Cannot Copy Music or Video to iPad or iPhone

I recently tried to sync some new music to my iPad and it did not copy. When I look at the music currently held on my ipad through itunes the tracks are there but have not copied. They are greyed out, have the still to copy icon beside them and have no size at all. On the iPad these placeholders do not appear. The same situation exists on my iphone as welll and it also happens with videos . I have reinstalled itunes and the issue still persists. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any ideas to fix it?
I am using the latest version of itunes on windows 7 professional 64 bit
The iPad 3 has the latest version of iOS7

There have been many threads here about this. I think the thing to try is to "de-sync" first, so that all your music is cleared off the iPad, then try syncing again. Let us know how this goes.

My iPad 16GB installediOS 8.1.1 upgrade and now cannot open Music and Videos apps...HELP?

Since yesterday morning about 11:00 I have been having TERRIBLE email problems on this iPad 3G. Email comes in (I hear the sound) but nothing displays -- no folders, no content, no nothing in e-mail. The blank email screen shows up and then disappears after about 10 seconds, taking me back to the Home Screen.
Right now, the only way I can see email on this device is to log onto AOL via the AOL app.
I have been doing a lot of online reading about the problem. It has to do with iOS 8.1.3 and it affects older iPads and iPhones. I'm having no problems on my iPod touch, which -- fortunately -- is so old it cannot update its iOS 6.
I waited to update the iOS on this iPad until iOS 8 was "mature." That was about 2 weeks ago.
Anybody know know if Apple is aware? working on a solution?

  • How do I copy music and video from my iPod to a new PC?

My itunes PC no longer works.  How can I copy music and video from my iPod to a new PC?

You can't transfer music from an iPod to a PC.  Apple do not provide that facility.  It can be done with third party software though.  There are a variety of these available though so search google for 'ipod to itunes'.

    I. Cannot find a book on my iPad or iPhone but it's on my computer. I bought on iTunes.... Help?

Audiobooks cannot be redownloaded, so you cannot do this from an iPad or iPhone, at least not without intervention from the iTunes Store. If you have a computer at home, log into your iTunes Store account and look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for available downloads" command and run that. You may find the audiobook there to be downloaded.
If not, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department from their Support page (click "Contact Support" and follow the instructions to get to the contact form) and explain the problem to them.
    Regards.

just checked everything through and this is deffinately the public beta of iCloud as it simlily doesnt come up in the  settings of ipad or iphone. However the current firmware i am using isnt an itunes download, as i have downgraded and all itunes synced apps onto both the iPad and iphone crash when i open them, is this because i have downloaded the firmware from a third party? i have treble checked that the firmware is NOT hacked and is just a host's official apple firmware, so i cannot understand why this problem is occuring?

  • I cannot sync my Notes between my ipad, my iphone and my mac, despite setting Notes to sync with iCloud

I cannot sync my Notes between my ipad, my iphone and my mac, despite setting Notes to sync with iCloud. Any Suggestion?

    perfect. ok do the following:
settings > mail, contacts, calendars > go into the exchange account. You should have an email in the account field...[email protected] or [email protected], etc.... I am assuming you don't remember the password to this exchange account so once you know the email, you can go to email providers site and click on forgot password and you will go through the steps to get a new password. Once you do this, you will need to go back into your "exchange account " and the field that has the exchange email > touch the > to open settings. Change the password to your new password you got from above. Once you do this, you can add the exchange account to your ipad and all of your contacts will sync to both devices.
    Please confirm.

  • I cannot transfer large home videos from iPad to Windows XP

I have tried third party apps, copy and paste. Cannot get my home videos to transfer to my PC.

I am new to Apple products. This is very confusing to me. I can see my iPad in divices under camera and scanners. When I click on the icon I only have a few choices for transfering. For small videos I can use Scanner and Camera Wizzard with no problems. Anything over 500mb will not transfer. I have also tried PhotoSync, but I cannot get a connection. I have tried to drag and drop, copy and paste. I called Apple support and they had no solution. I just know there has to be a way to get my home videos from the iPad to my PC Windows XP Pro.

  • Cannot sync music and videos to an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.0 b1 on iTunes 11.2.2

    Hey everyone.
Yesterday, I decided to take the leap to iOS 8.0 beta 1 on my iPhone 5.  So far, things have been working ok (with the expected bugs here and there), except for this one thing above.
After I got it all installed on my iPhone, I then proceeded to restore from my most recent backup that I made prior to the install of this first beta of iOS 8.0.  All that other stuff (my contacts, apps, and ringtones) came back just fine.  For some reason, when it got to the part with syncing my music and videos, it was able to initally get them copied over, but then iTunes would get stuck on either "waiting for items to copy" or "waiting for changes to be applied".  I remember this same thing happening last year when I updated to iTunes 11 as well.
Is there any workaround I can do to get this to work, or am I going to have to wait for the next update of iTunes to come out?  What I'm guessing is that I won't be able to sync these things right now as the current version of iTunes only has full support for up to the most recent public release of iOS, 7.1.1.  Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Also, I have one other little error to ask about.  After clicking on check for updates from the menubar, for some reason after checking for updates to iTunes it will show this message: "The iPhone software update server could not be contacted.  An unknown error occurred (-50)."  My iPhone isn't even connected to my Mac right now in any form, whether it would be by a lightning cable or wifi.

