the webpage ( http://email.nokia.com ) i fill in all the full blanks like incoming server, port, outcoming server, port, email, password, user, but after some seconds the webpage shows a message telling that it is not possible connect to the server. Try again later.
I do not know the reason, because i have this same this account configured in my oulook express (PC) with these same parameters, and works well.

I got the above error when trying to add my gmail account with the new $20 upgrade mail app.
I have checked my settings in my gmail account and they have imap and pop enabled.
Has anyone else gotten this error? Any fixes?
Thanks"Cannot Connect Using SSL" could also mean that it cannot do any SSL at all. Since I am expecting to use many open/public WLANs the use of SSL is really a must.
You could try creating a new Gmail account just for testing purposes. That should not interfere with any existing account or configuration. Otherwise, disable Gmail on the BB for a few hours and then try connecting again with the Touch. If the IMAP server is accessed from distinctly different IP address for the same account at the same time it may get confused (shouldn't, but you never know). -
Playbook 2.0 cannot connect to Gmail
Well RIM BlackBerry Playbook 2.0 is here and it's dissapointing to learn that it is just as big a pile of %Y%# as 1.X.
Cannot set up Gmail through any of numerous different ways. (Gmail, IMAP, Exchange... you name it.) All different ways generate all different kinds of errors such as cannot connect at this or username and password is wrong.
It's really great to see we waited 8 months for nothing.
Anyone have any helpful ideas?

Cannot connect to server in Icloud
i had changed my email for my apple ID and I did not change it in icloud.... I cannot remember my password to my first apple ID on the icloud account. I need to know how to change my icloud info on my Ipad. It keeps telling me to review the terms and when I try it says cannot connect to server. I have tried to delete the Icloud account so I can add my new one but I need to know my password to old apple ID. I have tried to get them to email me to change the password but I am not getting any emails to do this. please someone help me

If the mail was moved to a mailbox under "On My Mac", it should no longer have any connection to the original mailbox. Deleting (delinking) the IMAP email account from Mac Mail should have no effect on that message.
In fact, I just confirmed that by adding an IMAP email account of mine to this Mac (which had not used it before), sending it a message from my phone, moving the message to an "On My Mac" mailbox, and deleting the account from Mac Mail. The moved message remains in the "On My Mac" mailbox. Re-adding the IMAP account to Mail makes the server mailboxes available again.
Note that the situation would be different for an account accessed through POP, depending on mail retention settings. Any mail which had been downloaded to your Mac, deleted from the server immediately of after a period of time, but left in Mac Mail's Inbox for that POP account, would truly be lost if you delete the POP account from your Mac. This may be the situation of which you were warned. -
IPhone 5 won't let me set up yahoo mail it just says cannot connect to server
I've just set up my mother in laws new iPhone 5 and everything was fine until I tried to set up yahoo mail, i just got a message saying cannot connect to server, any ideas how to fix?
Also has signal issues compared to 4s.

E75 not connecting to corporate (IMAP) mail server
Cannot connect my new E75 to corporate IMAP mail server (Exchange), using SSL/TLS.
I have E71, and this device connects with same settings to corporate email without problems.
The same E75 connects to Gmail perfectly.
The most weird is that it connected once, downloaded three arbitrary emails and that is it, no connection anymore.
I am not using MfE, because I do not like MfE usability, I am using "regular" POP/IMAP version of the email client.
Does anyone have any helpful hints? Thank you!If one searches the web there are many similar problems being faced on this device (E75) - whether you use GroupWise or Exchange. We have used the IMAP client on all previous Nokia phones upto and including the E71 with total success. That includes accessing the same mail boxes - E71 100% E75 only works with HTML mail - not text or richtext. Nokia representatives have been to our offices and seen the problem - they believe its an incompatibility between the new IMAP client and mail servers - what they don't know - are trying to find out if we can load an older IMAP client -
One would think NOKIA would look into this and let everyone know what the problem is and any solution. This kind of thing without speed communication chases people away from a brand and its hard to get them back.
Nokia please help all the users experiencing problems. -
