Cannot create a new mailbox in Mail.app

After installing Maverick Mail update recently I no longer can create a Mailbox in Mailboxes. Before installing it I could add a few, but not anymore after the update. What should I do to fix it?

Might be corrupted Mail preferences after upgrading to Mavericks ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy / paste the following:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences
Then click Go. Move the com.apple.mail.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac then try adding a new mailbox.

I created a new mailbox but cannot see it. I saw somewhere in the support groups that I should look for user/library/mail folder but cannot find that either. I then decided to see if updating mail would help but when I started to install the update I got the message that my hard drive cannot support the update. I have an OS X 10.9.3 in 3.06 GHz INterl Core 2 Duo iMac with 12GB RAM and 130 GB of free space on the hard drive. Mail is version 7.3.

How does Mountain Lion create a new mailbox?

I cannot create a new mailbox in Mountain Lion with either + or menu. Hints welcome.

I never did find a mailbox - I wasn't even able to name or position it. I finally quite Mail and restarted. For whatever reason, I was able to create a new mailbox. Thanks for your response, it encouraged me to look and try again.

After installing Mavericks my email isn't allowing me to draft a new message. I can see my messages, but cannot create a new message or reply to any messages. When I try nothing happens, then Mail freezes all together.

Do a backup.
Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

Cannot Delete my domain controlled mailbox in mail.app

Hi. I just got a Mac Server (Mac Mini). I set it up i plugged it into my network at home. For some reason, my iMac prompted me to setup ical and mail. Not knowing much about it, I just proceeded on with it. A mailbox appeared in my mail.app which i could not remove. I searched around and tried my best to remove it without avail. The mailbox name is
<my username>@CYC-MAC1.local
Problem is, I've reformatted my server and reinstalled the OS and so CYC-MAC1.local does not exist anymore.
How do i get rid of it? I tried
1) Deleting the com.apple.mail.plist file
2) Deleting the mailbox from mail.app preferences, but it just keeps coming back.
Not sure what else i can try. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Duh, I managed to solve it myself.
What I found out is that my ISP's DNS as well as invalid certificates were the most likely culprit.
What I did was go to System Preferences -> Network -> Click "Advanced..." for my Wi-Fi -> then selected the "DNS" tab.
For "DNS Servers" I added in Google's public DNS which is 8.8.8.8.
Once set, I started the Mail app and went into the preferences for the mailbox that had the issue. Immediately I received a prompt for the certificates. I then displayed the certificate and then set "Always Trust" for the certificate.
When done, it was all ok!

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.1.
I also have Verizon webmail which I access via the iPhone's Mail app.
I am trying to create a new mailbox in order to store certain emails on my iPhone somewhere besides the Inbox.
In the Mail app and at Mailboxes, I do: Edit->New Mailbox   and then enter a name for the new mailbox.
However, everytime I press "Save", I get:
          Unable to Create Mailbox
The mailbox couldn't be created on the server
          <OK>
Any help is appreciated.

I can't create a new mailbox, doesn't show up

When I create a new mailbox, it does not show up in the left column of mail boxes. I read in another email on the same topic that the newly created mailboxes (I created or tried to create five or six of them that all never showed up), that they are "hidden" and that I should hover over "on my mac" and a menu will ask me to unhide mail boxes. But I do not see the phrase "on my mac" anywhere on my mailbox list. How do I create a mailbox, or where are the ones that I did create and are not visible? Thanks.

I did not find any evidence of the mailboxes on the google site. Also, I'm new to google mail, but though I couldn't find a way to create an actual mail box in mail, there were "labels" and under the menu of all the different categories they were all checked to "show on imap." This google account is set up on my mac mail, as I guess you might be able to see that and I do receive my employers mail from google right to my mac. This iMac is actually my second older one that sits in my kitchen for entertainment and downstairs access, so I don't care a whole lot that I can't resolve this, though I still would like to figure it out if possible, where the created mailboxes are going that is......I just went up to my main mac (new 27"). "On My Mac" shows and when you hover over it you can "hide" it. This doesn't seem to happen on my downstairs mac with the problem. Because this is a secondary computer, I could very well at some wipe out the entire mail and start over, though I'm not sure how to do that being that mail application may not be easy to get back if I delete the entire app? since it's an onboard app that comes with the os????? For testing purpose, I have created a Shell Script and registered concurrent program.

Please verify the Information Store service is started.
Distribution Group and contacts both have no mailbox in information store. So you can create them.
And now, we may need to verify if the mailbox database is mounted and we can get its information.

If something bad happens while patching, and you find yourself without critical ad executables because relink failed, you need to run relinkenv.cmd to (re)create the APPS.SH unix-style environment (forward slashes) for relink.sh.
