Cannot copy photos from HP Photosmart with Windows Vista

I know how to copy photos onto my iPod (30G) and have done so before. I recently bought a new computer with Vista and cannot copy photos from my Pictures folder. I get a message that says, "Some of the photos...were not copied to the iPod...because they cannot be displayed on your iPod." What can I do to help fix this? I have tried resizing and using Adobe Photoshop and I get the same message.
Thanks for the help.

I use Picasa. You don't have to use iTunes at all. Connect the phone with the USB cable and launch the app of your choice, such as Picasa. Click the "Import" button at the upper left. Your iPhone should appear in the dropdown of choices to import from. You can then import all or some of the photos in the Camera Roll. You should be able to do the same thing with Microsoft Picture Manager or any other photo management program.
The reason that Elements is the only choice is that's the only one that iPhoto on the phone recognizes albums in.
You cannot move photos INTO the Camera Roll from your computer; it's a one-way transfer. But you can sync photos to the Photos app on the iPhone. You either use Elements, or just create a folder on your computer for photos to sync, then create a sub-folder for each album you want on your computer. Copy the photos to each album, then go to the Photos tab in iTunes and select the top-level folder. When you sync each sub-folder will become an album on the iPhone.
However, I consider the photo app on the iPhone rather limited and klunky. Instead I use the app MyPics from the app store. It syncs photos from my Picasa Web albums directly to the phone over the air. I can also create albums in Picasa Web from the phone, and upload images from the Camera Roll directly to Picasa Web.
Another way to get photos (and other files) to and from the phone is Dropbox and similar cloud-based storage solutions.

Same problem here, and it's not isolated.

I believe you will find you can again sync Photos if you delete the "iPod Photo Cache", but predict that any subsequent attempt will fail.  In my case, the enxt sync removes all the photos again - I've seen other reports of error messages upon sync.  Mine just fails silently. :-)

  • Cannot copy photos from camera roll to a synch folder

I cannot copy any photo stored in Camera Roll to folder that synch's with my PC.  > "PC Synch Folder"<    I am using iphone 4s and iPad 3.   Happens to both iDevices.
On the iDevice the "PC Synch Folder" is greyed out when trying to do a copy.   In fact, I cannot even delete that folder from either iDevices.
For what it's worth, I can create a new folder on either iDevice and copy from Camera Roll to it.  Fine.  But that folder will not talk to the folder that I want to synch with my PC.  Strange?
The folder "PC Synch Folder" will indeed sych any picture I put in there from the PC side.   However, what is in there, does not show up in Camera Roll.  What I have in Camera roll cannot be transferred into the "PC Synch Folder"   It's like there is a wall between the folders.
Hence the problem is ...  pictures taken on either iDevices cannot be transferred back to my PC!   I don't want this !
This seems most odd.  Have I done something dumb and simple?

Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC:
On a Windows PC the easiest way to get pictures from your iPhone is to just use Windows Explorer, but there’s two ways to go about this:
Plugin your iPhone to the computer without iTunes running
Wait for a popup asking you what you want to do with the device
    Select “View Content”
Find your photos through the folders that are displayed
    Copy in Windows as usual
If your iPhone is already plugged into your PC, you can try this method:
Plugin your iPhone to your PC
    Open “My Computer”
Find your iPhone, it will appear as any other camera would
Open iPhone to find your Photos
Select the pictures you want to copy to your computer and copy/paste them into the desired location on your PC

  • Cannot copy photos from iPhone to Aperture or iPhoto

I've had this problem before: when connecting the iphone to the mac, and opening either Aperture or iPhoto, the images on the iPhone don't show up. Just empty squares, and an incorrect number of them. I followed the advice to delete photos from the iPHone until I killed the one that is causing the problem. That has worked in the past. Today, I've deleted them all. The iPhone is empty, but still iPhoto and Aperture think there are 73 images and presents them as outlines.
How do I get this straightened out?

    RADumas,
It appears the photo files themselves became damaged at some point; restoring your iPhone wouldn't change this. This symptom usually doesn't indicate "phantom files"; they're the original files, but they're damaged to the point where they are unreadable.
Have you tried importing the photos using Image Capture? Also, if you try to import these images using a test user account, does the same issue occur?
Mac OS X 10.5 Help: Creating a new user account
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
If you restore your iPhone, setting it up as a new phone, this should erase the damaged photos from the iPhone (I assume you are viewing these files using the import options in iPhoto/ Aperture) and resolve any other software issues the iPhone may be experiencing.
If the test user or Image Capture does not allow you to import your photos, the only real solution to this would be if you had a known good backup of these photos someplace else (like an external hard disk drive, a CD/DVD, or another copy on your computer) that you could re-import into iPhoto or Aperture. This of course would mean at one point you were able to import these photos prior to this issue.

  • Cannot copy photos from iPhoto to iPod Nano

    Hello all,
This is my first post so please be gentle!
I have just purchased a new Nano. Everything works fine and dandy apart from viewing photos.
I have set up the Nano via iTunes to copy (sync) all photos. iTunes then optimises the photos and states it has copied them to the Nano. When I view them on the Nano they are not there. I have changed the amount I copy (sync?) from one folder to the whole lot with no effect.
    Am I doing anything wrong.
How much free space do I need in the first place?
What size does iTunes reduce the photos to?
    Please help me!

