Cannot delete bluetooth serial port! going crazy! help!

Brief background-
I want to sync my Treo 680 with my intel iMac. I have never gotten BT sync to work with any mac or any palm I've ever had. But this time, somehow I did.
And now it's dead again.
I have given up on troubleshooting, and just want to delete all bluetooth profiles, devices, etc that I have created, and to start fresh.
The thing is, they won't delete.
In the bluetooth section of System Prefs, there is a sharing tab.
Under that I have:
Bluetooth file transfer
bluetooth file exchange
bluetooth-PDA-sync
PalmBT
the first three are not delete-able since they came with the system, I guess.
"palmBT" is one I made, that is a duplicate of bluetooth-pda-sync.
I just want to delete it altogether. They are both turned off, but it doesn't matter. if i try to turn either one on, I get an error. I forget the exact words- something about transport monitor could not complete my request.
Not sure if this is an OS problem, or a palm hotsync problem. But like I said, I DID work for a while. I have no idea what may have changed to break it.
So I select "palmBT" and click "remove serial port service" and get this error:
"You are attempting to remove a port which is in use. Quit the application using this port and try again."
What does this mean? The port most certainly is not 'in use'! If it were, I wouldn't be here looking for help! There are NO applications running- what am I supposed to quit?!
Help!!!

Ooh, god I hope not... just for this?! If that's the case I'll give up on BT sync and just stick with USB.
if I do that, it will be the THIRD time I have had to wipe this hard drive since I got the computer in MARCH.
I am still not fully recovered from the last time (but at least I have a backup now)
there must be something else to try- anyone?

Two Bluetooth Serial Ports - lots of RFCOMM errors

Ok... So I'm sure I'm a unique case here, but I'll throw it out anyway, just in case anyone else might be experiencing the same problem, or might know of a fix...
I'm trying to use two Bluetooth serial ports, a Bluetooth GPS and a ham radio TNC (think of it as an RF modem), simultaneously. I was able to do it twice, so I know it can work, but in getting to those two times, I encountered numerous RFCOMM errors mentioning authentication, other failed or hung up connection attempts (The Powerbook seemed to connect to the device, but no data flowed to the application), and even a few "You need to restart your computer. Hold the power button down for a few seconds..." (I guess you could call it the black screen error?) screens. Many times, I could get one device to connect and pass data, but the second one would cause errors. Sometimes I couldn't even get one device to connect.
The devices I'm connecting to are a Pharos iGPS-BT and a Socket Cordless Serial Adapter. The GPS comm settings are 4800-7-E-1 and the serial adapter is at 9600-8-N-1.
Like I said, I actually accomplished it twice, so I know it can be done, but it seems to be a LOT harder getting there than it really should be. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Well, it seems like I've figured it out. I deleted the pairings (and thus the related serial ports), re-paired (probably not necessary; I probably could've just deleted the serial ports and re-added them), and I haven't had problems since.
It seems that the problems were related to the fact that I renamed the ports to considerably shorter names (i.e. bt-gps instead of PharosiGPS-BT-GPSRFcom-1). I've left both ports with their original names and have had no problems since.

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app. Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows. If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again. Make sure you transfer purchases first. Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

What bluetooth serial ports settings for?

While configuring my A2dp stereo headset/handsfree with Lion, i notices that there is an option for editing serial ports for each device. It gives some option to add a profile. Can someone tell me what exactly it is for and how can I use it for my advantage, if any?

Cannot write to serial port

Hi,
I am using jdk 1.3.1, forte ce 3.0 and j2me 1.0.3 beta.
I wrote a midlet that should write and read strings to and from the serial port.
Using the Emulator I have the reading working, but the writing freezes the execution.
Any ideas?

Thanx for your reply (I have been asking this question everywhere for 2 weeks and no one has answered...).
I am using the Motorola i85s. It is specifially stated in the "i85s & i50sx Release 2 J2ME Developers' Guide Addendum" that the serial communications SHOULD work.
As I said - reading from the port (using the i85s Emulator) works - but writing to the port - freezes the execution. So this means that my connection is up and running - just the write is not working.
I would love to be able to load my midlet to my phone - since maybe on the phone it WILL miraculously work. But in this direction I am stuck with the fact that the JAL Lite does not load "network capable apps" - whereas I cannot get my hands on the Web JAL (which DOES load network capable apps) - since I have not succeeded to get thorugh the 100 steps that you must go through in order to use it... see for yourself at https://idenonline.motorola.com/ideveloper/program/program_jal.cfm).

My black berry tour 9300 is going crazy help ASAP!

I went away for a week and the second day my phone started going crazy. It would freeze and type in huhuhuhuhuhuhuhu until the whole thing was filled with it and when i try to type "hahahaha" it ends up like this "huahuahuahua" i first thought that maybe i got sand in it so i brought that air duster you use for keyboards on computers it helped a little but its still freezing i still cant type in words or use my key board or my enter button, end button, and menu button. It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
3. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
*Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor

Count time between 2 readings from serial port... help!.

Hi guys,
I am using my application to get the readings sent by microcontroller from serial port. It works perfectly. But i have the problem, the pic uses 16bits counter, and sometimes i measure frequency lower than 15hz (65535-->16bits). Thats why I thought to measure the time between each pulse that it recieved in serial port. So i could multiply the reading about the time which spend in arrive to serial port. I know if any pulse spend more than 15hz, i should add 65535 to this reading.
Then, the idea is count the time spent between each reading in serial port. SInce pics count and later send each turn.
I dont know if it is possible, and exist any easy way.. Can ayone help me?.
I would like to see any example of it, always it is possible.

