Cannot delete my messages

Good afternoon! Anyone else experience this one?
A new problem cropped up using "MAIL" today. When I highlight the message and click on "delete" or I try to move a message to the trash (in any fassion: dragging it, right click) I get a pop up message:
+*"The message '....title of message' could not be move to the mailbox 'Deleted Messages". The Destination mailbox "Deleted Messages" does not allow messages to be moved to it".*+
Some here suggested selecting the box and "rebuilding the mailbox" this isn't being presented as an option.
I can use the "Apple X" method of "cutting" the message but there is no retrieving it once this is done (I have no idea where they go when you do that.. they aren't in either the Mail trash nor the regular trash).
Thanks!

Rebuild recreates the index to the messages and does not cause them to be lost. During Rebuild all messages will briefly disappear from the list of messages, but they will reappear.
Without repairing the index, you might not be able to move any messages, so for temporary backup, open the Finder, then open Home/Library and control click on the Mail folder there and choose Duplicate. Drag the resulting copy to your Desktop for a temporary backup.
It might be that another approach to repairing the index will be needed, but try this first -- not a bad idea to Rebuild the trash mailbox for each account, either.
Keep us posted.

I cannot delete any messages from my mailboxes. Please help

If you are using the native Apple email app you should be able to swipe to the left and delete. If you can't then remove and reinstall the email account. If that does work
    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

  • Mail crashes and cannot delete outgoing message with large attachment

Tried to send an email with too large an attachment. Now it is stuck in Outgoing Mail. I cannot delete it. It just causes the spinning ball and then eventually mail crashes. I need a way to delete the outgoing message. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/.
    3. Locate Outbox.mbox and move it to the Trash.
    4. Open Mail. A new (empty) Outbox.mbox will be created automatically.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

I have the same problem affecting 3 different email accounts on my q10, one of which is a corporate account requiring IT support to reinstall. This solution is not practical for me. Any better ideas? I knew I shouldn't have done the upgrade. Another reason to regret not switching to an iPhone!

  • Mail: cannot delete unsent messages

Hey! I have the following problem:
    1. Added my Imap server to the Mail App.
    2. Used the wrong number for the Smtp server
    3. wrote my first mail and pressed sent -> mail could not pass of course
    4. trying it a second time because I first thought it is a wlan problem
    5. Fixed the port number and mails now go out. The error message of old mails nevertheless still pop ups every time I open mail!!!
    *My idea to fix it:*
    6. Deleted Imap account on the iphone and added it again with working smtp number etc.
    7. First email I sent from my new account works
    8. Mail app does not make a popup but still displays "2 mails could not be sent" below my inbox messages.
*How can I delete this message?*
    Thanks you!

Here is how to do it:
switch on airplane mode in the settings. go to mail and write an email from the account, where the "unsent mail" is stuck. compose a new mail and send it. since you are in airplane mode it is unable to send it and will put it in the "outbox" and make the "outbox" visible. Now there are two mails, the newly composed one and the old stuck one. If all you want ins delete them, just do the swipe-delete (the edit, delete buttons wont work in airplane mode).

The Blackberry is designed to be reset by removing the battery whilst the device is powered-on. Leave the battery out for a minute or 2.

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

  • Have to Force quit Mail & cannot delete certain messages

I know some folks have already posted about this, but I've yet to find a solution. My mail continues to download the same, previously deleted messages each time I open it. I also have to force quit mail to leave it. It will download new mail from my .mac account while in this condition but will not access my other sympatico mail account. In order to get new mail I have to force quit and reopen the app. I've considered the 'rebuild mailbox' option but all of these annoying messages are in my inbox and there appears to be no 'rebuild' function for the inbox. I've also tried going into my library and manually moving these files to the trash and restarting mail. They appear again. Can someone please offer me a solution to this problem. All I can think of doing now is getting rid of Leopard to go back to Tiger mail.
    Thanks

Hold the phone. This, apparently, may be a Bell Sympatico server issue after all. I've tried to get in contact with their support people and the message says that they've been having problems. Also, my wife, who only uses .mac mail recieved the same email (that keeps popping up in my inbox) and has had no issues. I retrieved my mail using my newer imac as well and the same problem occured there. Hence, it is probably not an app issue, but a server issue.
Thanks all for your help. Hopefully I can resolve this with Sympatico.

  • Cannot delete text message

I have looked through the forum until my eyes hurt to find a solution, so I apologize if this has been covered before. Here's the problem:
I had sent a text message a few days ago and it failed. So, I resent it and it still failed, so I deleted it. Gone, right? Wrong. Now, I get a notification on the top bar that says "text message not sent" and when you tap on it to see the text message, an error message box pops up and says "message not available". So then I press the clear button and the notification goes away. Gone right? Wrong. The failed message stays gone until you open the text messaging menu and bang, the error message comes back. How do I get rid of this? It's not particularly irritating, but it does leave an icon on the notification bar constantly, why?

There have been a number of people experience this issue. There seems to be some sort of basic problem, but I don't know if anyone has found a repeatable method to produce this problem.
As far as I know the only way to get rid of the message is to restore factory defaults on your device. There are a number of threads here that describe the processing for completing this.

  • Cannot delete Mail message

I have 2 e-mails in my InBox that Mail will not let me delete. When I highlight the message and click delete, the text goes grey, but stays. If I close Mail and re-open, the message is still there and in Black. It is my current e-mail account and not an old deleted account. The preview window shows nothing for either message. Is there a way to "refresh" the contents file? I think mine has become corrupt.
Sorry if this is a duplicate post, but Apple has removed the Search function on the discussions ... any idea why and when it will come back?

I got it! I have 3 accounts and I was selecting the "Inbox" and Rebuild was greyed out. I clicked the down arrow and selected the one that was corrupt and was able to rebuild ... Thanx!
