  • Cannot delete HID subkeys in Windows 7

    I cannot delete HID subkeys in Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit). Please see the registry image below. I need to delete subkey VID_04D8&PID_00DE and its subkeys.
    I used LabVIEW 8.5 and had turned off User Account Control. Here is my code:
    The error I got is:
    Error -604 occurred at Open Registry Key.vi
    Possible reason(s): LabVIEW: Remote registry access denied.
    In the registry window, I can grant permission of Full Control up to CurrentControlSet level, but starting Enum subkey, Windows won't let me to grant Full Control permission.
    Could someone please help on this issue?

    Wait you want to change those values with LabVIEW VIs? If so you have to launch your LabVIEW program as administrator instead. You can't change the access rights of system registry entries easily.
    You can usually do that from an explorer window, by right clicking on your program icon and selecting to start it as administrator.

  • Cannot delete System partition in Windows 8

    Hi
    When I installed the Windows 8. It creates 2 partition. One is the system partition. And another a primary partition.
    There are numerous times that my Windows 8 crashes very badly!
    Without anything to fall back.
    How do I delete this partition from Command Prompt.
    I try delete partition via diskpart without success!
    On a xp if you use diskpart it shown the partition which you can delete or create.
    On windows 8 the diskpart gui like the one in xp is not available.

    Hi,
    If you delete the partition, Windows 8 won't boot successfully.
    When installing Windows 8, it will let you format the hard drive. Or you can access recovery options, use diskpart from Command Prompt there.

  • Cannot delete locations in Finder windows "Places" sidebar

    Hello and thank you for your time.
    Im getting furiously mad at my computer, I have a folder that I deleted that still shows up in the Finder locations sidebar, on the left side where you have "Desktop" and any Optical Drives, connected servers etc etc, well I have this one folder that I cant get rid of. On legit items there I can right click on them, I can right click and up comes, if I right click on Desktop "open" "open enclosing folder" "get info" "change desktop background""rename desktop" "remove from sidebar".
    I just want this **** folder gone, really bugs me, Ive used Spotlight to search for the name, and it cant find anything. Its like theres some location that the computer remembers, but it no longer exists and it cant even decide to let me right click and remove it. Ive tried getting rid of everything from the sidebar, unticking the boxes in the preference menu, but the folder will still stay.
    Please help, its really annoying me.
    Thank you for your time, have a nice day.

  • Acrobat X, error message "cannot delete pages, pages are in use"

    Recently updated to Acrobat X. After saving a pdf, if I try to delete a page or pages, I get an error message "cannot delete pages, pages are in use". I have to close acrobat and reopen my document to continue deleting pages. Is there a fix for this? So far, I think Acrobat 7 was better that X!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What OS are you using?  Ive read that preview pane in windows vista and 7 causes an issue with the delete page feature.  The suggestion was generally to turn the preview feature off.
    Heres technet article on turning off the feature:

  • Cannot search PDF file contents - Windows 7 32 bit - Adobe Acrobat X

    Hello,
    If this is in the wrong forum please move it.
    I work in an enterprise environment and our systems are having trouble searching file contents in Windows Explorer using Acrobat X and Windows 7 32 bit. The files are on a mapped network location.
    After removing all adobe products from a test machine and reinstalling the Acrobat 10.0.0 software the windows explorer search function seems to work locally but once I install Acrobat 10.1.anything update, it will fail. It never worked on a networked location.
    I have also tried installing Adobe Acrobat 11.0.00 after removing 10.0. Then I made sure my indexing settings were setup to index files and contents and made sure the .pdf extension was selected under file types.
    I then created a mapped drive to the network location, and setup my indexing to the folder on that network drive. I was able to do this by installing this Microsoft Add-in that allows use of UNC paths in the indexing.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=3383
    Once I set this up, I rebuilt my index and restarted the computer. This is where it gets weird. I can now search the contents of PDF files in this indexed network location, but only by one letter. Searching "c type:pdf" will produce results, but "co type:pdf" will not. I know for sure some of the documents have the work Comment in there so this should should up.
    Does anyone have experience getting this to work correctly with the latest versions of Adobe Acrobat X or XI and Windows 7 32 bit? It would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    I will never understand why but in the end I rebuilt my 32 bit dell laptop from scratch and the pdf files can now be searched.
    I cannot search them on a mapped drive as I was able to with Windows XP because now they must be indexed and windows 7 will seems not to allow a mapped location to be indexed which must be done to make the pdf files searchable so I have had to move the files to the local drive.
    My Windows 7 64 bit systems can search the mapped drives just fine without needing to be indexed. Again I will never understand why this works and the 32 bit machine does not.

  • I deleted Acrobat XI but now cannot reinstall

    If Acrobat XI is part of CC, and I subscribe to CC, I should be able to download it, but perhaps I deleted Acrobat incorrectly and there's still a preference file residing on the computer. In any case, although I don't have Acrobat XI installed currently...
    When I open my Creative Cloud desktop app, it shows as being installed, and thus I cannot re-download it...

