Cannot Create Bootcamp.dmg - File too Lage

Hi,
I am trying to create a clone of Bootcamp WIN XP by using DISK UTILITY. The external hard disk is on FAT32 format. Same as my bootcamp.
When I try to create NEW IMAGE of the Bootcamp, I am prompted with the message "Cannot Create Bootcamp.dmg - File too large"
The size of my bootcamp is about 35 GB. The external hard disk has a capacity of 250 GB and i partition one section of 35 GB for creating the image file.
How do I resolve this issue? How else can I clone my bootcamp WIN XP?

You're trying to put a 35GB file image into a 35GB partition? I don't think that will work, since there's some overhead used by OSX for any partition. I would have created a 40GB partition for a 35 GB disk image.
But I might be misunderstanding your question.

  • Is there a way to create a .dmg file for a DVD inserted into the system

I am wondering if Snow Leopard has integrated any tools that can create a .dmg file for the CD or DVD inserted into the system?
If not, any recommendations for freeware 3rd party tools? Thanks

Insert the disc you want to create the .dmg from, then choose the disc in the left hand pane of Disk Utility. From the File menu, choose New > Disk Image from (name of disc).
EDIT: This is basically how it's done; however, there may be other steps involved, depending on the type of disc you're trying to copy and what your goals are with the .dmg. If you provide more details about what you're trying to achieve, maybe we can help you further.

  • Installed Mac OS X v.10.6.7, and now we cannot create a PDF file

Installed Mac OS X v.10.6.7, and now we cannot create a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Professional.  This has been done on two computers, one an iMac and the other a MacBook Pro.  Assistance greatly appreciated.

Yes, Adobe Acrobat X Pro is the same thing as Acrobat X Pro.
Print to PDF is probably the most reliable way to create a PDF file.
File > Create > PDF from File
is shaky.  It works with some file types but not with others.
Another issue is creating a multi-page PDF from a scanner.  If you neglect to check the box "Prompt for scanning more pages" and, instead, simply try to add a second page, the application crashes.

Cannot install a .dmg file. It is associated with the wrong file and I don't know which is the right file.
    Can anyone help?

That is a Disk Utility image. You can find Disk Utility in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder on your hard drive.

You can download and install on your system from Adobe's website.  Have you already opened the box you have received?  If not, you can return it for an exchange.  In the meantime you can download the trial version from this link:

I am not sure if the Windows Serial number will work on your Mac system.

  • Cannot create client identification file

    Hi.
I am trying to run the Excel Add-In on Windows 7 but when I start excel I get the following Essbase Error:

Is there any workaround to avoid this error?
    Thanks,

    Update:
I tried running the Excel as Administrator and didn't get the error message. The ini file was created in WINDOWS but the content is incomplete. The file is supposed to contain [Login] and [App Manager] sections, which are missing. And has only a portion of the [CSL Global Options] section.

  • I cannot successfully download .dmg files including Firefox updates. I can do it on Safari. Why?

When I try to download .dmg files with firefox, I get a box that asks if I want to Open with [choose] or Save File. Not sure what if any application to use to open it. So I try to save it but it doesn't save the .dmg file. So I use Safari. When I click the download button (as I did to get Firefox 4.0 for the Mac) in Safari, it automatically starts to download and creates the image to drag the image into the application folder. Why can't my Firefox do this whereas Safari cannot? This happens on my desktop at home and at work, both Macs; both using Max 10.6.6.

Pandora may either not be available in the language or country you are using.  This is likely the reason.
Or your iPhone may be restricted.  Check Settings > General > Restrictions

  • Cannot mount a .dmg file

I just received a Slingbox Pro for the holidays. I downloaded their software, which is in the form of a dmg file. After the download it would not mount. The people at SlingBox are clueless. I'm waiting for a Mac specialist to call me back.
Any idea why it is not mounting? Just as a test I downloaded iTunes because it too is a dmg file and it mounted. They think it is some setting regarding a firewall or the like. Help...
    Scott

That means that perhaps the file you downloaded got a little messed up on its way to your computer, or perhaps the checksum information wasnt included in the original file. Disk images have checksums to ensure the integrity of the disk image is ok. It works by summing up the number of bits and bytes in the image/file according to a summation algorithm that will give you a specific "checksum" number. The file should contain the checksum number (created and embedded in the file when the original disk image was created) that your computer compares to it's checksum number that it gets when it runs the same algorithm upon mounting the disk image. If the image is intact, then the checksums will match, but if the original checksum is missing or they dont match, then the disk will be avoided for fear of corrupt data, etc.
I'd recommend re-downloading the file, but if you want to try one more thing with this one, open "Disk Utility" and in the preferences uncheck the "Verify checksum" option. Then go to the file menu and select the option to open a disk image and hope it mounts without checksum verification. If it's just a checksum error where the checksum number is missing, then the contents should be fine and you should be able to install the program, but if there's a problem with the disk image then its likely the installer files will be corrupted and you will get errors. Its worth a shot...

