Cannot delete or save bookmarks on my iPhone

When I try to save or delete bookmarks (or folders) in safari on my iphone 5 IOS 6.1.2 it wont work: The context menues appear (edit, delete or bookmark, save), but no action is taken - no bookmarks are being deleted or saved. I sync via icloud with MacBook Pro and iPad - there everthing works as usual. Problem must be on iPhone. I tried to stop sync safari with iCloud and even reinstalled my iPhone from last backup - nothing helped so far. I am stock with uneditable bookmarks on my iPhone. Don´t know, when and how it appeared first, but I remember that it used to work once. Anybody else having the same issue?

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore is not, in itself, a solution.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be a number. It's automatically copied to the Clipboard. Please paste it into a reply.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

I cannot delete an iCal event on my Iphone. It does not have the edit button at the top of the screen.
The event does not show up in iCal on my Mac or on my iCloud.
One of these is a reoccuring event.

The only other thing I can think of is to try deleting the entire calendar from your iPhone and then sync your iCal calendar to your phone again. This needs to be done carefully. I would begin by backing up your iCal calendar on your mac for safekeeping by opening iCal, then going to File>Export>Export, save this on your desktop. Then do the following:
On your phone go to Settings>iCloud and turn Calendars to Off. You should get a prompt asking you whether to keep or remove the calendar data from your phone. Choose to remove it.
Without connecting your phone, open iTunes on your computer and go to iTunes>Preferences, go to the Devices tab check "Prevent...from automatically syncing".
Now connect your phone and, as before, go to the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings. Confirm that you have checked to Sync Calendars with iCal, then further down under Advanced: Replace information on this iPhone check Calendars, then click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone.
This should transfer your iCal calendar to your iPhone, hopefully this time without the problem event. Check your phone to confirm that this was successful, then you can then go back to iTunes Preferences and re-enable automatic syncing.

Cannot delete or add bookmarks in Safari 8.0.3 on my iMac

Although I've been a Mac user forever, I've always preferred Google products, especially Chrome. I decided to give Safari another try after updating to 8.0.3 but am ready to go right back to Chrome and just deal with the syncing issues.
I am trying to personalize Safari and absolutely cannot get the bookmarks to change. I do NOT want Bing, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Yahoo in my favorites (they aren't MY favorites, goshdarnit!) but no matter how I try to delete them (right-click, delete; drag into the desktop; delete from the menu) they always pop back when I restart Safari.
Moreover, any bookmarks I add (including bookmark folders) disappear as soon as I log out. I have researched the issue (clearly I'm not alone with this problem) and have tried the following:
1. Opened iCloud preferences from Finder and unchecked the box next to Safari. Restarted computer. No love.
2. Another user asked a similar question (it wasn't answered) and someone suggested he try to move the bookmarks.plist to the desktop and then relaunch Safari.   I tried to move bookmarks.plist to the desktop and relaunch Safari but when I got to the part in the instructions where I was to paste bookmarks.plist into the "Go To" text box in Finder, I got the error message that "library can't be found.
I have also "turned the computer off and turned it back on again" several times, just to make sure.
I'm at a loss. I'm not *that* computer savvy so I've been reluctant to do anything that requires going into directories and typing a lot of stuff that looks suspiciously like code :-)
So now I'm stuck with these stupid "favorite" bookmarks stinking up my favorites bar and no way to add my own. I have checked Safari settings on my iPad and iPhone (both brand new and everything updating to iCloud and supposedly synced) and they both have different preset favorites than the ones on the iMac. I have only tried to save bookmarks on the iMac.

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.

ICal Help Needed! (cannot delete calendars/events on computer and iPhone)

I need some help with my iCal. Background info:
-Currently have an iPhone 3GS
-Using Google Calendar
-Use separate calendar on iPhone (Pocket Informant)
-Wanted to sync all event from Outlook to Google Calendar to iCal to two calendars on phone (this became an issue with alarms so began attempting to delete all events from the original iPhone calendar that I do not want to use)
I started by syncing my Outlook (one way) with my Google Calendar, which syncs with the iCal on computer and Pocket Informant on iPhone, as well as iCal on iPhone. Duplicate alarms started occurring on the phone (PI and iCal). I then attempted to delete all events from the iCal on the computer. One calendar remains, one that I subscribed to from Yahoo Sports. I have tried everything to delete this calendar, but it seems impossible. After I sync the phone, the subscribed calendar shows up as well as birthdays and one calendar from my Google Calendar, on my phone.
So, the issues, and what I would eventually like to see:
1. I would like all events cleared from iCal on computer (currently just subscribed calendar that will not delete)
2. I would like to delete all events from calendar on phone (subscribed calendar, birthdays, and one calendar from Google) *I cannot even delete these events by hand on my phone.
3. In the end I would like to just continue to sync Outlook with Google which syncs with PI and then do nothing with iCal (on phone and computer) *Well really I would like events from Google synced with iCal on computer, but this doesn't seem feasible so I would settle with not using it at all.
The only thing I can think of to do at this point is to delete iCal, but I am not even sure this would correct the calendar issue on my phone as I am unable to delete that and the sync does not seem to be working correctly.
Any help on this would be much appreciated!