Same issue that everyone else is having with me, and I'm also upset with Apple. Hardware is superlative, but software keeps going downhill.  I'm running OSX 10.9 anditunes 11.4.  I've tried every sync fix that may have worked for others, but nothing works for me.  iTunes was great in the beginning, but the programmers seem dedicated to cutting its knees off with redesign that is inane instead of intuitive,, dropped feaqures, etc. I even hear the itunes 12 drops the sidebar!!  I am getting the clear impression that the itunes group is a dumping ground for the rest of Apple. Fix this sync problem now. At a minum just re-use the code that worked before. N.

Is it possible to copy music and photos from the Ipad to the Imac without syncing

With content purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
You need to transfer your iTunes library and your photos from your PC to your Mac along with all other important data from your PC that you will want or need to access on your Mac - no different when switching from one computer to another under any circumstances.

  • Cannot copy music to iphone

Trying to help out my daughter who has an iPhone and uses her mother's iTunes account.   Recently her mother's hard drive crashed.  The iTunes library was regularly backed up to a backup hard drive.  I installed a new hard drive on her computer (windows XP).  After installing iTunes on the new hard drive, I moved the iTunes folder on the backup drive to the computer's new main hard drive. The computer has been "authorized" within iTunes.   Everything is working fine.  Playing songs in iTunes is not a problem.  Today my daughter purchased 2 new songs on that computer.  After plugging in her iPhone she was unable to drag the 2 songs from the iTunes music library into her iPhone.  There is no error message....you just get the circle with the slash through it.   She tried also creating a playlist and dragging that but it wouldn't work either.    Also tried copying some older songs to her iPhone but that wouldn't work either.   Have no clue why this is happening.   One other thing we tried....on the summary tab of the iPhone (within the iTunes app), her iPhone shows  the box "manually manage music and videos" as UNCHECKED.  When I checked it and tried to apply the change, it said it had to erase and sync everything on her iPhone first because it was using a different library.  This is odd because her mother's account hasn't changed....just the hard drive.  I was reluctant to try this so I clicked cancel.  Am worried it would wipe all her songs on her iPhone and we still wouldn't be able to copy anything down.    She is logged on under her mother's iTunes account like she always is so I don't know what the problem is.  Oddly enough, we plugged in her mother's old iPod shuffle and had no problems dragging the 2 new songs into it.  Steve Jobs....help me first before you leave!!!

Syncing via iTunes is only one way and that is from iTunes to the iPhone.  The only exception to this is iTunes purchases.  You can copy these to your new iTunes library by connecting the iPhone to your library and choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
For all other content purchased from outside of the iTunes Store, you'll need to download/purchase third party software to assist you with the task.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering a few different possibilities.

  • When i add a book, music or video to ipad via itunes it keeps trying to add deleted files on the ipad previously. Why?

No major problem, just takes a lot of unecessary time. Whenever i do either of the following functions of adding a video, book, or a music file. Itunes keeps checking for the previously deleted files on the ipad and i dont know why. My problem is that if i just want to add ONE single file i will take more time because it does that silly thing. Any suggestion why this happens and how can be fixed?
    My current settings are:
(TICK) Prevent ipad from syncing automatically,
(TICK) Manually manage music and videos,

If it's any consolation i've just had a similar thing happen. Went to add a playlist and it wiped 35 gig of music off my iPod touch 64g in a nanosecond. I've got the latest iTunes and osx but do not back up because i keep different styles of music (and loads of it) in separate libraries and devices which i don't want mixed together. All my stuff is burned from cd so it's not lost for good and i've got a hard drive with the "lost" mp3 music on it but even so it will take literally weeks to prune the tracks for my iPod to be the same again. Why do they make it so difficult to manage your music on these things. I have massive amounts of music on my computer so autofill is a disastrous unusable gimmick to me. The whole thing seems to be aimed at 9 year old kids with about 6 mp3's on their phone rather than serious music lovers (for example accessing EQ is a joke let alone the lack of a manual option). I'm a dj and use apple for that reason but to be honest i'm beginning to wonder why. I'm absolutely livid. The weird thing is that my mac still shows the titles of the missing tunes in the 'on my device' window but as my macbook storage display shows no increase i'm pretty sure it's all gone. Nightmare. I have no confidence in this device anymore and could barely use the previous osx 8.2 anyway. Why they have to change it every ten minutes is beyond me. As the old saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' but this format just gets more broken every time they update. An absolute disgrace. Why not just drag and drop or delete. No wonder the iPod is said to be a dying device, it's for music, it is not a phone. Not fit for purpose anymore. I can't be bothered to read a massive 'how to use' article every update. Good technology should be easier and more intuitive with each new version. I suppose i'll have to phone apple at my expense to find out what's going on, or maybe that's the whole idea. Very very very not happy.