  • Cannot Create Local Lock File

There is one page on my website that when I press "edit
page", it says that it "cannot create a local lock file". Every
other page on the website can at least access the edit screen,
    except this one.
    The website is
    http://www.ergofitconsulting.com/
, go to the "about us", then the "presentations" tab, you will
notice that it then has 3 sub-selections "nationaol", "regional",
and "local". This is the only thing I can see that might set it
apart from the other pages for editing, the fact that it has an
    additional layer of selections.
Like I say, this is the only page which will not open up in
edit mode. I did not design the page, I am just some hired help
trying to figure out how to paste in some updated changes. If
anyone can help me, I'd much appreciate it.

  • Photoshop CC cannot create or open files

    Hi!
photoshop cannot seem to open or create any files.
i have to restart my computer and then photoshop will work perfectly fine, but if i close it again, and reopen, then it will not create or open any files.
i have reinstalled windows on my computer (secure cleaned my ssd) and still no luck.
this is pretty much the same problem (and i've followed all the steps, made sure of it from a fresh install of windows) http://forums.adobe.com/message/6164211
i've had no luck solving this problem yet and having to restart my computer every time i use photoshop is not acceptable.
    anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

You can open Photoshop, you cannot create new documents. If you click file>new, the normal new dialog box opens, if you click "ok" it goes away. If you double click a PSD it focuses the Photoshop window. Nothing else happens.
For me this is a new issue today. My computer is an i7/780, more than capable of Photoshop, and has run it fine up until now. My keyboard started freaking out last night and doing things I didn't want it to. I suspect it changed a setting or broke something.
I have uninstalled and re-installed and it did not resolve the issue.
This is obviously a critical issue that needs immediate attention.

  • Cannot create a dump file for a process

    Hi fellows,
I have a problem creating a dump file for an application. The application consists of C++ and C# dlls. It runs in Windows 7 64bit environment.
I constantly receive the following error:
ERROR_PARTIAL_COPY:  Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.
and only a part of the dump is created ~ 400 MB (should be ~900 MB) although there is enough space on the disk drive.
I have tried the following options:
    - Task Manager -> Create Dump File
    - windbg (64bit version): .dump /a
This happens only on two machines and not on all the rest (~20 more).
All of them are equipped with Windows 7 64bit, the application is build in 64bit
Note that if I use the option /mA when calling .dump it creates the dump without errors. From the MSDN documentation:
The /mA option is equivalent to /ma except that it ignores any failure to read inaccessable memory and continues generating the minidump.
    My questions are:
    1) What can be the case when the memory being read is inaccessable
    2) Why does it fail creating the dump file for only 2 machines

Okay, after reading the post here are the results I got:
    0:013> !vprot 0x800000000
    BaseAddress:       0000000800000000
    AllocationBase:    0000000800000000

No information found for 0000000800000000: error 161
    1) windbg is unable to tell me which the mapped file is
    2) I have tried it several times and strangely always the problematic adress is 0x800000000 ... isn`t that weird ?