The edit feature was working correctly with the calendars and stopped. Performed a sync through iTunes removing syncing preferences first. Did not resolve the issue. I am considering restoring the iphone.

I am getting a strange problem.I have long methods in custom controller.
The final end bracket at the bottom is giving an error:unmatched bracket....When i try delete and save it, itz not getting saved....

Hi Parama,
This is a small but a very common problem.
Its only a matter of finding out the missing closing bracket that you must have deleted by mistake.
The way to solve this problem is to take one method at a time.
Double click on the opening bracket of your methods. The only code that should get selected, must be the code belonging to that method only.
If so, then there is no problem with brackets in that method. Repeat with the next method.
If not so, then go into the code & repeat the above by double clicking on the opening brackets of all the for/if/while/try-catch/ etc statements.
This way, you will be able to quickly & systematically findout the missing closing bracket.
I hope this helps in resolving your mystery of the missing bracket..;-)

Did you try going to Settings>iCloud, scrolling to the bottom and tapping Delete Account (and if you want to keep the synced data be sure to choose Keep on iPhone when prompted)?

My bookmarks have diappeared and while the icon is on the toolbar, I cannot create or save bookmarks, let alone access my saved book marks. I am prompted to log in, but can't log in to either of my accounts in any meaningful way. Nothing happens

There is no edit or delete button at the top or bottom of the screen when I tap the event to search out its details.

I am not sure how this works but it seems that it may be all or nothing.
To turn off Facebook events on your device:
Settings > Facebook > Calendars > Off

When I moved all my music stored in my Windows 7 user account under the My Music folder to my PC's 'Public Music' folder, I could no longer add/delete music or movies to my iPhone using iTunes. How do I fix this?

I have been synching my iPhone with iTunes without problems for a long time. I also used iTunes to add/change/delete Music & Videos on my iPhone with tuch contents from my iTunes Library.
One day, I decided to move all my Music stored on my laptop's Windows 7 User Account under "My Music" to the Windows 7 User "Public" under "Public Music". When I opened iTunes, all my music was gone so I just added the folder "Public Music" to my iTunes Library, iTunes did some work and all my music was then back, listed in my iTunes.
However, when I would synch my iPhone now, when I view the music or movie contents in my iPhone using iTunes, I can no longer ADD Music or Movies to my iPhone and I cannot delete music or movies in my iPhone using iTunes anymore.
How do I fix this? Please help.

Try opening iTunes preferences. Then click on advanced tab. Then uncheck "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." By default, iTunes copies music to its own media folder when you use iTunes to play the music.

I cannot delete calendar entries from my Iphone 5. It says they all are read only. I went back and I cannot find the main. It was deleted. I clicked save future events when I did this accidentally.

I cannot delete a repeated appointment in my calendar. I deleted the main and accidentally hit save future dates. I tried to delete each future date but there was no edit function. I then clicked the calendar and i could change it but they all display read only cannot delete.

Were the photos taken by your new iPhone? If so, did you not import them off your phone to your computer (as you would any other digital camera) before the restore? If not, restoring wiped the data off the phone and your pictures are gone.

Can't delete Maps 'Recents' or save 'Bookmarks!

As title really - I have a new iPhone 4 restored with backup from my 3G. I can't delete Maps 'Recents' or save 'Bookmarks'. If I clear 'Recents', they go away but reappear sometime over the next day or so. Also, I can save Bookmarks, but they've vanished some time later! This was happening on my 3G too.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

You will lose all created data on your phone: sms, call history, all settings, app data, etc. None of that is part of your iTunes library. Contacts & calendars should already be on your computer. Like your iTunes content, you sync that back to your phone after you restore as new. There is no way to do a "selective" restore from backup. The restore from backup process is all or nothing. In your case, restoring from a corrupted backup will only continue to restore your problem, thus the suggestion you start over from scratch & restore as new. But, they are your phones & it's your choice.

Is anyone else having issues with safari since updating ipad2 with thw new ios6? I cannot find my old bookmarks and I cannot save new bookmarks.

Maunally restore it. In order to do this:
-Download the iOS 5.1.1 firmware from here http://www.redmondpie.com/download-5.1.1-ios-for-iphone-4s-4-3gs-ipad-ipod-touch -direct-official-links/
1. After downloading the firmware from the given link, open iTunes and click on your device.
2. Now press SHIFT on your keyboard and while pressing it click on "Restore".
3. A dialog box will appear.
4. Select the firmware you downloaded and click ok.
5. Done!!! Your iPhone will now be restored to 5.1.1 and if you had backed up your iPod before, then you can put all its settings afterwards.

Downloaded ios7 to my iphone 4 and now I have songs that I cannot delete and they do not show up on itunes either

Daughter upgraded to ios 7 and now she has like 4 songs that are not age appropriate on her iphone- I went into itunes and they dont show up...they are like hidden or something- and I cannot delete them from the phone...does anyone know why the upgrade did this and how I can get these songs off her phone- one of them is not even on my phone so I dont understand how in the world it popped onto hers! thanks!
