Cannot control duration of transistions, Part II

I don't know how the http:// got inserted on the line on my previous post.
It should say
[Ctrl click on transition/change duration] doesn’t work.
Also, the cross out lines appeared from nowhere.
Probably happened because I composed the msg. on a word processor then cut and pasted the text to this message board.

I cannot change/control duration of transitions. I’ve tried every combination of possibilities I can think of.
How long are the segments between which you are transitioning? Transitions applied to any given segment/clip are limited to the "whole integer" half duration of the shortest segment being joined. As an example, if you were joining three NTSC 4 second "still frame" sequences, the first transition would be limited to 2 seconds. Since iMovie '08 considers a 2 second interval to consist of a series of frames beginning with a "zero" frame and ending with a frame 1 second and 29 frames later, this amount is subtracted from each of the first two 4 second sequences leaving each 2 seconds and 1 frame in length. Although the last "still frame" sequence is still 4 seconds long, the transition between it and the second sequence is now limited to only 1 second because that is the "whole integer" half duration of the second segment which was reduced to 2 seconds and 1 frame by the addition of your first transition. And so on down the line it goes. Luckily this only becomes a problem when joining short clips or segments.

You are looking at the drop-down menus at the top of iTunes e.g. on a Mac :
If you are on iTunes 11 on Windows then press Alt-S and the Store menu should appear at the top.

  • HSL Panel cannot control individual colors in the photos. Using the target tool and the colors change in the entire photo.?

HSL Panel.  When using the targeted tool I cannot control individual colors in the photo.  In Luminance the entire photo is changing not just one area?

Yes, that's the way it works. The target tool is simply a way to pick a colour to modify, but all colours like that one, no matter where they are in the image, will be modified.

Are your MC Mix in Eucon mode? If you use a midi mode, there's a possibility the MC Mix is sending MIDI messages. And are you sure we're talking midi parts and not automation?

    Hi Wikowiko!
If you want to be able to control your Apple TV through your iPad, you will want to download a free app from Apple called Remote. An article we have published online can help you understand more of the features of the Remote app, and can be found here:

  • Cannot control/observe but can send commands and update apps

I've researched the discussions here and basically came up with several ways of fixing the problem. Also I see I am not the only one with this particular problem.
Ok with that said, here are the details.
I am running a G5 behind a linksys wireless router (g5 is hard wired to the ethernet port of the router), my router is set up to open ports 5900 and 3283 just for ARD 2.0. The ports are pointing to my mac's IP address given by the router. I currently use optimum online for my internet usage, so basically I have a static IP address. From work I can access my G5, control/observe, update, etc...
I also have set up ARD on my mothers imac, she sits behind a verizon dsl modem, and an old netgear router I used at one point. I have the router set up the same way, ports 5900 and 3283 are opened up for tcp and udp. From her machine I can actually connect to my G5 at home and control/observe, etc..
My main problem is when I am on the G5 and try to connect to her machine, I can only send messages, update software but cannot visually observe or control her mac. I've gone and had her change the tcp port to 10000 and no luck with control or observe. I then had her delete ARD with an application I found over the net (appdelete). I had her install ARD client and set it up from scratch again. Nothing... I have spoken with verizon IT and they aren't blocking any ports. I am at my wits end, can't figure this one out. OH, I also tried disconnecting the router and had my mother connect the dsl modem straight to the imac and still cannot control or observe. Within ARD It tells me what program she is running, etc... because of port 3283 but that's about it. I know everyone here has given alot of information. But is there something I am missing?
Could it be a hardware issue (mac or router)? or software?

I've tested timbuktu pro 8.6 and I can access my G5 at home the same way as ARD, I just had to open up the port 5901 and set up the user prefs. My only issue is going to be setting up my mothers imac with timbuktu. crossing my fingers to see if it works tonight. If there are any other thoughts out there please feel free to tell me.

  • Device online, but cannot control camera from Capture screen

I have a the camcorder listed below connected to my computer through a firewire card (also listed below), and I'm trying to capture video from tape with Premiere Pro CS4.  The camera is online, and if I use the controls on the camera player to play the tape, the video shows in the capture preview, but I cannot control the camera from the capture screen.
Device Control is set to DV/HDV, and set device to Samsung.
Any idea what's going on here?
    Operating System: Windows XP Professional
Sound card / driver version: SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio driver:5.12.1.5246
Video capture card / driver: Texas instruments OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 firewire card, driver:5.1.2535.0
    Camcorder: Samsung SC-D363 miniDV, driver:5.1.2600.0
    - Amanda, Carolina Tiger Rescue