  • CREATE DATABASE cannot create a control file

I know, it's not supported. Please refrain from reminding me.
I am trying to install a second database on an Oracle 8i installation (8.1.7.4) on a Windows 2003 server. I cannot use DBCA because it doesn't work, so I create the databases manually using the script produced by DBCA.
    So I run the following:
    connect INTERNAL@TEST
    startup nomount pfile="C:\oracle\admin\COHPTEST\pfile\initTEST.ora"
    CREATE DATABASE TEST
    LOGFILE 'D:\oracle\oradata\TEST\redo01.log' SIZE 1024K,
    'D:\oracle\oradata\TEST\redo02.log' SIZE 1024K,
    'D:\oracle\oradata\TEST\redo03.log' SIZE 1024K
    MAXLOGFILES 32
    MAXLOGMEMBERS 2
    MAXLOGHISTORY 1
DATAFILE 'D:\oracle\oradata\TEST\system01.dbf' SIZE 264M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10240K
    MAXDATAFILES 254
    MAXINSTANCES 1
    CHARACTER SET WE8ISO8859P1
    NATIONAL CHARACTER SET WE8ISO8859P1;
    I receive the following error:
    ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-00200: controlfile could not be created
    ORA-00202: controlfile: 'D:\oracle\oradata\TEST\ctrl01.ctl'
ORA-27040: skgfrcre: create error, unable to create file
    OSD-04002: unable to open file
O/S-Error: (OS 3) The system cannot find the path specified.
    More information:
    1) Added the "Everyone" account to full control on the D: drive, to eliminate the possibility of access issues.
    2) The control files, the alertLog, and just about every other file do not exist before, or after the error.
    3) I cannot produce more detailed information other than what you see. I do not know of a trace that will track this, which would be helpful.
    4) I've tried from both SQLPLUS and SVRMGRL, as well as using INTERNAL, SYS accounts as well as adding sysdba privileges.
I would love to upgrade this instance, but it has other databases on it, and only one box to run this DB on.
SO, just to be sure, telling me to upgrade isn't what I am hoping to learn. I would appreciate some insight on how to display the account svrmgrl runs under, or how to get it to run under another user ID that would be great, or why it can't create the file, or a manual way to create the file (CREATE CONTROLFILE is for existing db's only right? )

    Hello, my name is stupid.
I was using a remote file in my TNS_ADMIN environment value. It was pointing to the old database the whole time. The old database was up and down all day, but no one was on it to notice.
Answer: Please check your TNS_ADMIN file, to make sure that you do not have any naming conflicts with the database you are creating, and another database with the same name in your collection of databases.
    What happened:
The reason it could not create the files: There was another TEST database, which was what was connected to, and I tried to create the files on another server which did not have a D: Drive.
When I switched to C: it stated the files were already in existence, which I knew wasn't true, and what led me to look at what I was connecting to.
When I checked my TNSNames.Ora file, I noticed the 2nd entry for a database also named "TEST" that a previous DBA had left in there, I realized I was working on the wrong database because it connected to the first database in the TNSNames listed for that SID.
I removed the entry from the TNSNames file, and the database was created successfully (Manually, DBCA still doesn't work).
Thanks for all that tried to help, but introspection was the only solution.

  • Cannot create bootcamp, cannot boot from Windows DVD or Bootcamp USB.

2011 Mac Mini, running 10.9 Attempting to create a bootcamp installation. Note that I have done this many times with other Macs, including similar Mac Minis.
I get through the Bootcamp assistant process of downloading windows support files and creating a USB drive for the install, I partition the internal 500gig hard drive in half. On reboot all I get is a black screen. Not a Black screen with flashing cursor, no error of any kind, just completely black, I have waited for over 45 minutes and it never changes. I have repeated this process several times, letting bootcamp assistant remove the partition in between, with several versions of the .iso file. I have recreated it from an original Windows 7 Pro 64bit. I have downloaded an iso of the same from Microsoft. None give any different results. I have reset the PRAM. I have a external Apple superdrive and have booted up to startup disk manager and can see that the USB is a valid boot, the Windows DVD is valid and there is an option for EFI Boot. None work, all give the exact same black screen with nothing. When booting from the Windows DVD, you can hear it spin up and read for a short while, then is stops. I have read and tried all the related posts here and on any web site I can find, although there are few and most just point back to the same articles here.
Help, tis is driving me crazy! I know it can be done, but there is something at work here I can't figure out.

You need to use a USB2 flash drive for BC Drivers/Windows ISO, not a USB3 stick. Windows installers do not support USB3 out-of-the-box. On Macs, BC drivers will later add support for USB3.

  • Cannot create a Response File in Reader X from form created in Acrobat Pro 9

I created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. I distributed the form using option "Manually collect responses in my email inbox" and "Save a local copy and manually send it later". When I send that form and get a response, I open it in Adobe Reader X but I do not get the pop-up option to save to a Response File. I do get that option to save to the response file if I open the file with Adobe Reader 9. Has anyone else seen this problem and is there a solution?

I figured a way around this in case anyone has the same problem in the future. I just opened Acrobat Pro X, clicked combine files into PDF, selected the file I wanted, saved the "binder" as PDF then saved another version as Reader Extended PDF. I think this helped because it essentially creaded a whole new PDF with the old PDF in it and getting rid of whater hashes or document properties in the last one that wouldn't allow it to work in Reader. Opens perfectly on other computers.
