Cannot copy file, file is in use

Macbook pro 13 mid 2009 with Yosemite fresh install. (i have the same problem with the old MacOSX).
When i try to copy a file, or a bunch of files, to the wdtvlivehub i have the message error "cannot copy file, the file is in use".
I try the following:
- in the wdtvlivehub activated the DNLA, WINDOWS and Itunes Server (and the linux).
- try both via wifi and ethernet
- repair permission on disk
- deactivate the show miniatures on the mac and on the wdtvlivehub
- drag & drop the file and cut e copy via keyboard or with the right click of the pad or mouse
- connect the wdtvlivehub via SMB, CIFS
- Try with AFP but i get a error message
- with an app i search for a program that block the file but it didn't find anything
-Basically i try everything suggest in this board and over the web but nothing resolve the problem.
The file sometimes been copied but i have to try a billion times....not so comfort in this.
What i have to do?

Hi,
We often see this file in use when the file has not been closed. Is it just a regular file that was opened and how did you open it? I use AppleScript to close it if it was opened with AppleScript.
Edited: try this: Run Script Editor. Enter:
set f to choose file -- select the file
close access f
run it in Script Editor.

Bummer! I read something about getting this error due to insufficient permissions, but I attempted to install as local admin and didn't work either. So I just uninstalled Adobe reader from the servers I was having this issue with, at least until a solution is available (?). I'm not happy, it is not convenient if I have to use another machine to view PDFs, but I'd rather be inconvenienced than have unpatched servers. Thanks for responding...let's hope Adobe responds...

Cannot copy mp3 files to ipod after 4.3.1 OS update

I updated my iPod Touch to 4.3.1. Now when I open iTunes and try to copy mp3 files to my iPod the cursor turns into a circle with a line across it indicating I cannot copy the files. I manually sync as I select a few items from my PC library. This method has worked fine for years. Only failed after 4.3.1 update. Any ideas? I have rebooted both PC and iPod several times. No joy.

Here's why I know the problem is Apple and NOT a problem with the aftermarket cables.
I have a total of (6) aftermarket cables. These cables support several Apple devices (iPod Touch, iPod Classic, iPod Nano, and iPad)in different locations. All (6) of these aftermarket cables have worked just fine for many months. After the update to 4.3.1 on my iPod Touch, NONE of these cables work on my iPod Touch, but the original Apple iPod cable works fine. These aftermarket cables still work fine on my other Apple products that have not been updated.
It is beyond comprehension that all (6) aftermarket cables have failed only on my iPod Touch while working fine on all my other Apple devices. Hence my comment, Apple has become truly pathetic. They now demand your dollars for overpriced cables. As this change to the OS is without a public announcement and after I have purchased cables from other vendors I stand by my conclusion.
Oh, and Apple wants to charge for support to tell you why their OS 4.3.1 upgrade broke your product. That adds insult to injury.

Is there a way to set the ACLs on a folder so that users cannot copy a file?
I have a customer that wants to put an employee handbook into a FORMS FOLDER. But he doesn't want users to be able to copy the file into other folders or onto removable media.
Admittedly, I have never run into this before and my testing hasn't yielded an answer...
Any Ideas?

Use third party software for security management (http://www.wave.com/ ,

https://www.lumension.com/, etc) . Standard access rights that come with operating system do not go beyong permission/share schema.

Build Issues - cannot copy phonegap files

All was working fine last week. I haven't personally modified any files or locations. I contacted Adobe support, but they said it was a plugin issue so no help from them. I also noticed that Adobe hasn't answered to this same problem posted before in the forums. What's up with that?

I'm running Dreamweaver 11.5 Build 5344 in Windows XP.

I searched high and low on the internet for weeks trying to find a
solution, I finally decided I would pay Adobe for an answer... So I
called their paid support line. I was told that it would cost $40,
but I had spent so much time that $40 seemed OK. After talking to
someone that didn't know much, but was able to replicate the error,
he directed me to Level 2 support. He never ask for a credit card or
any payment.
When I called the level 2 support, it said that it would cost
$240.... That was quite steep, but since I had wasted much more than
that on non productivity, I proceeded.
I got ahold of someone (they must of been in India), a little bit
hard to understand. She wanted to link to my desktop to watch what
was happening. After she looked at a couple of things, she
immediately when to this solution, and it worked.. She also did not
ask for payment.
I don't know how they can say it is someone elses problem, as they
own phonegap, and jquery in part of dreamweaver, and all I was doing
is creating a new jquery / phonegap application from their included templates.
I am just glad after days of struggling, we have a solution.

Oracle R Enterprise installation ERROR: cannot copy dll file

This is bit strange, I posted this message in 2 forums but surprisingly can't find it anymore!! Anyways, I would appreciate if anyone can help me a bit on this issue:
I am having trouble installing ORE 1.3 on my windows 7 (home premium, personal notebook) 64 bit. I strictly followed the installation note and made sure all the path variables are defined properly. My R version is 2.15.1. My Windows user is a member of ora_dba group as can be seen below.

Hi all,
I have finally solved the problem, it seems somehow on my windows home premium I can't run the install script (on H:\ ) from the command line. I manually ran the batch script by double clicking on it, it ran fine and I was finally able to install ORE (server + supported + client) on my laptop. Now the connection -- followed through the manual, created user and granted all the roles. Now that I want to test the connection, I open R console and below are the input and output error message though it seems I can connect to the database:

I cannot copy large files from my hard drive

My MacBook Pro 15 is on OS X 10.8.5 (12F37) and I reformatted my external hard drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) but cannot copy my virtual machine 53GB file from my hard drive to the external drive.