You're not going to be able to get even close to 1 usec resolution using the built-in time functions though I don't see any of those in your attachment. The windows clock is simply not that accurate. If you need to precisely time your serial reads you might want to look at using the timed loop. You can set the period of that to 1 msec.

Cannot delete a serial number assigned to a material on a contract

Hi
We had the BOM header material created with a serialization profile that led to creating serial numbers for both header and the components in the equipment master when a contract was created. But the business required the serial number only for the components to be created in the EM. So we created a dummy serialization profile and attached it to the header material to allow when the material used in the new contracts will not create a serial number for the header.
The issue is with the existing contracts with the material, current workaround the business is carrying out is inactivating the serial number of the BOM header and on the contract adding the rejection code to the line items and then create new line item with the same material and continue to invoice. This breaks the link in the document flow.
To avoid this we created some dummy material and try to move the serial number of the existing header material to the dummy material in IQ02. And when we try to delete the serial number attached to the material on the sales order. It allows to delete but when we save the document it automatically creates another serial number eventhough the material has a dummy serialization profile on the material master.
Please let me know is there any other to acheive this instead breaking the document flow of the contracts.

1, Go to u201CMM02u201D select u201CSales Genrl/Plantu201D Tab, in this remove serial Number profile assigned to the material master, and save
2, Go to u201COIENu201D, here you deselect the u201CSerial Numberu201D group, by which the assignment of continuous serial No. with No. range would be un-assigned, and save.(use this option provided if you assigned your serial numbers using "OIEN")
3, Please also try u201CDeactivatingu201D the serial Nos. in the following Menu Path:
Plant Maintenance & Customer Service > Technical Objects > Serial No. Management > Deactivate Lock for Internal assignment of Serial Numbers.Here you may have to deselect the u201CNo Blocku201D for u201CCu201D RFID Equipment with Serial Number or your assigned category, and save.
Now try with your process, I am sure it should work out.

Guide and grid snapping going crazy - help!

I'm having real problems when snapping bezier paths to guides and grids. As you can see in the video, it seems to snap to SOMETHING, but not the grid or guide, it's driving me crazy. Even more annoying, sometimes it works perfectly. Anyone know what the heck is going on? I have turned off the "new" snapping feature and just checked "snap to guides" in the VIEW menu.

Please help, I'm on a huge project that is pure shape layers, and not being able to snap to guides is a nightmare.

Sorry, I cannot replicate your issue. I've tried having 8 shapes and masks and switching the pixel aspect ratio conversion on and off and switching the grid on and off and switching guides on and off and switching all of the snap functions in and out in various combinations.
A very long time ago, when grids were new, I had changed the color of the grid to white. when I started working on a white layer later in the project I was freaked out that the grid had malfunctioned but it had simply been made invisible by the user. I spent hours on the After Effects AOL forum before I figured it out. This is not related to your problem, clearly, but these things are often less weird than they seem.

I am having the same problem.. I've gone to the extreme to delete all content from my phone and restore it to factory (TWICE) only to have my backup re-install everything that I didn't want in the first place. I hope Apple gets it together soon - I'm trying to delete pictures, music, the whole works and I can't. The sad fact that the new IOS is almost like a (drumroll please) conspiracy theory - screw up the system so bad that people would be forced to buy the newest and latest... Sadly - we've had to do that with one of our Iphone 4s...I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone on this issue. I'm sorry that I don't have a clue on how to actually fix this though. Time Machine Going Crazy (HELP)

Last year I bought a 1 TB WD My Book and ever since I never had any problems with the backups, until yesterday. My internal hard drive currently has 996,13 GB and my home folder has 960, 63 GB (Above 1TB). The problem is when I try to do a backup, time machine says "This backup is too large for the backup volume. The backup requires 1,16 TB but only 996 GB are available". I tried with another 1TB external hard drive (Lacie) and is the same. Gives the same error. How can the backup is larger than the internal hard drive? What should I do?
Without time machine and the backups I can't move to Lion (Yes It's all because of lion.)

well every time you change a document for example time machine saves the new verion (and the old one), this will take a bit more space then the original file, since you now have several versions of it.
what you can do is open your backup on the lacie, and you will see folders with dates.
Here you can simply delete folders from a date you know you have a good backup from.

Mail Going Crazy - Help...

I have had my iMac for about a 2 years now and I have never seen this happen before. I started mail to check my email and mail started pulling in 684 emails. I never have more than 10 to 20 email in a given day. Than no new emails show up in the in-box - What? I shut down my mac to do a few chores and return and boot it up and launched mail and 394 new emails, no new emails show up again - What the heck? While trying to figure this out, I checked all my mail accounts and all looked normal, but when I checked my sent box, I found probably 35 email sent today which were copies of email that I had sent months ago and I did not re-send them. Seems like mail is resending a ton of old email. Has anyone had this happen before? Recommendations on how to deal with this?
Please help.....by the way, I running 10.5.3 which I believe is the latest version.

To try to fix the problem, open Mail. Highlight the mailbox. Select mailbox from the menu bar. Select rebuild.

Unable to delete serial port (advanced bluetooth prefs)

I was messing around with the advanced Bluetooth preferences and added a couple serial ports to this list. But when I select the items, the remove button remains inactive. How do I delete these? (Note: checking the checkboxes doesn't change the state of the remove button.)

did you get a reply, or find a way to fix this problem? I'm experiencing exactly the same issue. Moreover, if I go to "My Bluetooth Places" and "View My Bluetooth services", I can see the various services, and even enable some of them such as File Transfer or Bluetooth Imaging. However, I cannot enable Bluetooth Serial Port, which is what I'd need to be able to connect my Palm with my Lenovo. By the way, it works fine with my other computers, just not with this Lenovo T60p...