Yes, the record button is live, just the controls to control the tape deck in the camera are greyed out.
I have since borrowed a Sony DCR-HC42 to capture from, and the controls are working for it.  However, it will not capture by setting In Points and Out Points,  I just have to position the tape as best as possible, record and select when to stop the recording stop from the Preview.  It's not ideal, but it's getting the job done.
This sort of problem seems to be par for the course when using Premiere on a pc. Users just have to plan on a few days to resolve compatability issues that should not have existed.
so for the moment, no critical issues, but once this project is done I will need to revisit the problem.
    thanks for the help!  Amanda

  • Screen Sharing.app fails through ssh tunnel with "You cannot control your own screen"

I need to control a remote Mac mini running 10.7 through an ssh tunnel.  I've set up ssh with -L for the appropriate ports, and bound my local ports 5900 and 5800 through this.
When I connect to 127.0.0.1 with Screen Sharing.app on my macbook pro which runs 10.8.4, it says "You cannot control your own screen" however, screen sharing is not enabled locally on my machine, I'm trying to access a remote machine.
I tried something else.  I created an alias IP of 127.0.0.2 on lo0, and tried again, and got the same thing, so it's doing an ifconfig and looking through all the IPs to see if the IP address of what I'm trying to connect to is bound locally, which defeats the purpose of tunneling through SSH.  I don't wish to setup a VPN.
How do I let the Screen Sharing.app know that I'm not trying to connect to my own machine and it should skip this check.
I've also tried with another app, Chicken of the VNC, and that almost works.  It connects and shows a login screen desktop to the target machine, but I'm unable to click on any of the account icons displayed in order to login, and all key presses such as tab, space, and enter are ignored.
When at the location (on the same vlan as the target machine) I'm able to remote into it just fine with screen sharing.app, but Chicken of the VNC has the same issue of showing a login screen, but not allowing logins to it.

Your ssh command should look something like:
    ssh -L 22590:localhost:5900 remove.mac.system.address
    Then you connect using
    Finder -> Go -> Connect to server -> vnc://localhost:22590
Have you been doing anything close to that?

  • I cannot control the sensor on my Mac, it moves by itself, and opens different pages. What can cause this problem? please help me.

I cannot control the sensor on my Mac, it moves by itself, and opens different pages. What can cause this problem? please help me.

There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps until it's resolved.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article.
    2. Reset the System Management Controller.
    3. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    4. A swollen battery in a MacBook Pro or Air can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced.
    5. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built in trackpad of a MacBook to  behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    6. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    7. If none of the above applies, or if you have good reason to think your computer is being controlled remotely, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi, disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop immediately, you should suspect an intrusion.

Since upgrading to IOS 6 I cannot control the music from my car stereo, nor are the artist, song, or album  names no longer displayed. Worked with IOS 5.

Do you drive a BMW? If so, my friend has the same problem. It is a problem with your car's software, probably, not the iPhone.

  • TS3274 I cannot control the volume on my iPad 2

I cannot control the volume on my iPad 2.  It works for about the first 5-10 seconds after start up.  After that the volume control does not work and no sound for any apps.  Any help?

I have tried both, neither works.  As state in my original post, after I restart or reset the iPad the volume control is only available for about 5-10 seconds.  After that the sound shuts off and I cannot get the controls to respond.  Double clicking the home button and swiping to the right, the volume control slider is not there, and mute is not turned on.

  • Cannot control iTunes volume after wake up

I have an external Altec Lansing sound system on my Mac Pro late 2013. It has always worked perfectly well… until I upgraded to Yosemite that is. It is still working perfectly well till I put the Mac Pro to sleep.
After wake up, I cannot control the volume anymore. The usual keyboard commands will modify the slider but this have no effect whatsoever on the volume level.
If I restart the Mac Pro, everything works perfectly well again.
    What about this?
Thanks for taking the time :-D

  • I cannot control the duration of a subtitle in iMovie HD 6

I am using a set of photos to create a slideshow/movie. By default each photo is set for a duration of 5 seconds, which is fine. However, when I add a subtitle to one of the photos, the duration is changed to 4:28 seconds, which is a little too quick. I am unable to change the title to have a longer duration. If I use the slider to change it to 5 seconds, I get a message that the title is too long for this part of the movie. This appears to be a contradiction since the title is not too long when the duration is less.
Could someone advise as to whether I am doing something wrong or this a quirk in the program? Thanks for your assistance!

That's great! Glad I was able to help.
Generally, you are correct that you need to first remove the title and any added special effects before changing the duration of a photo. There is an exception, however.
If you start out with, say, a 10 second duration photo, and then insert a title that displays for only 6 seconds, you can shorten the photo by placing your cursor on the edge of the photo and, after the cursor changes shape, you can drag the edge of the photo up to the point where the title fades from the screen, or even farther if you want. (Before dragging, you need first to deselect Show Clip Volume Levels in the View menu.) I like to start with a long duration photo, and then after adding the title I can shorten the photo by dragging its edge so that the title fits the way I want it.
Try experimenting with the dragging option to see what you can do. I'm typing on my PC at the moment, and don't have access to my Mac.
