Cannot connect to wifi internet at home
I just got my macbook pro (13inch) two months ago and for the first week everything was fine. After that week I have been unable to connect to the internet at home. I have connected in public places and at friends houses without a problem. My ipad and itouch connect at home without excellent speed using airport express. Sometimes it says it is connected but when i try to browse the web, one page opens and it disconnects. I have reset and reinstalled everything i could thing of. Anyone have an idea of why this is happening?

Cannot connect to wifi: Only at home!
Okay, I'm at my wits end here. About a month ago my 13"MBP stopped connecting to MY wireless network/internet. It works everywhere else, no exceptions.
Sooo...I tried the usual: Permissions, Keychain, Service Order, Security types (WEP, WPA, None, etc). Nothing. So I assumed it was the router (Belkin N1).
I'm now on my 3rd router (another Belkin, Linksys, and now a D-link) and nothing works. I know they are set up correctly (but you never know). I'm on Comcast, btw with a Motorola Surfboard SB5101 cable modem. Again, it all used to work fine! My iphone connects. My nephews iPod Touch connects. Not my mac. Grrr.
What gives? Why would my computer connect anywhere else but not at home? What haven't I tried yet?
Thanks in advance,
ScottTricky issue. I once had similar problems with a router and Leopard (not SL).
These days a Netgear and Snow Leopard works really well.
Anyway, I have some suggestions.
-As suggested does it connect without security? Would be interesting to know if the routers are at least giving it an IP address without WEP or WPA.
-Personally I'd use WPA over WEP. I had issues with WEP with Macs.
-When deleting your old settings (from the list in Network Preferences>Advanced>Airport tab) does it honour this and ask for a new password when you try and connect, or does it just try to connect using old settings?
Open /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ and in finder's search look for a .plist file with 'airport' in the title and delete it.
Then try and re-connect.
-reset the PRAM and SMC controller on your mac.
-use a different network name/password instead of using old settings. If you still get the error, try resetting the router to try and get it to assign an ip properly. -

i am trying to connect to my friend's wifi, i have a very strong signal indicated on my ipad, but cannot connect to the internet. Yesterday i connected without any problem, can anybody tell me why i cannot connect today?
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I have 2 Apple TV's in my home. One is 2nd Generation and the other is 3rd Generation. One one that is 2nd Gen cannot connect to the internet. First I restarted, the I rest it and I even changed the password. still no connection. So I purchased the 3rd Gen TV and I have to same problem, but they are in different rooms. Before I had no problem with my 2nd Gen TV, but then one day it did not connect. I even had my internet provider come and check my internet and it worked ok, but no connection with the Apple TV. I have tried everything but no results. Somebody please help me.
Regards,
RichardHi richardwilliams51,
If you are having difficulty connecting to the Internet using your Apple TV, I would suggest troubleshooting using the steps in this article -
Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4546
If that does not completely fix your Apple TV, you may need to restore it, using this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

My wifi shows a strong signal but then i cannot connect to the internet (safari or apps). what is wrong? internet is working fine on my laptop.
Is this a new issue with your iPad meaning that you have been able to connect to the Internet in the past?
If it worked before try rebooting your router - unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.
Sometimes restarting the iPad is all it takes as well. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You can also reset Network Settings - go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.Or go to Settings>WiFi>tap the blue arrow next to your network>Forget this Network. In either of those cases, you will have to rejoin your WiFi network and enter your password again. -
My wifi diagnostic says I am connected, but I cannot connect to the internet (safari), iCloud Mail, or any other sites. Help?
Power cycle (turn off and on) the router. In System Preferences -> Network, under WiFi does it say Self-Assigned IP Address? Click where it says location in the network's pane of WiFi, click edit location, click the plus icon and type 'test' and press done, then press apply on the next window. Click advanced then in the preferred networks tab, make sure your wifi network is at the top of the list, if it's not then drag it to the top, on the TCP/IP tab, click renew DHCP lease, on the DNS tab, click the plus icon at the bottom left, add two new dns servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, press OK, then press APPLY on the next window. restart the mac and see if it's fixed.

Wifi is working but cannot connect to the internet
I am using windows 8.1
My wifi is working - my iphone and ipad can use it and my PC is connected to my broadband but I cannot connect to the internet. I have turned everything off and on a number of times.
I am totally stuck as to how to fix this.Presumably you are connecting by Ethernet. Has this just started to happen or have you never been able to connect?
Have you tried changing the cable, is it plugged in correctly, have you tried plugging it into different ports on the homehub?
Have you checked that the computers firewall is not set to block connections, see link
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/windows-firewall-from-start-to-finish
If you are not using the Windows fiewall have you checked to see if your antivirus/firewall is blocking connection? -
My Macbook running 10.8.5 cannot connect to any internet. Finds no Wifi

Never had any problems with my macbook at all, if somebody could offer some advice that would be great.

Airport Extreme (latest version.)
Do you mean the new, tall ones just released?
Try just re-selecting the drive as the destination.
If that doesn't help, try a hard reset of the Airport per Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ (if you do have the new model, that article may not apply to it. See the Setup Guide that came with it).
If still no help, try a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting. -

Cannot Connect to the Internet ?
So I am a new iPad user
very new 3 weeks
It started this morning when I downloaded updates to some of my apps - I then sync'd it with my itunes on my windows vista pc...then i noticed that the iPad screen looked really heavily pixelated in some of the apps, that weren't normally pixelly
I tried restoring my settings on the iPad only, this did not delete my apps or data
then it asked me for my wifi password again, which I put in
I then tried to access the internet on safari, and through various other apps, I get the error message, "cannot connect to the internet"
I tried syncing it again this evening, and still nothing
I am not sure what to do....Have your:
- Reset your iPad:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset network settings:
Settings>General>Reset Network Settings
- Powering off and then back on your iPad.

iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

Then:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