As I said before you should test your suggestions to ensure that they are correct, and you should do that prior to suggesting them, and It would help if you understood the difference between a file and a partition.

Cannot copy mp3 files from CD

Hi All,
I've some cd's which contain mp3 files. These were burnt using a windows machine. When I try to copy these files into my mac, it gives an error 'Insufficient Privilege'.
I'm able to browse through the CD, but i'm not able to play any songs from it.
I checked the CD access rights, and its a 'read-only'. Will this be a problem for me to copy files? Is there any way that I could copy these files?

Cannot copy some files from my mac to any external disk whatever format the disk might be in

i sometimes face trouble copying some large movies for example to an external drive, i use a section of this drive for time machine and the other for back up... but at times some movies cannot be copied an error occurs and the operation stops... please somebody help me, ive checked everything the files arent locked or passwprd protected... i can cut and paste them around different part of the internal drive but when i try moving it to an externl drive thats when the error occurs...

The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0).
This is the message I get everytime I try copying some of the files and it always happens to these files only the rest I can copy without issue... So what do you think the problem is??? Thanks in advance

Cannot copy (some) files to NAS

I'm trying to copy some .potx-files (PowerPoint templates) to a NAS-server and get an error message (in danish) that says:
+"Handlingen kan ikke udføres, fordi du ikke har tilladelse til at få adgang til nogle af emnerne."+
Translated it sounds something like:
+"The action can not be completed because you do not have permission to access some of the files."+
- I can copy a .jpg-file to the same NAS-share without any problems.
- This error occurs once in a while for some files...
- I have read/write permission to the files and can copy/move them to any other location on the Mac.
- I have tried different shares on the NAS and the same error occurs ... but only for these files. Not the jpg, or any other file.

I have read other threads that indicate there is a Finder bug relating to NAS drives in 10.6.x
Have you tried using a third party utility like Chronosync?

Cannot copy/quickview files/photos in CF cards

I use Canon EOS 7D with a Sandisk 32G CF card (60MB/s) for my photography. I remembered Mountain Lion was able to copy all of my photos from the CF card, but Marvericks won't do that: It simply ejects the CF card automatically and copies nothing! The following dialog shows up after it fails.
I'm sure the CF card is in good condition because (1) I've erased the CF card using Disk Utility & the camera's formatting menu many many times; (2) I can use my PC (Win7 OS) to copy them, but I don't want to switch back and forth from Mac to Win7; (3) My cable and card reader works well.
I DO NEED SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM!!!

My initial thought is that error -36 is a general "I/O error". For drives that is usually due to one or more bad blocks on the disk. It's only a problem if you attempt to access those bad blocks. If they aren't accessed the disk behaves normally, i.e, you can read/write everything except the data in those bad blocks. Of course it is an indication that the disk really needs to be replaced.
So my thought is that those cards you are using are behaving the same way. You can access all the stuff except what's on the bad blocks. This is what you did by selectively copying the stuff off the card. It's good that you were able to salvage as much as you could off it. Like a hard drive, it means it's time to replace that card.
That's my theory anyway.

Cannot copy MOV files

I took video on my iphone 4 and want to transfer them to an ipad, first generation. During sync got the following message "some of the videos in itunes library could not be copied to the ipad because they cannot be played on this ipad"...any idea why and how I can fix it?

Here are the formats the first generation iPad supports. MOV files are included. But note the formats are limited, as the first generation iPad does not have a camera.

since upgrading iTunes to 10.5 I've been having issues copying MP4 movie files to my iPad 2. I initally thought it was due to the iPad not having ios5. have since upgraded it and am still having the issue. spoke to apple support. Got me to reset ipad (home and power button till the apple appears) this has resolved it.

10.6.x clients cannot copy image files to 10.4.11 Server

Three clients - 2 MB, 1 MP, all 10.6.x - freeze and must restart finder any time they try to copy any format image file to the 10.4.11 Server. Server is a graphite G4. One client on the network is a G5 running 10.5.8 and can copy the same exact files with no problem.

Past migrations can get pretty messy.
I'm sure the root of your problem lies in your ldapv3 settings; including contacts and searches
Revisit the directory settings, via system prefs--> accounts.
Look for older "migrated" setting that are no longer needed.

Cannot copy/paste files from clone of Snow Leopard installation into clean Lion installation.

I cloned my hard drive onto an external USB drive using disk utility and then erased the internal drive to install Lion onto. 70% of anything I copied from the clone of my 10.6 installation into its new home in Lion just disappeared as soon as I copied it. For example, I copied my old documents folder into its corresponding place in Lion, and the size reduced from ~3.5GB to ~1GB. Does anyone know why this is?
For obvious reasons, I restored my clone to my internal hard drive using disk utility so I could use 10.6 again, so I can't reasonably do any real troubleshooting until I find time to commit to experimentation. Is this a known bug that will be worked out in 10.7.1?

2009 with mountain lion isntalled
The original disc that came with the Mac won't work with Mountain Lion v10.8 installed. Disk repairs are done via the internet using OS X Recovery.
Since the Mac won't boot, restart while holding down the Command + R keys so you can access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk > OS X Recovery

As the standard of SAP provide us to be able to copy data from Delivery by routine only : FwdAgent, Route and Deadline, so if you would like to copy other datas from delivery , you can use the user exit : EXIT_SAPLV56F_010 to copy other datas from Delivery to Shipment.