    I fixed it.
    BUT I want to reiterate:
    1) Mac lets you delete apps freely by trashing them, and Mac users have been doing this for decades without getting punished like this.
    2) Mac users rarely if ever look in the app folder to see if there might be an unistall app. I bet less than 10% of Mac apps have an uninstaller app.
    3) If you try to "Recycle Bin" an app in Windows, the OS warns you to use an uninstaller. Mac lets you trash almost everything without a warning.
    4) Mac developers should be aware of all of this behavior, and program accordingly.
    Just sayin'....

  • Hi why I can't download itunes on my hubby's laptop?It showing an error message "windows cannot find C:\document and settings\pistolero\mymusic...

    Hi why I can't download itunes on my hubby's laptop?It showing an error message "windows cannot find C:\document and settings\pistolero\mymusic... We have itunes before and he accidentally delete it..

    ... We have itunes before and he accidentally delete it..
    If Windows cannot find then the path you referenced (C:\document and settings\pistolero\mymusic...) then it is gone.
    Download and install iTunes again: http://www.apple.com/itunes/
    Once iTunes is installed you can download your purchased music again. This assumes what you purchased is still available in the Store. Here is the procedure:
    Launch iTunes.
    Click on iTunes Store on the left
    On the right you will see this
    Sign in with your Apple ID, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
    On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
    On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button.

    I wonder what your computing environment is. Is your account being administrated by another account? Are you working in an account subject to "Parental Controls"?

  • Cannot delete file on windows

    WE have an application. This application processes a list of files in a directory. Once it has processed, it is deleted. We are using the File.delete() API to delete the file. This application works fine on Unix, but when run on Windows, the delete method returns false status. It cannot delete the file and neither does it throw the exception. Is there any way to find out why this delete is failing. We have no clue.

    Maybe the file you get by the new operation
    tion doesn't exist.
    Pls check the return value of the
    the File.exists();.I can't believe that
    your code failed to delete the file if the return
    value is true.sudhirkd never said delete() returned true when it shouldn't have. Regarding exists(), it returns the value that matches the file's actual existence in the file system. Please run the following code on a Windows system to check for yourself:
            java.io.File file = new File ("temp.file");
            java.io.FileWriter out = new FileWriter (file);
            System.out.println ("file.delete() returns: " + file.delete ());
            System.out.println ("file exists: " + file.exists ());
            out.close (); // THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT
            System.out.println ("out closed");
            System.out.println ("file.delete() returns: " + file.delete ());
            System.out.println ("file exists: " + file.exists ());it will return something like this:
    file.delete() returns: false
    file exists: true
    out closed
    file.delete() returns: true
    file exists: false
    Once again, note that it is the explicit close() of the file writer that matters here, not running System.gc(). Relying on garbage collector is a sign of very immature implementation and unprofessional programming style. Java programmers need to be as careful about releasing resources as C/C++ programmers -- just because the heap memory is handled for you automatically does not mean you could ignore file handles, temp files, socket handles, etc.
    The example applies to Windows. Explicitly closing file handles is equally important on UNIX as well. For example, failure to do so and relying on GC may cause a JVM process to run out of file handles very quickly [default max is ~20 on Solaris unless you explicitly increase the soft porcess limits].

  • Cannot delete exe files - The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer

    We have received 3 new computers with Windows 8.1. All of us 3 have the same problem: we cannot delete exe files with message "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer"
    For example, I download skypeinstall.exe on desktop, install the program correctly and then try to delete the file: file is in use by Windows Explorer, cannot be delete.
    We reboot computer, we are able to delete the file. But, if I restore the file from the recycle bin on the desktop, I cannot delete it again until I reboot the PC. I used ProcessExplorer to see what is locking it and I can see 5 instances of explorer.exe
    locking the file.
    I can always reproduce the same way:
    1-Reboot
    2-Delete exe file
    3-Restore file
    4-Delete stop working and 5 explorer.exe handle are locking it.
    I have tried the following so far after reading multiple threads:
    - De-activating Windows Search service
    - Activating User Experience service
    - Deleting from command prompt (no success)
    - In folder options: inactivate display icon on thumbnail and activate always display icons, never thumbnail
    - Changing folder view (contents, detail, small icons...)
    - Using Lock Hunter - not working until reboot
    None of these worked.
    We all have Windows 8.1 with Crucial SSD drive, could the problem be linked with the SSD drive incompatibility?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    Please try to make a clean boot for your system, then check if this problem resolved.
    Clean Boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    If problem persists, try to open Resource Monitor to check handle of Explorer.exe, if there any exception, end them for test.

  • On 10.4.11 Mac Mail I get this: Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unnedded documents or move documents to another volume. I can't open mail.

    On 10.4.11 iMac Mac Mail I get this message: "Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume." I can't open mail to do this. I have reinstalled software but no effect. How do I get into Mail to delete?

    Found this on the "more like this" Worked like a charm!
    With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
    Go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
    Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import mailboxes. Select OK and allow the import process to complete.
    After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and old Envelope Index file from the Desktop and this should resolve the problem.