I'm not sure what's going on, but something you might want to try is to make an album in iPhoto with only three or four photos, and then set the iPod to only sync with that album. That should at least let you know if the feature works, and then you can play with sizes, etc. Also, you might want to make sure you have installed any available updates for your iPhoto, just to play it safe.

  • Cannot print photos from Shutterfly Studio or HP Photosmart Essential to Officejet J6480

I am unable to print photos from Shutterfly Studio or HP Photosmart Essential 3.5 to my Officejet J6480.  After I click print, the printer sounds like it's going to print, the "printing" message appears in the printer window, the light blinks, but then nothing happens.

I have a PC with Windows Vista but I cannot find my photo stream anywhere. I followed the directions on the FAQ but it led me nowhere. What do I do?

Well I linked to an article produced and hosted by Apple so I suppose if they have an issue with it the would have to spank themselves
In addition the US Supreme Court has ruled that making a copy of a DVD for personal use or as a backup is perfectly legal, we've been doing that with CDs for as long as it has been possible, same for video tapes.
What is illegal is breaking any DRM protection on the media (this holds true for all media not just DVDs) and actually even this is a bit murky. What is definitely illegal is to sell software to break DRM.  However if you write your own DRM breaking software and use it to make personal copies or backups the law gets real gray.
So again as long as there is no DRM involved its OK, with DRM you're best to leave it alone.

  • Hi there. Can someone please help me with copying photos from my old iPad to my new one? Thanks.

Hi there. Can someone please help me with copying photos from my old iPad to my new ipad2? Thanks.

If you have a pc, when you plug your iPad in you should see the windows pop up window offering to backup the photos. Do that and it will save all your photos and videos to your computer where you can then sync them back to your new one.
If the pop up doesn't come up, double click on my computer and navigate your way to the iPad. Double cick on it an d navigate to the DCIM folder. Drag your photos and videos to your pc, then sync them back onto your iPad.

hello everyone. I have recently installed a Samsung SSD (solid state hard drive) into my destop PC. For some reason Lightroom does not see it ? So i cannot ingest photos from it, or copy photos from a card to it. It is not listed as a drive option. LR sees every other drive. My computer sees it fine, so i was able to create a catalogue there. Im running windows 8.1. Any ideas ? I will also add that this drive became corrupt and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they didn't do a very good job.. ..

Yes pretty much that, but to clarify sorry
    Opened Lightroom.
    Create new catalogue.
This opened the Windows 8 file explorer window and Windows recognises the drive. So I was able to create a catalogue there and save.
I then inserted my memory card into my card reader which LR recognised. I selected it, chose all the photos within and then navigated to the right side of the Lr import dialogue window to locate this problem drive as on this occasion i want the RAW files on the same drive as the lrcat. However all my other drives are listed but not this Samsung SSD.
In addition this Samsung SSD is not listed a drive to import from in the same dialogue window.

  • Copying photos from one computer to another, with descriptions

After editing photo descriptions and locations in iPhoto, it is desireable to be able to copy them to iPhoto on another computer, with the associated photo descriptions and locations.  In principle, this is possible by selecting all desired photos, then selecting File -> Export...  In the Export dialog box, in the "File Export" tab, select "Include: Titles and keywords", and "Include: Location information".  Copy the exported files to the other computer, and do a File -> Import to Library ...
In practice, this works fine with images taken by some cameras, and not with images from others.  In my limited experience with a Fuji F80EXR and a Canon SX230HS, the above work flow works with the Fuji.  But, with the Canon, while the exported files clearly have the description data embedded in them (as seen by GraphicConverter), it is not imported into iPhoto, nor is it visible in Preview's Inspector.  The workaround I use is to run an exiftool command on the exported files.
Exiftool is a command line utility that can read and write meta data in image files:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
I run the following command on the exported files to rewrite the IPTC Caption:
exiftool −overwrite_original_in_place -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
Note that the above command overwrites the files that were exported from iPhoto.  If you wish to leave the original files intact, with an "_original" appended to the file name, run:
exiftool -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
I'm not sure why it is necessary to copy and rewrite that data.  Perhaps there is something strange in the format of the meta data in the file as it comes from the camera, and the iPhoto export does not correct this strangeness. Copying and rewriting the data by exiftool seems to put things right.
The above works for me, but is somewhat unwieldy.  Is there a better way to copy photos from one computer to another, if iPhoto refuses to import the description data that it was written to the exported files?

Thanks for the pointer.  I did a test with 10 images, and confirmed the iPLM works, even with the problematic images from my Canon SX230HS.
The workflow is to use iPLM to create a new Library on the computer that has the photos you want to copy.  Copy the photos to the new Library.  Copy the new Library to the second computer using a method of your choice (file sharing, USB flash drive, etc).  Copy the photos from the new Library to the existing iPhoto Library.
iPLM costs $20, whereas my original solution was free (but you need to invest the time to get exiftool installed and working).  But, unlike exiftools, iPLM also copies over the Faces information, so it is likely a worthwhile investment if you use that feature.

I am able to transfer my photos from my iPone 4s to my PC with Windows Vista but it won't transfer my videos? Does anyone know how to do this?

I have Vista (don't laugh) and my videos are transferred over when I plug in my phone.   They don't open up in Winodws Picture Viewer though.
They are under my Photos, under the date created by the sync.   Do a search I'm sure you'll find them.
